I really enjoyed this place. My fiancé and I went for breakfast. I got the American breakfast. It’s pretty much what you would expect with bacon, eggs and pancakes. Although it’s simple enough it really fueled me for hours after. The staff was very friendly. I heard them calling their guests by name, so you know that the locals even love it, which equals a good sign in my book. If you’re in the are I would highly recommend. Enjoy! P.S– for certain dishes they will ask you if you want red, green or christmas. Christmas means a mix of both the red and green chili.

Fantastic food… They made vegetarian plates to order for two in our party. We ate on the balcony, very nice.

Yikes, this place is amazing! We were there on Friday, July 19, 2013 near closing time and they stayed open for us. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The owners are a husband-wife team and we loved them. The green chili macaroni & cheese was ridiculous and the fried poblanos as well. The wife thought we waited too long for one of our orders of peppers so she comp-ed it for us. I didn’t even notice we were waiting a long time. What a great restaurant, great couple. Christmas! Yes, both sauces were amazing!!!

Went in out of convenience since it was located in the hotel and sat in the bar after making sure it was ok to order food there. One of the bar staff brought us drinks and then pretty much forgot about us. When a server from the restaurant finally arrived, we were able to place our order and she was relatively quick to bring us the food. After that, we were ignored for a long time. Getting refills was pretty much impossible. Food was very meh, service was bad.

We were fortunate to get a reservation for Memorial Day weekend, Friday night! The specials were out of this world, delicious. I had the most fabulous lamb and my husband, ribs. We asked to tell the chef how much we enjoyed the food. The appetizer chile rellenos was unbelievable, I had to ask to keep the plate and ask for a spoon. The sauce was magnificent! Service was great! Go there!

Great breakfast here. Please order the red chile. Our server Paula was so nice to me. She knew I was sick and tried all she could to make me feel better. Thanks for a fun weekend.

Simply awful breakfast. Server was overwhelmed, food was underwhelming. Corn bread was horrible, pancakes were weird and I’ve had better eggs at McDonald’s. Do not waste your time going here. Also, so quiet it was like a library.

Tia’s Cocina is a nice upscale New Mexican restaurant just off the Plaza. The actual restaurant is located in the Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe and is on two floors. Downstairs is a more relax and casual bar area, while upstairs is a slightly more formal dining restaurant. Our greeter told us that they both serve from the same menu. From the hotel’s website they offer: «Our Santa Fe boutique hotel is dedicated to the art of New Mexican homestyle cooking and serves up traditional Southwestern food recipes handed down through the generations.» We found the food to be more nouveau cuisine and less of the red/green Christmas tree choices you tend to get in other Santa Fe restaurants. We ordered the Grilled flattened chicken breast served with calabacitas and pinto beans, quelites for $ 18.00, which was okay. Given it was marinated in red chilies you would have thought it would have had more flavor, but we found it to be on the bland side. We also tried the Torta de Huevo which is an egg fritters dish marinated in Chimayo red chile served with pinto beans with chicos and a tortilla for $ 16.00. It was good. As for libations, I guess we were underwhelmed by the dink selection. We asked what tequila drinks they had, like a margaritas and found they were somewhat limited. So, we ordered two prickly pear cactus drinks for $ 12.00 each. When they came we asked if their was some mistake since they served us two small(see photo) 8 oz juice or highball glasses of a bright(day glow) yellow and pink mixtures, which were overly tart and overflowing with ice. Oh, well. Our total came with Tax and Tip to $ 72.00

