Ordered deliverary for the first time today and I thought the food was ok. Steamed vegetable dumpling was ok, not great. I have to admit, there was a distinct smell and taste to it that made me like the dumpling less. Their spring roll is actually more like a deep friend egg roll. This was a lot better tasting than the veggie dumpling. May order from here again but it surely wasn’t the best Chinese food I’ve order.

$ 60+ of food, driver 40+ minutes later than quoted. (original ticket 18:31:xx, food arrived 1hour 20 mins later at 7:50) Was the food cold? [logical conclusion here] Guessing it was a passenger for a lot of that 40+ minutes, even though we’re 0.7 miles away. If you’re busy, that’s good, so tell someone! I’ll drive over there to pick it up myself so that its hot, fresh and as intended. If the driver actually gave me a receipt, I would ask for a refund… tipped him well too. I want to say the food is great, we think it may be, but it’s our first time here and we weren’t able to tell, due to a less than avg overall experience. We may try again. –S

My quality expectations are already pretty low for Chinese food but after my order last Fri im still trying to figure out what kind of meat i was eating. I have ordered 4 times from Home Taste and each time the quality has gotten progressively worse. The other night I ordered scallion pancakes and general gao chicken. The pancakes are always crispy and tasty(it’s a different style you’ll either like/hate them) However the chicken was borderline inedible. I opened up the container and the food was warm, check. 1⁄8 of the chicken looked fresh, probably battered, fried, and coated that day since it was vibrant. But the rest of the chicken looked decrepit, dull, and dried out. As if you forgot about the chicken on the floor by the refrigerator and threw it in last minute to complete a whole order; that would describe the look, consistency, and taste. I dont think ive ever experienced general gao’s chicken that had actual pieces of bone in them before? But i certainly haven’t experienced general gao chicken with actual pieces of carcass bone in them haha. The first bite i took was a bonus surprise carcass that was battered and fried. Don’t worry i found the other pieces of the carcass in there too; maybe there was more than 1 carcass. rummaging around i tried to find some edible pieces but was unsuccessful. I found nothing other than gamy, bony«meat». If i wasn’t breaking my teeth on the carcass of the chicken i was pulling out joints and tendons from my teeth. I dont mind so much the ligaments in the meat but when it’s 90% tendon and 10% meat, i’m a little off put. As i said before i have pretty low standards to begin with, but that«food» was not food. I ate about 4 pieces, of what i hope was chicken, and then threw the rest out. Needless to say i got sick and returned the other 4 pieces of chicken back to his buddies via vomit. Surprise Surprise. Will not order again. Would rather have just thrown the $ 20 in the trash instead.

What a great addition to Watertown. I have eaten in and had delivery, both were great. Seating is limited. I can highly recommend: Shrimp Mala Pot(spicy, and the heat increases as the sauce soaks into the delicious rice noodles); Xinjiang Spicy Noodles with Sliced Lamb; Noodles Mixed w. Chopped Beef(with hand pulled noodles); and Scallion Pancake.

When all of a sudden my favorite local Chinese food place was suddenly replaced by Home Taste I was skeptical by how good its replacement might be. I just tried it for the first time and I am pleasantly surprised! The hand pulled noodles shrimp lo mein is a little heavy but tasty and not overwhelming in any way. The pork dumplings are HUGE and a bit heavy, so just two is enough to satisfy. The fried tofu with vegetables is light and also tasty. All ingredients seemed fresh and nothing was over cooked. I’m glad to know that when I have a Szechuan food craving I can happily satisfy it here.

My wife and I spent one day in MA area. We decided to give a try here and did not regret at all. We ordered Noodle Mixed with Chopped Beef, Chongqing Small Noodles, Cumin Lamb and Pork Burger, and Mala Pots. Wow, I would say this is the Best Authentic Chinese food I ever had in the US. Highly recommend the Pork Burger and various styles of Noodles. Before coming here, my always-favorite Chinese burger was from Chinger in New York. OMG, Home Taste Chinese Burger is EVENBETTER! I will definitely come back to try other dishes next time I visit MA.

