Every time I am in the NOVA area, Aabshar is my go to place for my Pakistani craving fix. They have amazing fresh naan(kulcha), with all specialty fresh grill items like Bihari kabab, chicken tikka & chapli kabab, just to name a few of my favorites. Their biryani is never too oily and is always just right amount of spice, and masala. Best paki-Indian food in town hands down. Oh yeah forgot to mention, their mithai(sweets) are out of this world awesome. Must try their gulab jaman and kheer.

Went here to open fast, all the food was cold and tasted horrible, service was lackluster. They ran out of food and told us to wait one hour. The manager didn’t care one bit of the people complaints. Bottom line don’t go here, you will be better of at dera which is across the street.

The worst food I have ever had. They are so cheap, so they serve leftovers for Buffett. I didn’t even have to taste the food before I could just tell it was leftovers they had warmed up. Only one dish was fresh I could tell, but everything else were leftovers. I will never go here again.

If you’re looking for a fine dining experience with a beautiful ambience and amazing service then this isn’t the spot for you. If you’re nitpicky about stuff like that you’ll find something to complain about but if you’re looking for paki-indo cuisine that tastes really good at reasonable prices, then you’ll love this place. I eat here all the time. I can tend to be a picky eater but the food here always hits the spot. The lunch/dinner buffet gets you basics like biryani, chicken tandoori kabobs, nan, rice, and a lot of other great stuff. If you can’t handle spicy food then don’t overeat here and stay light or you’ll deal with the acid reflux later. Overall if you’re into this type of food I’d highly recommend it, by far some of the best Paki food in Northern VA.

My family has been coming here for years. It’s authentic Pakistani food with reasonable prices. I know some of my uncles are die hard fans of this place but it’s a bit too greasy for me. I guess thats why they love it, lol. I wouldn’t personally come here on my own or recommend it to friends. It’s close enough to my moms house and they love grabbing goodies from here. I do appreciate their Mithai and Samosas. This isn’t the best Mithai out there but still good. Their Samosas are on point, especially with that sweet red sauce it comes with. Yum! Quite of bit of seating is available. Service is a hit or miss. Restroom is in the back and could be cleaner.

This restaurant has incredibly rude employees and management. Not only is that true, the food is of sub par quality and the establishment is dirty and smells. The bathroom made it seem like I was in the dirtiest river in India and the buckets where you use to make ablution had urine in it. The workers hang up on you when you call if they can’t hear you or are busy. Absolutely terrible and rude owners. They even attempt to be violent with you if you make a complaint. Stay away!!!

Went for brunch/halwa puri on a Saturday. The weekend buffet features halwa, channa, and paya(maybe nihari? I don’t remember), along with biryani and other typical desi buffet items. We ordered some puri(fried bread) to eat with the halwa and channa, and dug in. The puri was very oily, as were the halwa and channa. All rather tasty, but the grease slowed me down. The paaya(feet stew) was really delicious. Overall the meal was okay, but not amazing. I wouldn’t choose to come back on my own but wouldn’t mind coming in a group.

This place is amazing. Between my husband and I we tried the nihari, chicken tikka boneless, chicken karahi and mixed vegetables. After reading all the reviews here and not sure what to expect, I walked away impressed. My husband, who’s not a big fan of nihari(at all!) loved it too. I’m definitely going back.

This restaraunt has been around for quite a while, at least 8 or more years I believe. We had not eaten there in many years, but after a family member recently advised they’ve eaten there regularly and the food was great, we tried it again. We enjoyed the lunch buffet which offered a nice assortment of curried dishes as well as appetizers like samosa and pakora and dessert as well, like gulab jamun. The curries on the buffet were very tasty and nicely spiced. Chickpeas and keema were incredible! They provided us with an abbundance of fresh and tasty naan as well and also did a nice job keeping an eye on our needs at the table and refilling water. The restaurant was clean and well-kept and so were the restrooms. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys curries and kabobs, definitely a great place for that!