I wish there was a way, on Unilocal,to rate each thing about a business. I’m having a hard time deciding on the star rating. The food was incredible, absolutely delicious. My daughter & I started out with the guacamole which was very tasty, a little on the spicy side, but really good. Then we shared chicken filled Village Tacos. I loved them. My daughter didn’t really like the tortilla because it was corn so I just swapped her some chicken for her tortilla & had one veggie taco. I asked the waitress not to put the lettuce & cheese on one of the tacos & she told me she wasn’t sure she could do that because they didn’t like to deviate from the menu. Really?! It’s freakin’ cheese & lettuce that just doesn’t need to be put on ONE taco.(I was already irritated with this woman, so her giving me a hard time about something so petty infuriated me even more). For dessert we «shared» Bunuelos. My daughter loved them, so I didn’t get to try but a couple of bites & they were delicious. The food was great & I would give the place 5 stars if it was solely based on food. However… We walk upstairs to the restaurant & there’s not really anyone around because most customers are sitting outside(who wouldn’t want to?!). What I think was a waitress asks us if there is just the two of us & if we want to sit outside. No sooner than I say«yes, that’s perfect», and she is walking us toward the outside seating area, the woman I mentioned above, tells her not to seat us because she’s trying to give the kitchen a 10 minute break since there was a large party. Really? So we can’t sit & have a drink & look over the menu & enjoy being on vacation? I popped back with just that. I probably should have just left & found some other place to eat, but we were tired, thirsty & just wanted to enjoy our last night in Santa Fe. She said we could be seated as long as we were willing to wait a bit. That didn’t bother me, but I had to pop off again & ask if we would have to wait the 10 minutes for water or if we could arrange to get that. The look on her face made it clear she realized how stupid she was acting(she had the same look when I called her on not putting cheese & lettuce on the taco). I think we got our water filled once without asking & then had to almost beg to get it filled anymore. A table close to us was having trouble with her too. From what I gathered, they wanted separate checks & she didn’t want to break them up after they had already ordered. The man that was the speaker for the group didn’t relent & they got their check divided up. Had the place been completely packed, I could understand. The only part of it that was packed was the outside area that literally seats about 35 people. This place would be almost perfect if they would get rid of the stupid woman with the superiority complex! I guess she hasn’t figured out that the customer is who pays her bills!

Extremely slow service. «Village Tacos» consisted of two Taco Bell tacos, bland beans and rice I couldn’t eat for $ 15. The beer wasn’t on the menu, and only after receiving my bill did I realize it was $ 5.75 a bottle. The priest seated near me was served a piece of corn bread that was so hard he couldn’t pierce it with a fork. A gentleman at another table was served a bottle of warm Budweiser, that he sent back. He had to wait about 10 minutes for a replacement. After an extremely long wait for dinner, he asked the busboy if he could have some chips or bread to munch on while waiting. He was offered the appetizer menu, when, in my view some complimentary chips and dip should have appeared instantly. There are many better choices in Santa Fe. Will not return.

Tia’s Cocina in the Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe provided an ok if quirky dining experience recently. On a cool evening, my wife and I were seated near the fireplace, which was nice, but were told by the waiter seating us that he was putting us at this 4-top, but would probably move us to a 2-top when the table was needed. Ha! Now we’re pescatarians, and the menu is a little tough if avoiding meat. When I asked our waitress whether the kitchen could be flexible, she shot me an exasperated eye-roll. Nice. Long story short, my wife ordered the pan-fried trout, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered both rellenos, the modern, not battered and fried but baked and served on a skim of Chimayo red sauce. Loved the sauce, but the plate was not hot, so the sauce cooled on the way to the table, resulting in coagulated cheese and a cool chile. Beautiful presentation, but not as satisfying to eat as the classic relleno, served on a bed of green chile sauce that was essentially chopped chiles. Service was comparatively inattentive after the meal was served — our waitress asked in passing whether everything was ok, but was already out of range before I could answer. Our reservation was for 7 p.m., and we left about 8. Maybe 20 people were in the house over that time, and when we left, the place was nearly empty. What a relief! We didn’t need to carry our plates to a smaller table. I wonder if the solo guy who was seated at a 2-top was told he’d be moved to the sidewalk when his table was needed for a couple?

