I enjoyed the vibe here: even though it’s a beer bar, it felt like an intimate cocktail bar, but without the pretense and with more space for groups, kind of like a less industrial-feeling ITAP. There’s a ton of craft beer on tap from all over the country(some Belgians, too) – not as Midwest-centric as some places around here. Cool.

Nice décor and beer selection. BUT the music sucks unless you are a hillbilly. Change the genre of music please to accommodate the atmosphere and décor.

The negative: I came here on my birthday with a big group of friends. Reading the reviews and looking at the pictures I was excited to try out the game room with everyone. When we arrived it was fairly busy at the bar but the game room door was locked. When we asked if we could use the room we were told the room has to be rented from Moulin. I guess they only opened the rooms to the public on some days? This was pretty disappointing. It was hard to find room to sit for my party. The positive: the pizzas were pretty good that we ordered(from PW pizza), and the selection of beer was good as well.

Honestly, this place was a pretty big waste of time and money. My girlfriend, friends, and I went here for New Years last night. We paid $ 85 to get in for an open bar which seemed fair before we arrived. When we got in, they had limited their bar to really cheap beers, a few alcohols, and pretty much no real mixed drinks. The bartenders there didn’t even know how to make most drinks more complicated than rum and coke… The music was mediocre at best and there were some snack foods. The most obnoxious part was when we decided that we could at least try to have a little fun hanging out and playing shuffleboard. The table had one of the end boards broken by some drunk girl about an hour earlier, but the table was still playable, so we just pushed the board back in and played. The bouncer came up and tried getting in our faces and blaming us about the table. Multiple people stepped in to let him know it wasn’t us and then we asked if we could still play on the table since it wasn’t going to get worse. He stayed being douchey and disrespectful to us and then the manager told us not to play on the table so that nobody else would get hurt. So we ended the night sitting down on the chairs and trying to get drunk off of the weak drinks they made at the bar. TL;DR Don’t waste your time or money at this place, at least not for New Years. The bouncer is a total chach, the bartenders are inexperienced, the music is mediocre, and the place is nowhere worth what they charge.

Excellent selection of craft beer, excellent prices, and an excellent bar tender(I believe his name was Ty). I think I just found my new favorite bar in St. Louis.

Came in for a friends birthday party and our group basically took over a corner of the bar. Our server/bartender was amazing! I don’t know how she kept everyone’s order straight, but she handled it like a total pro. I was a beer drinker this evening and there were plenty of choices on tap and our bartender helped me make my choices. Pizza’s easily serve 2 – 3 people each. Lots of topping choices and the quality is pretty good. Not crisp enough for my personal preference, but my group had no complaints. Would certainly come back as the bar is big enough to accommodate groups of all sizes.

Interesting, very interesting. It has a prohibition era /cellar feeling to it that is very unique. They have a lot of taps, another Unilocaler said 50 and I’d say that’s about right. The selection was very midwest heavy, many of which I’ve not heard of. You ought to be able to find something you like and they will pour you a sample. The bartenders were very friendly. We were a little confused on how to order but eventually figured out you have go to the bar because there was only 2 people working the entire place. The beer list was on a clipboard at the bar. It would have been helpful to have more menus as well as a waitress. The have an atmosphere better than Itap, but Itap’s service is better since they have ample menus and waitresses. A solid 4

This is a place that’s comfortable, cozy and affords you 50 by the tap beers! Food can be ordered from the PW Pizza menu while you relax on leather sofas and listen to music or watch sports… There a a great back deck for beautiful days and evenings but no matter where you sit it’s a relaxing kick-back environment with really good pizza, sandwiches, and appetizers! And the beer selection is excellent-again, 50 on tap!

They have a great selection of local beers to enjoy while sitting at the bar or lounging at their several leather couches. The best part is that you can order pizza right off of the PW pizza menu. PW pizza is delicious! I found it to be a bit too dark in here for it being 6/7pm.

