The Tacos de Marlin are bomb! Regular fish tacos are good, not fishy. Haven’t really ventured out besides these items, but the Aguas Chiles& cocktails looked bomb! Highly recommend!

We usually come here after church around 11−12noon. We come for their fish tacos. They use to be called Mariscos, they’re under new management. I forget the new name. Not that they were«bad» before, but what a differ nex a day makes! Lots of great new food options. We seen the table over get served the steak n eggs… Wow! Looked great! We had our usual, fish tacos. Fish was crispy outside and nice white meat inside. Lots of fresh cabbage and great white sauce. The salsa was also yummy! Def check this spot out for Authentic Mexican food. Added bonus… Staff was VERY friendly and had great customer service.

My coworker and I have lunch here at least once a week. I can’t get over this place. The customer service has been great since day one. Best ceviche made in SD. Fully recommend this place.

Definitely going back. Sometimes it’s the hole in the wall spots that are the best! It’s not fancy but seafoods fresh prices are really good too!

Before judging my review please read my other posts. With that said the only reason this place gets two stars is because the fish tacos are cheap and tasty. The shrimp cocktails are average price but still rather good. Now let’s get into the poor customer service and why I would stay away from this place. –My first time I visited this place the server did not attend to us and we had to go to the cook to order. –During the same visit my parents asked for some substitutions on their order and they did not want to accommodate them. My pops is lactose intolerant and diabetic so he asked for the shrimp entrée with no rice, but to have double the beans with no cheese. You would think that would be simple enough but the server kept saying that the plate doesn’t come like that. Eventually she agreed. Next was my mom who asked for the shrimp cocktail with no onions. The server said that the salsa is premade and they cannot separate the onions. We looked over at the kitchen and one of the prep cooks was dicing up tomato and cilantro and asked why she couldn’t just have what he was chopping… the server had to oblige but she did not seem too happy. –My second experience at this place was almost the same. Once again I went with my parents and they ordered the same thing except now they would not make a shrimp cocktail without any onions so my mom had to order something else. –My third, most recent and last experience at this place came today. The server brought us chips and a bottle of hot sauce for the table as we sat down. I asked for some salsa and the server said«just squeeze some of the hot sauce over the chips»…I once again asked if they had salsa and she said yes. She left thinking she was going to being some out, instead she brought out a small plate and squeezed some of the hot sauce onto the plate and said here is your salsa. Yup that was the last straw. The seafood is good but it’s not worth the poor customer service.

Always on the look out for a good place to eat with lots of local flavor. Honestly, the place looks a bit sketchy from the outside, but the food was GREAT! Tried the grilled fish burrito and it was delish! Heard great reviews of the shrimp burrito as well. Burritos were very big. Can’t wait to try more on the menu. Will definitely be back.

I’m super stoked to have found this joint. This place totally transported me to a baja taco spot down to the part where they give you chips w/lime but no salsa. I also love that they had like 5 different hot sauces on the table ‘cuz that’s how we Mexicans do. We like variety in our table side selection of hot sauce. I went there w/the hubbs(who isn’t Mexican), he was a little off put that this place looked so ethnic and kinda sketchy. I mean 99 cent fish tacos? really? What kind of fish like substance is this really? And let’s face it he’s a germaphobe and didn’t quite take to the cook having a snack near the make line in the kitchen, I on the other hand thought it was in keeping w/the whole authenticity of the place, cuz you would totally see that in Mexico. But hey we watched closely and the dude washed his hands, so we can all exhale and order comfortably. Hubbs ordered fish tacos and after a long internal debate on whether or not I could finish an entire aguachile by myself I settled on the infamous Marlin taco and a shrimp taco. And both were LEGITIMATELY authentic and suuuper tasty. Hubbs was also converted and we will totally be going back again!

I have tried the Mariscos trucks and they are way better than this location. My brother loves the octopus clam cocktail here so I give them two stars for his experience. My fish taco was raw and there’s so much construction going on basically next to your head that you can barely speak to the person next to you. Service was horrible had to get up and go inside to ask for anything. Won’t be back.

$ 1FISHTACOSEVERYDAYOFTHEWEEK??? Eat your heart out Taco Tuesday! The cool thing is that they offer ‘exotic’ cuts of meat such as tripa or cabeza, in addition to the regular meaty madness like carne asada or carnitas. The complimentary seafood soup they offer once you sit down is a fun little concoction that’s sour, spicy, and… I actually have no idea what kind of seafood they throw in there but it’s damn good!