This is authentic Pakistani food. As such, pretty darn hot and oily. The karahi and chicken tikka masala are great, but certainly ask for them toned down. During ramadan, they have their special kachori. Prices are creeping up here, but definitely one of the top pakistani restaurants of its type in the area. A must try.

If you are considering holding a party in the banquet hall here, think again. Management is horrible and has no customer respect. I attended a women’s only party here where management agreed that no men would be allowed to walk around in the kitchen area(which looks into the banquet area). Instead of respecting these wishes, management actually had a fit when customers asked that the entrance from the hall into the kitchen be covered. I have never been treated with so much disrespect, lack of courtesy and plain obstinacy. Will definitely NOT be recommending this place to anyone.

Worst experience ever. Attended a wedding here last weekend and had the great misfortune of watching the extremely rude manager and his equally incompetent servers yelling at customers. The food was Ok. But after that service, I can never go back there. Do yourself a service, and stay away.

You’re located in Springfield, Virginia… not Peshawar, Pakistan. Why is your food so OVERLY-spicey?! Try to cater to Americans a little more. I ate here and gagged on the food because it was so spicey.

I come here relatively often, usually bringing friends that have never tried Indian food, or just for the buffet. I will say that the service in general isn’t as good as it was a few years ago, however it has also gotten better recently. There also aren’t really many other nearby Indian restaurants. The butter chicken here is very good, and the naan is always made perfectly. The chickpea curry is made very well here, and goes very well with the naan. I don’t order food too often except for butter chicken or lamb tikka. The gulab Jamun and the Jalebi here is always worth getting as well!

I’ll have to update this review with more details later on! On my most recent visit to Abshaar, I headed for their bakery section. My cousin was pregnant with her second son and all she could keep down were these fabulous Namak Parras. They were great! Not overwhelmed with grease at all. Very crispy!

I was staying at the nearby Motel 6 because it was cheap, and went walking around looking for a late lunch. It was a Sunday afternoon, and I saw the sign«Abshaar Kabobs & Sweets». «Sweet,» I thought, «I can get some shishkabobs!». Uh, no. I was wrong. When I entered, I was asked if I wanted the buffet or to see a menu. I chose the buffet by asking«what’s on the buffet?»(apparently there was a breakdown in communication, but that’s ok). It turns out that what was on the buffet was spicy delicious mystery food, but no shishkabobs — in fact, nothing I would call a kabob at all(maybe what I think of as kabobs are on the menu, I don’t know). The food was all Indian, or perhaps Pakistani or Bangladeshi. I’m not familiar enough with that region’s food to know the difference. I’m also not familiar enough with the food to be able to name any of it, and unfortunately the buffet was unlabeled. I also can’t name the ingredients beyond the obvious ones(rice, chicken, potato, peas, etc.). What I can say is that the food was very spicy, but delicious. There were triangular fried pastries filled with potatoes and diced peppers — spicy and delicious. There was stewed chicken(spicy and delicious), and stewed Ithinkitwasgoat(spicy, delicious, but like all goat I’ve ever had, filled with obnoxious goat bones). There was a stewed dish of peas and potatoes(spicy and delicious). There was rice with vegetables and bits of chicken(seasoned and delicious). There was a definite pattern: strongly flavored flood, all of it delicious. I didn’t get shishkabobs, but I did get something I liked a whole lot.

This place was awesome. Me and my date went for the buffet after having their catering at a wedding. I don’t know what half the stuff was, but the chickpeas and the vegetables were spicy and delicious. The staff kept the water and the naan coming, which was perfect given my relatively low tolerance for spicy food. I’d definately go back again.

Abshaar has a great weekend brunch buffet, with excellent Halwa Puri and choolas. Its food is always tasty, and the brunch/lunch spread offerings are decent. Worth visiting, and definately worth the weekend halwa puri craving! Verdict: For brunch in the metro DC area, this place tops the options, though for dinner I would prefer Chutny’s(also in Springfield — just down the road).
