Traveling from Washington to Oakland stop by this place via a recommendation of a hotel employee. Great atmosphere, and all the employees are nice. I ordered the copper salmon with quinoa salad and tomatoes, fish was grilled to perfection with just enough spices not to loose the flavor. I’m glad to eat at this place while watching quarter final soccer match between Germany and Poland.

Nice first date spot. I really like their vegetarian panini sandwich and bacon wrapped dates. Not a good place to watch sports games unless you like not being able to hear the game.

I hate Unilocal, people will piss and moan about anything and not actually rate the food/service. This place has some of the best food in Portland, there is nothing close to the quality in the area. The beer selection has something for everyone and I don’t think the wine list will disappoint. One of the best ways to determine if a place is good, drive by the place during dinner time… this place is always packed!

So good! The service was fast and friendly! They gave me a sample of a cider I wanted to try but I ordered the Lion Lemonade which is so delicious! The NW Pub Burger was the best burger I’ve ever had. It’s a nice/hip environment with music and the waitresses all wear short black skirts if you’re into that. ;)

This is a very nice Thirsty Lion Pub location to eat indoors and outdoor patio. Very nice patio seating for when the weather is nice. There isn’t really anything on the menu that is spectacular to me, but they do have a lot of variety of foods and is nicely presentable. Whether you’re in the mood for salad, mac & cheese, steak, burgers, sandwich, tacos, pastas, etc. They have great happy hour and lots of appetizers. This place does get packed, even on the weekdays, so expect a line. You can call in to be put on a waiting list. Great place to hang out.

Food food, beer and service. I came here with a small group because it was near the hotel, features local beers and had outdoor seating. There is also plenty of indoor seating in case the weather is not so great. Inside I noticed a full bar and TV sets. We arrived a 6 pm and were lucky to get one of the open outside tables. The selection of beers wines and small plates was perfect for this group. We tried the spicy meatballs, calamari and adenoma dishes. The calamari was ok but the adenoma and meatballs were awesome. Several more beers later we ordered dinner. I had the grilled salmon special. It was maybe a hair sweet but otherwise a fabulous dish. Service was spectacular. We rarely had to wait and food was brought out quickly and hot. I would definitely come back here again.

Second trip this week. The burgers are just really really good. The NW Pub Burger and the White Cheddar BBQ burgers are the two that I’ve had. I wouldn’t hesitate to order either one in a heartbeat. AND — they use a good quality meat so you can order the burger as it should be: RARE!!!

Unspectacular. A compete anticlimax after many people told me it was an «authentic» English bar. If by authentic you mean a garish bar with tweenie music and the bloody NFL on the TV, with unremarkable food and unremarkable service, yes, it’s spot on. I was so disappointed. Girls, the short skirts look tacky. If I wanted to have a jock night out this would be ideal. It’s maybe a half a step up from Applebee’s or Chilis with a dreadful, pretentious ‘chain’ feel about it. I had a Cobb salad that tasted of nothing, like it had just come out of the fridge. Guys, I think it has to have more than one crumble of blue cheese to be a Cobb salad. This should be called ‘rather tasteless lettuce with a couple of tomatoes and a piece or two of avocado and a unsavory looking rasher of bacon on top’. My search for the real British pub is thwarted again. Only the Moon & Sixpence comes close, and they open at 3, even on the weekends. Customers be damned! Now that’s English service… Hey, they have Boddies on draft, so it wasn’t a complete waste of a trip. Mind you, eight ounces of beer and three inches of foam does NOT make it a pint, chaps.

Ha ha haha. Ok– I’m more English than this place ONLY because I’m sitting next to a very disappointed English person. Thirsty lion, take note– you are as English as a chain like Rock bottom. You don’t even serve proper pints! The Boddingtons you served my husband would be illegal in England. What in the actual FUCK(credit Karen M) is it about the short skirts thing? Owners, please respect the girls that work for you instead of making them wear that crap. Unless it’s Benny Hill you’re actually going for? Quote on the bar is from Benjamin Franklin who, if I remember correctly wasn’t super excited about staying English. Food is ok– people are nice. I bet these poor girls get all kinds of crap. Never coming back. You guys are as English as my Volvo which is to say not English at all. Time for a rethink ffs.