My wife and I recently visited Santa Fe from Northern Virginia and were very much looking forward to authentic New Mexican cuisine as part of the experience. We were told by friends to try«The Shed» which is a very popular but small eatery in the downtown Plaza. Don’t waste you’re time unless you have 2 or 3 hours to wait or know the secret handshake(actually, an unposted list that locals or VIP’s use to make reservations) Right around the corner upstairs at the Hotel Chimayo is a wonderful restaurant called«Tia Cosina». We found it by talking to the hotel bartender«Frito»(awesome server) while waiting for the shed to open. He told us that their food was even better, so when we were disappointed at the first place we returned and took Frito’s suggestion. What a meal! Everything was superb as advertised. I was especially impressed with the Chile Rellenos, made with Anaheim(not Poblano) peppers… so tasty! The Plato De Chimayo includes the best ever cheese enchilada, a real southwestern tamale and a fabulous taco(be sure to ask for Christmas Chile — red and green). We were so impressed that we returned for breakfast the next morning for an equally awesome meal that included blue corn pancakes, and(for me) a large portion of Chorizo con Huevos… with X-mas chile, of course! Trust a San Diego native, you will be pleasantly impressed with this southwestern experience… and you won’t have to learn a new dance or handshake to get in.

I was in Santa Fe 5 nights and ate here twice it was so good. Their green chili sauce and guacamole is outstanding. I had the cheese enchiladas with a sea of green chili sauce… hmm, still want more. There chili rellenos were pretty good too. While I was in the restaurant I even go to meet Chef Estevan… very cool! Definitely try this place out if you are in Santa Fe.(only reason not 5 stars is the rellenos could have been a bit better… but everything else was outstanding.

We love Tia’s Cocina for both casual drinks & appetizers to a full-blown meal. A great place that everyone should experience while here, whether a resident(as we are) or a tourist. The menu is not as extensive as some, but what they have is very good. Today, we had the Hot Dogs, touted to be the«best in New Mexico» and I’d have to agree. The Farmer’s Market Vegetable Soup is always a winner, as is the Posole. Ambiance is wonderful: casual elegance, comfortable & lovely interior/exterior seating options. The upstairs balcony in the summer is heavenly, as is the outdoor music which often has people dancing in the streets! Staff is ALWAYS pleasant, happy, friendly & ever so helpful.

WOW! Not sure if the people reviewing this have an actual tongue with taste buds but, this was the worst experience Ever. First. How do you have a vegetarian option(they have several) and serve pinto beans with bacon? Everything we asked for we specified vegetarian, as it was Labeled on the menu. So more than likely nothing is vegetarian. I am a restauranteur and was appalled at what I saw in the kitchen when I went back to approach the«cooks» as I’m a chef and wanted to inquire. Deplorable conditions. The«manager» was rude and said she would call the cops on us. For what? Holding you accountable for your incompetence as a manager of a restaurant. Also, had no apology and acted as if it were no big deal at all. As my family and I looked at each other with amazement we couldn’t help but laugh at the way people think they can conduct business. STAYAWAYATALLCOST. Taco bell will be your better bet. There is no way there is a Chef on property here. Unless he just came from Taco Bell. TOURISTTRAP1

Breakfast was great! Excellent green and red. Very accommodating kitchen. They made several swaps out for instance oatmeal instead of bacon on the blue corn pancakes. Another diner was swooning over their green chili sausage so we added to our breakfast. Yummy! Still tastes like breakfast sausage but with a little kick. And very moist… used pork shoulder with all the fat most probably!

What a pleasant surprise!!! Had dinner last night and being the night before Thanksgiving it was very quiet but the food was worth the walk from our home. The chile relleno appetizer was fabulous but not sure why it is $ 11, and why it doesn’t come with tortillas to sop up the sauce!!! The torta huevo was one of the most imaginative and new New Mexican dishes I have had in a long time. The Chimayo red sauce was delicious and just the right amount of heat. The posole was good too! We will be back for a repeat!