Bad… Just cannot believe someone cooks like that opened up a restaurant. Got a few dishes from lunch menu — egg rolls are really bad. Dishes were all pretty bad. Serve hot tea on Styrofoam cups Not worthy

Home Taste is a takeout/delivery Chinese joint. When we called, they were helpful and easy to understand while being professional. The driver showed up faster than expected and presented VERY hot food. Like most resturants don’t serve food this hot. It was great. The large portions of the general’s chicken came with its own small pint container of rice. We will be giving them a call back when we need something hot, quick, and good.

Super yummy Chinese food, a big improvement over the previous Wonder Café. Try the Beef Noodle Soup and the homemade pork dumplings. Delivery is quick and courteous.

So good! I am literally eating the food as I type this right now. We ordered delivery and even though the estimated time was 45 minutes, it came in about 35 minutes(at prime time on a Saturday night!). The general tso’s chicken is great. Perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, sauce isn’t too salty or too sweet. The egg drop soup is good too. I’ve had better egg drop soup in my life, but this one is perfectly delicious and hits the spot! Definitely ordering from here again!

I’ve had many a «feh» or even«gahhhhhh» experience ordering from local Chinese restaurants but what got me over that«feh”/“gahhhhhh» reaction was the enticement of hand-pulled noodles(HPN). I love HPN. I look forward to it any time I’m in NYC. So I ordered the chicken«Home-Styled Lo Mein with HPN.» It was heavily oiled and as such greasy, and as a heads up lacked any vegetables beyond bean sprouts. Flavorless, oily, and clompy. I did also order the crab rangoon, which were tasty. Delivery was extremely prompt, but I will not be ordering from here again.

Update: the owner, Ying, messaged me directly to thank me for my feedback but also to tell me that the combos labeled as «lunch combos» are actually available all day! It was just an error whine the menus were printed, and it apparently will be fixed on their new menus. Ordered here again(2nd time in about a week) and tried the home style lo mien with chicken, so delicious! And seriously, I still can’t say enough about the homemade pan fried pork dumplings. Mmmmm! Five stars. Yum! Was initially disappointed when I saw the Chinese place that used to be there was gone, but then saw it was replaced by a new Chinese place. Tried out for the first time last night, and it was a delicious. The pan fried pork dumplings are not to be missed, so good! Everything we ordered was great, their food is really fresh. My one complaint of this place is that they don’t offer any dinner combos that you find everywhere else(ie. Chicken dish + pork fried rice + appetizer). All the dinner entrees come with only white rice(and they wouldn’t let me sub that with pork fried rice instead, which I thought was silly). So for that I give them 4 stars. But I’ll definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I wanted a lazy Sunday, so we decided to order delivery to our apartment in Brighton. I’m so glad we decided to mix it up and picked this place — what a gem! We ordered the orange chicken entrée, which was tasty. Most take-out places have chicken that’s dry, stringy, or over-breaded, but not this one. We also got an extra carton of white rice for $ 0.99(all entrée’s come with one to start), so we had plenty for leftovers. The crab rangoon are on the smaller side, but an order comes with 8, so I didn’t mind at all. I also liked the filling out of all the places we’ve tried thusfar. Very flavorful. And I agree that the pork dumplings(recommended here and on Foodler) are not to be missed. We’ll be ordering again for sure!

I really liked this place, since our favorite regular Chinese Food place was closed, we looked on Unilocal and saw that they had pretty good reviews. We had a pretty large order. A pup up latter wasn’t available so we did crab ragoons(awesome), boneless spareribs(awesome), steamed dumplings(awesome), house rice(meh), pork fried rice(awesome), beef and broccoli(good), and sesame chicken(good). I think overall the place is great, not as good as our regular restaurant, but we also may be partial to them. I would recommend them for a first time, and make the determination for yourself. I’d go back on any given Sunday to try other things as well!