21st Street Brewer’s Bar is your ideal man cave(or woman cave), assuming said man/woman is a fan of dark woods/leathers, TV’s for watching the game, comfy couches, pizza and craft beer. The booze: The offer a full selection of drinks(liquor, wine, etc) but what you really come here for is the craft beer. There’s 40+ taps and that and more bottles available at any given time. This puts it up there with ITAP and Flying Saucer in the local beer bar scene. What sets the apart from their more seasoned competitors is a focus on local and regional beers. I’d estimate 90% of what was on tap when I was there came from within 150 miles of St. Louis. This includes options from Rolla and Poplar Bluff that you don’t see too often in St. Louis. If you’ve got friends coming into town and they want to try as many regional beers as possible THIS is where you want to take them. The Food: Since PW Pizza is right upstairs you’ve got a pretty good option for when all those craft beers start making you hungry. It’s a pretty good pie and they cover the spectrum from basic sausage/pepperoni to your more novel combinations like«creole». It may not a destination dining spot but it’s sure as hell a great place to get some grub while having drinks. Atmosphere/Service: Every review here gives you the same rundown on the setting. Comfortable/casual/lounge vibe. More upscale than ITAP or Flying Saucer, which may or may not be your thing. I will say this the dark, stone, basement vibe will be ideal in the deep of winter or heat of summer. They also appear to be within a hairs breadth of opening an outdoor patio area so if the weather is nice and you want some sun, they’ve got you covered.

A cool new spot to check our for those in the Lou. This little basement bar(housed in the same location as greats like PW Pizza and Vin de Set) offers some of STL’s best brews in addition to a variety of other midwestern and international selections. The low key atmosphere and present, but not persistent service make this a great place to catch up with friends over a drink. I came here with two girlfriends and we ordered a pizza from PW Pizza next door to split in addition to our drinks… it made for a great after work/class evening! If you’re looking for a place comparative to ITap(with a few less drink options) and delicious pizza, 21st Street Brewer’s Bar would be my pick!

This review applies to both PW Pizza and 21st Street Brewer’s Bar, as I believe they partner up when one or the other gets too full. I went to PW Pizza with a couple girlfriends and we had a great time. This location is convenient as it’s close to highways and easily accessible. However, their parking lot is undersized so when it gets busy, the lot fills up quickly. And the spaces are small. Once you get inside, the atmosphere is warm and home-y, an inviting bar and spacious seating. For this visit, we ended up being offered seats downstairs at 21st Street Brewer’s Bar. They had plenty of space but the place didn’t feel empty either. The bar is very spacious and the tabletops are pieces of wood from tree trunks, which adds to the rustic feel. Goes excellently with the black leather perimeter seating and the exposed light bulbs that artfully light the place. Our service was prompt and professional. The waitress didn’t badger us too much and didn’t leave us completely unattended either. We ordered a couple pizzas and a calzone, which come from PW Pizza. The 12″ pizzas are big enough to feed two comfortably. The buffalo chicken comes with ranch on top, which was a pleasant surprise. For some reason, I pictured it on the side. The crust was amazing — not too crispy or dry, with plenty of seasoning and garlic. We ordered a bottle of pinot noir, which was fine. Nothing amazing, but that’s not too unexpected as their menu consists mostly of beers and some cocktails. This place reminds me a lot of Basso in their atmosphere, except with the addition of a couple TV’s. Would definitely like to come here again to sit and have a couple drinks and some good conversation.

Me and a friend tried this place for the first time a week ago and definitely will be going back. There is a good feel to this place that is situated in the basement of a building that houses two additional restaurants and banquet space. The beer selection is good and mostly craft beer but you can get a few mass domestic beers if craft is not your thing. The service here was good overall but when the crowds picked up the staff seemed a little disorganized. There are a few TVs in the place but this is not a sports bar, but more of a pub meets lounge atmosphere. The music appears to be run by the bar(either a music service or someone’s iPod) and was a good mix of rock/alternative for the most part. The crowd was a good mix of 20’s through 40’s and dressed anywhere from casual to dressy although I would say this is mostly a casual place. I recommend this place and will definitely be going back myself.

+ Craft beers galore on tap + Cozy. Loungy. Chill. Leather couches. + Pool tables, shuffleboard, darts + Order food from PW pizza I love this bar. I can come here and have a good craft beer or 4 and catch the game on the big screens and scarf down a scrumptious pizza all while never having to leave my bar seat. This place is a gem. It’s never super crowded. Even on busier nights there is just a comfortable number of people. It’s not divey. It’s not sweaty, it’s not hot, it’s just cozy and unpretentious. The décor is warm but minimal and tasteful with fun posters on the walls. It reminds me of a chill guy’s man cave. The leather sofas are soooo comfy. It’s not loud here — you can actually hold a conversation in a normal voice anywhere in the bar. You can order food from PW pizza upstairs and your drinks and food can come all on the same bill. They do a good job of splitting bills and keeping track of who in your party drinks what. The bartenders are attentive and friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. This bar definitely tops my list of favorite places to hang out!

The bartenders are super friendly here! Always verifying our glasses are full. They have an amazing list of beer on tap, bottles, and cans. There’s also soda and other non-alcoholic drinks. The place is clean, lots of bar seats, and sofas! Plenty of TVs. You can also order anything off the PW menu!

