Underated casual Mexican dining in the underserved South Park neighborhood. What I enjoy about this place is that the menu encompasses dishes from Oaxaca. Try the tlayudas or the give the«Hawaiian» torta for try. Not a place for a burrito, but definitely a deviation from the standard Mexican fare that Seattle offers.

Oh. My. Gosh. We accidentally discovered Mi Fondita Del Itsmo this morning after our attempt at a brunch at Tasty T&M’s down the street didn’t work out. We drove past it and saw only Latinos from outside and decided it was probably because it’s really authentic. We weren’t wrong. We ordered: chips, carne asada, caldo pescado, chicken quesadilla, chicken tamale with green sauce. Total was $ 35(two sodas included). Reasonable! Nothing came fast, but once it got to the table, it became clear why: they made everything so fresh. Even the chips. My caldo was divine. It was an enormous bowl of piping hot, tomato-based broth, generously loaded with bone-in fish pieces and prawns. It’s a brilliant, low-carb, protein-rich alternative to those noodle soups you’d crave during cold, rainy days. The carne asada was a plate of a giant meat portion, Spanish rice, and refried beans. The meat could use a tad more flavor, but the rice had a slightly bolder flavor than most I’ve tried, which was great. The chicken quesadilla was full of good chunks of meat, and the cheese tasted smoky. The tamale, the last item to get to the table, was so fresh. The filling tasted more subtle than I’d prefer, but it was good nonetheless. This place’s vibe definitely reminded me of many of those humble, super-legit Mexican hole-in-the-wall restaurants I loved going to when I lived in Los Angeles. Nothing fancy, a pair of Mexican TVs blasting on the wall, Spanish-speaking colored people. One thing I noticed, though, was the absence of salsa on the table or any of the dishes. The chips were served with refried beans, which was delicious, but a salsa alongside it would’ve been nice, too. The red and green hot sauces on the table were really spicy and awesome, however. Overall, it’s a winner! I will come back over and over again for more delicious, authentic Mexican dishes! P.S. They do take cards!

This place is now my favorite local mexican restauraunt hands down. The portions and flavors are awesome! They went out of their way to make me «super nachos» that were amazing acompanied with their incredible creamy avocado salsa. I also order the massive carne asada burrito, but substitute onion& cilantro for the lettuce so no worries with soggy lettuce. They have won the south park mexican food war in my book.

You get a big burrito there, and for the price it is a pretty good deal. I did not like the lettuce int he burrito, got a little soggy and the flavor was a little on the mild side. There are other things I would like to try and give an update on the review.

A truly excellent experience. The sign says Authentic Mexican Food. I had the Bistec a la Mexicana. Whether it was real Mexican, I have no idea but it was outstanding. Took a doggy bag home and it is for my partner so she can enjoy it too. I wish I lived closer. I will be back. Clean and unpretentious. Good service.

Wonderful new Mexican restaurant on the South Park strip. Badass 99 cent tacos and absurd $ 2 pupusas! Also noticed some lovely looking Barbacoa, an oft-neglected choice in Mexican restaurants of the NW. My meal set me back a whole $ 5. So, yeah, pretty damn pleased with this place. My new favorite place in my favorite corner of town.
