Vietnamese food and Chinese dimsum in 1 location. Looks like they make everything from scratch. Sui Mai has a lot of flavor; not just salt mixed in with the cheapest pork they can buy. You can see the diced shrimp in the mix. Egg tarts not overly sweet; can taste the creaminess of the egg yolk. Eggrolls on sweet side. Looks like their own mix inside. Hard to compete with King Eggroll across the st. Lots of vietnamese togo selections. 3 different types of veggie spring rolls. They layer and compress the lettuce in the spring roll to complement the saltiness/heaviness of the dipping sauce. not in a high volume foot traffic location. Very reasonable prices. Can eat there for less than $ 5.00/person and be full on any combo of sweet/savory you like. Better than the larger dim sum restaurants. Very low meat/shrimp quality in some of the dim sum restaurants.

Waited over an hour for a small tray of banh cuon. There was nobody in the store. The banh cuon was mushy and don’t have a lot of meat filling in it

Went here for banh uot(rice sheet). Asked if they have banh cuon(rice roll). They didn’t have it, but made one on the spot for us. We only needed to wait a few minutes. Price was a bit on the higher side for banh uot, banh cuon. But those taste pretty good, smooth and a bit chewy.

Was craving banh beo out of no where during work and decided to get some for lunch! So, I pulled up the Unilocal app to see where I can score some. This place was the closest so I hopped in my car and drove there. Parking was not bad at all! I got there at 11:30amish and there were plenty of parking spots. The store looks like a deli with not much in the front because all the good stuff is stashed in the back! I’m Chinese so I had trouble communicating what I wanted and I didn’t know how to pronounce it but luckily a lady who works there came in and asked me to point at the picture of what I wanted and called to the back to bring some out! While I was waiting for them, I remembered we have a potluck at work tomorrow and asked if I could tack on another 50 but a man comes out to tell me to just come back tomorrow for it because they pride themselves in fresh food and he didn’t want me to serve my coworkers some overnight stuff! I really appreciate that he took such pride in his food. Instead of pushing me to buy more right then and there, he told me honestly to just order them on the day of. $ 5 gets you a whole tray of yumminess! I was able to feed myself and 4 other coworkers for $ 5! What a steal! I will definitely be back next time I crave banh beos at work and maybe try their other stuff. But be warned if you don’t speak Vietnamese, there might be a language barrier and you would have to point to pictures or pull pictures of what you want!

This place only serves individual trays or party trays TOGO. I only come here for their banh hoi(woven rice vermicelli). It usually comes in a black togo tray, plain, in sheets. I requested them to add green onion oil + fried shallots this time so they just grabbed the prepackaged plain ones and brought that to the back to add the toppings. It comes out to be $ 5. FAVBANHHOI! Come early! They run out of their individual togo trays pretty quickly. I’ve seen banh cuon(meat filled rice noodles), banh bot lot(shrimp & pork filled tapioca dumplings), banh beo(dried shrimp steamed rice cakes) and xoi lap xuong(savory sticky rice with Chinese sausage + chicken). There’s also larger plates of banh uot(rice sheets –plain or with dried shrimp) next to the register. There’s a menu on the wall so you can order what you need if you don’t see it already prepared on the counter. A few times I came early in the afternoon and everything was gone besides the sweet sticky rice. Sometimes you can ask if they have anymore in the back. but nothing is guaranteed!

We always come here for the Banh Cuon, and it’s seriously the easiest thing we don’t make at home. They always prepare in huge batches, and we can go through it faster than a fat kid on cake. Oh man I feel bad for saying that. The cake deserves much better.

Simply delicious. Best banh cuon I have ever had. They are freshly made everyday. Make sure you get there early because they tend to run out in the afternoon. I only come here for the banh cuons, but maybe I will try out other things next time. Cash only.

If you want to avoid long lines and get quality Vietnamese banh beo, banh hoi, and other Vietnamese dishes, Van An is the place to go! I go here when I’m having a potluck or gathering and don’t want to spend the extra time and money to cook and prepare a dish. Service is excellent. The ladies who work in the front are sweet and kind.

The lady was nice but my banh beo was soggy and undercooked. It looked like one big blob instead of individual pieces. I would not recommend this specific place to anyone. Would not be coming back.

Date: 7⁄18 Time: almost 2ish Ambience: small hole in the wall. Mom and pop shop. Service: very nice lady actually. I did not experience the horrible service some have expressed. However, i came in person. Food: Banh beo-50 pcs@$ 12, Banh cuon plate @$ 4×3 plate, banh it tran/banh beo/banh loc lot plate@$ 4, and banh loc lot $ 4.25×3(went a little crazy) Food review: of all the Vietnamese food to go places i have been to, this place serve up some good moist rice paper/cake apps. The banh cuon and banh lot loc are my fave. Very fresh. When i got there before two, they had ran out of shrimp for the banh uot and only had three banh cuon left which the lady let me take.(Three different people came in after me asking for the banh cuon). You snooze you loose? So i guess what i am saying is the good stuff runs out before 2pm? Service: the lady greeted me after 5 mins. She was busy with other customer but very nice and helpful. She told me the difference of the type of food i wanted to order and was patience with me. There were other customers in there and she was courteous with all from what i can see. Based on reviews of how rude people are there, i was surprised how nice she was but keep in mind i was a walk in. I never dealt with her on the phone which seems to be some of the reviewers issues. Anyways, i would return for party platters.