It’s all hype, unless you like a noisy, dim-lit, bars for all ages that include waitresses wearing form fitting black outfits with short-short skirts, and a lot of on-tap beer choices. If that’s what you like then this is your place. My husband and I discovered Thirsty Lion when they first opened up at Washington Square. We would make reservations so we wouldn’t have to wait(I highly suggest this), and go during happy hour for the discount menu. We ate here fairly often in 2012, I was pregnant and craved the Scotch Eggs which are delicious. Unfortunately over the past few years the food itself has become less and less desirable, with cooking errors or bad service(we’ve had both). We no longer go here. The prices are high, it’s too loud for conversation, it’s dimly lit so you cannot visually enjoy your meal. The quality of food has diminished over the years. The Thirsty Lion no longer appeals to us or our taste-buds.

I didn’t get a pic, but the arugala, beet salad was so awesome, I inhaled it before I could pull my phone out. This place is already great with a crazy array of beers and the service is fantastic. Never have had to wait on a server, the bill, or a drink. Oh, and the BlackBerry cobbler is fantastic. It pairs well with an IPA.

Had dinner last night and this was my second time in… this trip much better. Good selection of dinners and apps and we had an enjoyable evening. Had to wait 30 mins for a table on a Tuesday night but that’s good if business is great like that. I loved the beer cheddar soup and the scotch eggs were the bomb !!!##

Thirsty Lion has been described to me from others as «eh, it’s okay but nothing special» but I had to experience it for myself. Dined at the WSQ location earlier this evening with some friends. We arrived at 6:15 and was told the wait was an hour. I figured if we go else where the wait time would be the same or longer so we stayed. The place was packed but couldn’t figure out why. Exactly 1 hour later, our table was ready. Since we were starving, we ordered chicken fingers to start with. In addition, my husband ordered a bowl of the tortilla soup. While reviewing the menu, I noticed there were a lot of options to choose from but it was missing some photos. The photos would of been helpful in making my decision. I was debating on a few dishes and ended up ordering the Baja fish tacos. The chicken fingers came out tasty, hot and fresh. The tortilla soup wasn’t all that great(I’ve had better). After a few spoonfuls, I gave it back to my husband. Shortly after finishing the chicken fingers, our food came out except my friends dish was brought to another table. The waitress came by and apologized for the mistake. She also said a new order is on its way and the entrée is on the house. My Baja fish tacos was messy, too saucy and just okay. Every time I took a bite and to put it down the sauce would soak in even more. I should of went with something else — I guess there always next time. I’ve had better fish tacos in Maui. During dinner, 3 of us was eating while my friend was waiting for hers. We all felt bad as she was waiting so we all took turns offering her food. Towards the end of my dinner, my friends dish arrived at last. Overall, we had a good experience despite my not so good dish and the mix-up of our friend’s plate. Our waitress was very accommodating to the inconvenience. I plan on returning but not for the Baja fish tacos and tortilla soup. If you plan on dining for dinner on a weekend, I highly suggest reservations otherwise you may wait an hour like us.

Got their fish and chips which was p decent. Someone at my table ordered a round of purple kamikaze shots which were also p good. Overall, I would say it’s p good but not like mind blowing. A good atmosphere overall though, would probably return solely due to their dope name.

The kind of place I secretly loathe, but the beer and food are good. Prices are higher than reasonable, in my opinion. Every time I come in here I question my life choices. This place is everything I swore I wouldn’t become. All of the dress shirt and khaki wearing clientele, the fake atmosphere achieved by extremely dim lighting, the attempt at eye-candy waitresses… it’s just hard to admit that this where I’ve ended up for dinner and/or drinks. The food and beer are good, so if my friends must go I will tag along.

I enjoyed it. The food was fine. Kind of generic, but tasty. Friendly staff, and I really enjoyed being on the patio on a nice day! Would come again.

If you like Red Robin food you will really like The Thirsty Lion. The Thirsty Lion is like a step up from Red Robin with more food options such as seafood and steak. The wait staff is young and the skirts are super short. There is indoor seating and a nice large outdoor patio seating area as well. This place seems to draw in the business professional from all the businesses around it, not so much families and at peak times is packed. In the summer months the patio is very popular because they serve their wonderful Happy Hour menu out there. There is a nice bar that is the center of the indoor piece of the restaurant and they usually have at least 40+ beers on tab as well as wine and mixed drinks. Some good craft cocktails as well. My favorite menu items are the salads… The steak salad specifically. Yum! I got to say the place runs like a machine. They have adequate staff and make it happen. I have been here for many business meetings and no matter if your group is 2 or 20 the orders arrive promptly. Pretty amazing! 2015-131