Hortencia’s Taco Shop is closed down, so I decided to try this taco shop less than 50 feet away. Complete disappointment. They have signs outside and inside advertising tacos al carbon, but at lunchtime there were no tacos al carbon, and no tacos with various meats for 1.99, despite the large sign at the register advertising 1.99 meat tacos. I was told to return at 3pm for this. The only options for lunch were for seafood, which I do love. The regulars will disagree with me, but I thought their fish tacos were awful.

Looked fun so I thought I would try it. THE best fish tacos I have had. A huge piece of fish perfectly battered and light fried with yummy cabbage, salsa fresca and the perfect amount of creamy white sauce. I did not stop there. The carne asada and shredded pork tacos were equally as flavorful. A diamond in the rough. I can picture the place going off in the Summer. Great Patio with palapa topped umbrellas. The cook is set up outside with a huge oven/grill. All the authentic sides(fresh marinated carrots/peppers etc) Affordable and tasty… worth a taste

Everything on their menu is good. I love the 99c Fish Tacos. But the best tacos here are the Marlin Tacos AMAZING… They do take awhile to make the food but the wait is well worth it. 4.5 Stars

I have been living in Spring Valley now for eleven years and this place has been down the street from me for a only a few years now. My mother and I always pass it and see their 99 cent fish tacos sign saying we will eat there for dinner. We only recently went their and got four fish tacos for my whole family. It was amazing the fish was warm and crunchy and they topped it off with cool lettuce and tomatoes. I was always going to Rubios thinking i was getting myself a good deal on taco Tuesday, but i am a little disappointed in myself for only now just going there. It feels very lively when you walk in, they play music and it has all these festive colors. The people there are nice and welcoming too, and the priced seem less than any other taco shop i have been to.

Wow. Super cheap very high quality fresh seafood tacos of all types. I have been there when I couldn’t get the taco I wanted because they didn’t catch any octopus that day. I recommend all of the items but the smoked fish is my favorite. The tacos are usually 2 to 3 dollars apiece and you receive plenty of food and usually will be served free seafood soup while waiting. Also, make sure you read the menu outside the door before you enter because all of the writing inside is in spanish.

I knocked out two birds with one stone by driving out to Spring Valley. First, visited my girlfriend that had just moved out there. Second, which I wasn’t exactly planning on doing but was happily surprised to come across… authentic street, fish tacos! Hooooray! It’s been a good couple of weeks since the start of Lent and I keep saying that one of these Fridays. I will… I will. get my feeshie taco grub on. But okay. okay, so it was a Saturday… but once I drove by, I knew at some point that night. I will.I will get my feeshie taco grub on. And so I did… here’s what I ordered: 1 fish taco 1 fish tostada(which is more like fish cocktail that’s served in a container that came along with 3 tostada shells) Total=less than $ 5.00 Ate the fish taco first. Decent size fish, not overly breaded, that was piled with cabbage and pico de gallo. I asked for the sauce on the side, like I do with most sauces. it was good I tell ya! No signs or taste of heavy greese in my mouth. and I was full. off of ONE taco. Yup. but since I was so eager to taste the tostada, I took a quick break… breathe in, breathe out. okay I’m ready. They hooked it up! Plenty of fish with the right amount of fresh tomatoes, onions and everything flavorful. Squeezed a couple of limes in there. added a good amount of Tapatio… good stuff! Couldn’t even finish it. I was stuffed! Delish.fresh…plenty…and definitely cheap! Fortunately, there are other German’s closer to my home that I have actually been meaning to go to that I don’t have to drive all the way out to SV. Though, I guarantee my visits with my friend will frequently include getting my feeshie taco grub on.

I have something to admit: I live in Spring Valley, and I don’t like Saritas. There, I said it. I’ve been on he hunt for an amazing taco shop for years, and had finally jst given up hope. So imagine my shock when I found this place whilst waiting for an oil change! The carne asada tacos(available from Sunday through Thursday) are freaking incredible. Not your normal salty/chewy/overcooked meat fried on a griddle, this is the real deal. You know that you’re in a good place when there’s a guy outside loading charcoal into a grill for the dinner rush. You walk in, and you’re met with loud music and people joking around in a completely exposed, spotlessly clean kitchen. Yes, the menu is entirely in Spanish, but if you live here you can pretty much figure out what things are. And if not, they’re reeeal cool about telling you! The garlic shrimp tacos are amazing, the Caldo de 7 Mares is incredible, and when they do their carne asada, it’s nothing short of godly! I completely recommend this! Thank God I never have to go to Sarita’s again!