Really unprofessional. So sad I had ordered food here for my reunion class but I received really bad service here. I told them that I am going to pick up the order at 6:00pm next day. They asked me «could you pick up at 5:00pm?» I said«I can’t because my work place is far away from them about an hour». Then the lady in the back was raising her tone«last time the other lady told me pick up at 6:00pm but she was late for an hour». That was the problem with that customer, how could you judge other customers the same as the other. For sure they loose me as a customer from now. Good bye Van An.

Love this place. They have very good banh beo — both the vegetarian and shrimp kind. And one of my older niece hates the dau xanh so I’m able to order without that as well. The only thing is it runs out fast so it’s unpredictable that if you come around 2 that they’ll have any. The skins are really good. I put in the fridge and it was still really good a few days later — that’s VERY rare for it to still be as soft and as yummy a few days later. Their banh hoi is pretty good. Banh cuon — good shell. pretty decent. I like the meat filling at the other place L&M down the strip better. if only i could marry my two places. this place’s shell is more like banh uot and sometimes i like my banh cuon a little thinner and a little bit chewy… can’t quite describe it. so i go back and forth and buy from both places depending on how i feel that week. surprisingly — the soi vo(i can’t spell) is really good. i didn’t expect that but i am a big fan. i’m picky about this too because my mom used to make and it was a lot of trouble. when mom got older, we ordered from a little ol’ vietnamese lady out of her garage kitchen who made the best soi. Ba De I think her name was. those of you who grew up on ordering her food will know what i mean.

So it wasn’t just me having ill feeling about this business. Last week a friend of my gf went to the same bakery to pick up 30lbs of banh hoi. She arrived just 5 mins early. The lady(I’m sure it’s the same rude biotch) was so rude and condescending. She nearly gouged her eyeballs out which I don’t blame her cause if I was still in Sj when she rudely hung up on me, I would have ended up hopping over the counter. She waited for the lady to wrap up all 30 trays of Banh hoi and rang her up. She then turns around and told that biotch she doesn’t want the Banh hoi any more because she doesn’t like her ugliness!!! Hahahahahhaha… YOUGOGIRL! Good for you! I almost died when u heard this story. This place really needs to start sprucing up on customer service skills. They need to realize that there are other vendors in the area providing the same product. These negative reviews will keep coming every time someone has to endure that sourpuss face.

This place has the worse customer service over the phone ever!!! I called in to place a big order for a birthday party. Stupid bitch was ignorant and rude as hell. She needs to take customer service training or something. How are you going to tell me that a small party tray of BANHBEO is $ 25 and a large tray is $ 8.75. I asked her to repeat the price again for the large tray. And she tells me I’m confusing. Wtf??? I told her you don’t know what the hell you are talking about. How is it $ 8.75 for a large when a small is $ 25. She then tells me that I don’t know what I am talking about. I was like bitch you need to listen to yourself and correct your pricing. I yelled at her and said you just lost a customer and I hung up! don’t even deserve one star at all!

Nice simple shop with all your basic Vietnamese fooding needs. Vietnamese sandwiches here are decent for $ 3. Spring rolls are 3 for $ 3.75 which is pretty good deal. They also sell dim sum and lunch box specials for good prices. Not sure how they taste since I haven’t tried them yet. Service is nice and the lady’s english is very good so no trouble there. Parking can be a bit of a hassle since there’s always barely enough parking and there seems to always be cars circling around. Cash only! Nice stop by for a quick grab and go so I can take my lunch to a park nearby to enjoy!

It was just okay. 3 Stars. 3. Banh Uot Tom Chay(Rice Noodle Sheet with Ground Shrimp) — $ 3.75/lb. It was not as good as their Banh Beo. 4 Stars. 4. Cha Chien — Fried pork roll/sausage. 5 stars! 5. Hanh Chai — Fried sliced shallots. 5 stars! Have to come back to try their Banh Cuon, Eggroll, and Banh Bot Loc someday. ***For larger quantities, owner recommended to call a day or two before hand*** Store opens 7 days a week and as early as 8am daily.

Van an hasn’t been review much because I think walking in to the place you don’t expect much. They have a few pre made items out but the place makes everything fresh so you tell them what you want ahead n they make it. It takes about 15 – 20 min. But the food comes out super yummy. It’s way better than buying the pre package stuff. I like this place. Parking is a big hassle. It’s small n share business with others. Anyways I discovered this place n thought I share it. It’s good.

A very nice and homey family owned Vietnamese bakery. My mom says they make their banh cuon from scratch !! I concur, you can definitely taste it ! Also like many other asian bakeries, they only accept cash, so be sure to bring plenty so you can enjoy all of the delights they have to offer.

Van An is a small Vietnamese owned shop that specializes in foods like banh coun(rice sheets) & banh beo(rice cakes). This business is tucked in the corner of the small plaza so you won’t miss it! Parking may be tough during peak hours, but they’re food is good and inexpensive! Since I was in the area, I decided to order fifty pieces of banh beo(rice cakes) from Van An. For fifty pieces of delicious rice cakes, they charge $ 8! So cheap and good! They also offer large party trays here, but call ahead of time for them! A 150 pieces of banh beo will cost you $ 24 and $ 32 for 200 pieces! Overall this is a great place to get your banh coun/banh beo fix! Great prices for party trays and The lady is very friendly!