Just ordered from here and I have to say, it’s really good! Let me start with saying I’m a person with no Chinese influence at all in my life so all I know about the cuisine is what I’ve read and heard so I can’t review on authentic flavor. So, I’ll review for my own personal flavor! The chicken was cooked very well, not tough at all. The pork pan-fried dumplings were super tasty! The filling with flavorful and the dough(outside) was really nice! We also ordered the noodles with pork and fried bean which I was a bit nervous to try at first but will probably get it again! I think this may become our go to Chinese food place! Plus, white rice for 99 cents? Call me sold.

I am from Sichuan province, China. My hometown is famous for spicy cuisine so I had high expectations of this place. However, I have to say based on what I ordered today, it was kinda disappointing. Beef Mala pot: for $ 21.98, the portion was not really satisfying. The quality of beef was really not that good. I hardly could tell that it was beef, and it was also kinda hard to chew, not flavorful enough. On the menu, it promised that there would be potato, shiitake, woodear included, but I didn’t see any of these. The flavor was good. Not really spicy enough for me, but I bet it is spicy enough for most Americans. Cold skin noodles: a big disappointment. Not enough paste so there is not enough flavor. All I could taste was dry, sesame paste. I think there should also be some chilly oil added in there. Delivery was fast. service attitude was good. For a newly opened restaurant, overall it was ok. It could have been better though. I might try some other dishes. Hopefully they won’t disappoint.

Read about this place on Eater Boston. We are big fans of Gene’s Flatbread Café in Woburn, so I was very eager to try another place with hand-pulled noodles. We stopped in for lunch today(a Saturday) and we were very pleased. The menu is a mix of typical Chinese restaurant items and the house-made specialities, so there’s a lot to choose from. I also liked that you could choose between thin and hand-pulled noodles, even though my thing is the hand-pulled ones. I had the noodles with minced pork in spicy bean sauce, while my wife and daughter both had the hand-pulled noodles with spicy hot oil(which is what we always get at Gene’s). We also got an order of the home-made pan fried pork dumplings and vegetable spring rolls, both of which were excellent. Service was a bit disjointed, but mainly because everything came to the table fresh as it was ready. It’s a very small place with only 5 – 6 tables anyway, so you might not be able to sit to eat and have to do take-out, in which case the service would be moot. I think we still like Gene’s noodles just a little bit better, but only a little. We will definitely be back when we’re looking for awesome noodles.

This place is good! I’ve been a longtime Wonder Café customer and was surprised to suddenly see Home Taste in its place just a few days ago. I decided to give it a try and am glad I did. The customer service was great and the food was ready for pickup quickly, less than 15 minutes. Very friendly service when I went in, and they take either cash or card. I ordered a little conservatively, food-wise, since this place didn’t have a lot of reviews and I was a bit wary. I got the vegetarian dumplings and the home style lo mein with chicken. The main draw for me was the advertisement of homemade dumplings & hand-pulled noodles and they did NOT disappoint. The dough in each was soo soft and delicious. The vegetable paste stuff inside the dumplings was pretty good, but I’d probably try the pork dumplings next time to see if they had a little more pizzazz. The home style chicken lo mein was tasty — full disclosure: I’ve only ever had what I will assume is American-style lo mein and this was definitely really different(this is a good thing). Pretty mildly flavored, the chicken pieces weren’t suspect, and the noodles were seriously great. They are so soft and good that I kind of wouldn’t care what seasoning was on them, to be honest, so long as it served as a vehicle to get them from the plate into my mouth. I’d definitely like to try another noodle dish that might be a little more boldly seasoned, as this was very simple; but based on the menu there seem to be quite a few options to try. Also, did I mention the portions are huge? I kept filling up plates of lo mein and my takeout box was still full to the brim. I’m pretty psyched for this new food option in Watertown Square!

It’s just like its name, Home Taste! We ordered a lot of stuff and everything is so good! Mala pot there is spicy and my favorite. Noodles there are just like the taste from China. If you want to try some really great Chinese food, you can’t miss it! Besides, the location is convenient and easy to find a parking spot.
