Best tri tip sandwich ever. John. The guy that makes the food is so nice and friendly. Definitely coming back. The outside looks a little run down. But don’t be fooled by its yourself a favor, Go inside and order a tri tip sandwich. They also make a lot of Greek food which you don’t see a lot of in SB. But I am so full with the sandwich that I’ll have to come back to see what else this great secret place has to offer!!!

Oh hell yes! I just got a gyro here and it was so good it made me angry… Mad at myself for not going here sooner! Reminds me of the Greek festival but somehow better! Don’t let the location fool you… MUST try!!!

Don’t get fooled by the run down look of the market, dark inside, the half empty shelves and coolers, the stacked up old cartons. I had a tri-tip sandwich there today, absolutely AWESOME! The bread was fresh and crisp, the meat perfectly cooked, sliced nice and thick and juicy, good fresh lettuce, sliced onions, tomatoes, totally worth the $ 10.75. I don’t really understand what the business model is, because this place has zero curb appeal, but maybe that’s how they want it, keep out the tourists and just let it be a best kept secret.

Best tri tip sandwiches hands down. Went here on a first date once and now we try to come as regularly as possible. Its a very friendly place and we feel at home. So don’t let the look of the place fool you, it’s one of the best places to eat. Delicious

Awesome food here!!! Last time I was here, I. got a meatloaf sandwich and loved it. The bread was great and the meatloaf was fantastic! This time I tried the tri tip sandwich and holy cow it was great! I’m a bbq fanatic and just moved here from Texas, so I don’t order to much bbq because I always get disappointed, nut bot here! We walked in for lunch and the owner was out on the grill cutting onto the tri tip and I got one whiff and had to order the tri tip sandwich with everything on it. Freakin great, and the bread it came on was nothing less than superb. 5 stars! It’s got kinda a weird set up inside but don’t let that fool you, walk in and order some of the best food in town!!! Owner is a nice guy and was telling us he hand picks all the veggies every day from the market and you can taste the difference. Great quality food and is usually not to crowded. Worth a visit!!!

I have heard good things about MacKenzie Market over the years, particularly the gyros. I have only had the BLT and today it was just spectacular. I was unaware of the little shaded patio to the side, just a bit back from the parking lot, and found it the perfect place to read for an hour or two, though the chairs are not meant to be used for longer than an hour(unless, I suppose, one has a great deal of natural padding). And I’m not even into bacon; if for any reason I could not eat bacon, I would not care very much. But on occasion, I do like a good BLT and the wheat bread is toasted just a bit, with a prodigious amount of fresh iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes and still warm bacon. It’s 8.99 which isn’t cheap but really could be served at Marmalade or any comparable restaurant in town. The bacon was thickly cut, almost like the kind I had at from a gourmet store in DC a few months ago. I had a peach iced tea of which I had not heard(Spring Leaf, I think) and a V8 as well. This is a family-owned market and the owner and his mother run the shop with the kind of old-world warmth not often found in SB. It’s by Trimm Salon and Color Bar, where I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored for four years, but I never go in if I’m not getting my hair done. The Greek potato salad is like German potato salad(no mayo) and quite good. I had a pasta salad while my color was being pulled through and learned from a FB friend who worked at the Bank of the West before moving out of state, that she loves this place too. It is a bit strange the way one entrance is permanently chained off, however. My boyfriend’s mother thought it was odd as well and it prevented her from going in the few times she thought of it. You can eat inside but the patio is so much nicer and they bring your food promptly. I agree with other reviewers that it’s worth the money. P. S. I might be wrong but I think when I first moved here, this was a gas station. That’s why one of the reviewers noted that it looked like a mini-mart. Definitely the interior is a bit shabby but this patio really is lovely. If you took one of those pillows some people take to ballgames, you’d be just fine sitting for 90 minutes enjoying a book.

I went here because of 16 other reviews giving the food no less than 4 stars. I tried the Greek gyro, best thing I have tasted in a long time. I called the cook after eating it and thanked him for the wonderful food. I will be a regular at this place for a long time!

Really good tri tip sandwich… I never knew about this place, I was walking by and decided to try it based on the two Unilocal reviews I read. I was very impressed and surprised to find out they also sold Greek groceries(not many but still they sell some) as well as gyros. It’s not the nicest looking place from the inside or outside but the sandwich is really good and the owner is really nice. Sandwich is a pretty good size, not huge but not small. Definitely worth the money

The best tri-tip sandwich I have EVER eaten(and I’m not so young). The meat is slow cooked on an outdoor grill in some secret greek spices and put together with all the fixens on a soft roll. Heaven. You would never know that this place is actually a Greek deli from the outside, not until you enter and meet the super-friendly Greek owners. There is also a nice selection of greek salads and also catering. The menu is big and varied, but I am sticking with the tri-tip.

Just discovered this place today on a friend’s recommendation. From the outside, it looks like a mini-mart but there’s a deli inside and they have a patio where you can sit and eat. They grill their own tri-tip. YUM! And they are super friendly there.
