I know this truck has closed, but I’m belatedly posting a review here because I loved the concept so much. In fact, I have to chuckle at how many folks complained about the size of the portions. There was actually a reason for that: to limit the calories in the bigger options to 400, and the calories in the smaller treats to 200. Nutritional information was clearly posted for each menu item, and prices here were generally lower than at other food trucks, reflecting the small portions. The owner herself was super sweet, and at one point on her blog, she tried to put her money where her mouth was: by trying to lose weight all while eating her own food. Imagine that: *losing* weight by eating out at a food truck all the time! Indeed, she did lose a couple of pounds over just 4 – 5 weeks. While the portions and flavors here weren’t as mind-blowing as at other food trucks, I commend the owner for trying to get people to think hard about portion control, nutrition, and, in general, what they eat.

ahh my suspicions were right. not only are they the folks that bring the Midday Picnic truck. it has BECOME the Midday Picnic truck. I guess Local Comfort has evolved and is no longer in this form…

I really liked that they kept the calorie counts down in all their foods. And they were tasty, too. Unfortunately I guess those who liked it were in the minority, as she’s now changed to «Midday Picnic» and is all about bread bomb sliders :(

Great concept /great lunch /creative menu. I had the Buffalo Chicken Salad Sandwich, Tomato Soup, and Broccoli & Cheese side dish — a very tasty lunch at a low price. I will definitely try it again next time LCC visits my office. The staff is very friendly too.

I first heard of this place when they came by my work with their business cards and a menu. The Food: This is a Healthy option to eating. As you many of you may know, I’m a big eater. I like large portions for a good price. Although the food here tastes good, it is not worth the price. The Food truck: The truck looked clean and they were all set up with an iPad to take order. They can email, text or print you a receipt The Staff: The worker was nice and even gave us a sample of their cheese that goes on their mac and cheese(tasty). The Price: This is what I disliked the most. For a buffalo chicken sandwich it cost $ 5. I would understand if it was a sub, but it was made with two thin pieces of sliced loaf bread. The grilled cheese was not too cheesy but it did come with tomato soup, also $ 5. They offered different drinks and we got one tea which was $ 2.50. Am I going back: Only if I am REALLYREALLY craving a buffalo chicken sammich. I know this is a low calorie option but the only reason IMHO is because the portions are small. They get three stars for having a nice staff.

Just grabbed the classic grilled cheese & tomato soup combo. Great taste and mighty satisfying. And on recommendation from the owner, had the chocolate mousse for dessert. lo-cal? vegan? no way! That was too delectable to be healthy :-) Seems they’ll be at their current location @ El Camino and Sunnyvale-Saratoga(M-F from 5−9pm) for the remainder of the month, and into March. You should give it a try!

Went to their soft opening on Saturday in Sunnyvale and the food was awesome. Their vision is to serve delicious low calorie foods so their entrees are under 400 calories and side dishes are under 200 calories. Jenn, the owner, let everyone sample most of the dishes she was serving on the truck. One of the highlights of the day was the Turkey and Kale soup which was a great blend of spices and perfect to taste. The next item was a tomato and basil soup with a unique texture and taste to it. It’s a must try. And my favorite was their vegan chocolate mousse. Yes, vegan. And it taste’s as if I didn’t even know it was vegan. Make sure to go to their website to see where they will be next. Pros: Healthy, decently priced. Good portions. Definintely a must try if you love trucks.