I had no idea this bar even existed until a teacher suggest we go there on our last day of class(seriously). We showed up when they opened at 4, and I was impressed by the atmosphere. It felt like we were in a speakeasy. It is in a basement with dim lights and modern design in an old, exposed brick structure. We sat on leather couches and enjoyed the huge selection of beer and ordered a PW pizza. We were even more ecstatic when they brought us our awesome pizza. The waiter/bartender informed us that the crust was«too dark» and brought us another pizza free!(The original pizza was great). Really enjoyed this place and am planning another visit.

21st Street Brewer’s Bar has quickly become my new go to place in the city. Located in the basement of building shared with Vin de Set, PW Pizza, and Moulin, 21st Street Brewers Bar adds another great venue to an already amazing building. With a large selection of local brews and an atmosphere that will make you feel like you have taken a step back in time to a Prohibition Speakeasy, this is possibly the best way to start off the night or wrap it up. The atmosphere here is casual, yet upscale with a your choice of sitting at the bar or in one of the more relaxed sofa areas. Background music is smooth and casual allowing for more natural casual conversation, however several TVs uniquely placed will ensure you will not miss a second of the game. On the other side of the bar is a huge room with two pool tables, dart boards, foosball table and some shuffleboard tables. There are also several other seating areas along with a TV. Games are free, so no need to worry about having enough quarters to get the next game. A limited food menu is available from PW Pizza, so if you get hungry you can order a light bite or if you are so inclined you can even order a pizza from upstairs. As far as the beers go, there is a large variety of local beers available on tap, however there is also a large selection of bottled beer. Prices are reasonable, allowing you to sample a variety of local beers without breaking the bank. Be advised you will not find any of the major beer brands here, this is a brewers bar focusing on quality beer by craft brewers. Overall this was another great venue and a welcome addition to the city, hopefully you will enjoy 21st Street Brewer’s Bar as much as I have.

This new bar is an awesome addition! Seriously, it’s one of my new favorite places to grab a beer. It’s location is killer. It’s downtown and has tons of parking. It’s popular but I haven’t see it packed quite yet so you don’t have to worry about finding a spot. They have the largest beer variety(on tap and off) I’ve seen in quite some time. It literally has every local beer and tons of others. You can order them in 6 ounces(under 3 $) or 16 ounces. A huge difference in size but this makes it so you can try more brews! 21st has the cheapest beer prices I’ve seen. I’m pretty sure they are the same price, if not cheaper, than buying it from the breweries themselves on tap. Most of the 16 ounce beers on tap are under $ 5. That’s a steal for such a cool bar! e While it’s not really a food place, you can order food from PW pizza and have it brought to you in 21st Amendment(same building as PW). Which automatically makes 21st amendment have awesome beer. I love that it’s downstairs. It makes it feel like a prohibition bar… especially with all the rustic decorations and awesome handmade tables. For seating/hanging out hey have plenty of bar-tops and even couches! Not to mention a huge rap around bar. They have a couple of TVs to play whatever sports game is on but not so much that it feels like a sports bar. This is, hands-down, a 5 star bar. Hardy har har. I’m done with the rhyming.

I’ve been looking forward to the opening of the 21st Amendment ever since it was first announced and it didn’t disappoint. It’s in the basement of the old Schnaider Brewing building, which also has Vin de Set and PW Pizza, all are owned by the same«mom and pop» operation — very local, which is always a plus. The big draw here is representation of all the local breweries. They have«rotating guest taps» which(I think) means they are letting the breweries decide what they want to show off. This makes it a perfect place to get a variety of local craft beers. So cool. They have about 50 taps going, so there is something for everyone(Busch Lager, anyone?). Also on the menu are some bar snacks, along with the entire PW Pizza menu. The seating here is nothing like a restaurant — lots of sofas and comfy chairs with coffee tables. This is perfect for the purpose. The walls are original stone on a couple of sides, with other walls featuring some awesome(at least for a breweriana lover) labels of beer brands of the past, including Schnaider’s, once brewed here. Those stone walls can make things a little loud, and with the sofa seating, it was sometime hard to hear my friends across the coffee table. That’s about the only complaint I can muster for this place. Service was attentive and friendly. Just about a perfect beer-tasting experience.

If beer is your thing this is your place. Over 100 beers available and some will change on a regular basis while others stay put. They serve PW Pizza’s menu until they close then have a «brew snacks and brew sweets» menu. Don’t want to commit to 12−16oz of a new beer, try a 6oz sample! Great idea.
