So I was on a quest to look for Oaxacan mole negro. Someone suggested that this place might have it. Unfortunately, it turned out that the person who suggested it hadn’t been to the place in a long, long time. When we inquired about mole, the man behind the counter said that they don’t make mole, although it was previously an Oaxacan restaurant before they took it over – 4YEARSAGO. That’s how long ago my buddy had been here. Since we were here, we decided to try out the specials that they were featuring. I had the chiles rellenos, while my husband tried their shrimp dish. Both were very, very good, and the price was outrageously low. A great deal on the dishes, and they were quite tasty. They have handmade tortillas, and everything tastes like it was made fresh that day. The majority of the customers are Spanish speakers, although the person behind the counter does speak English fairly well. I would definitely come again. The only issue I have with the place is the parking. There’s no parking lot, so you’re stuck with street parking, which is OK for dinner since the meters are off, but lunch could be a problem… unless you sneak a spot from El Pollero’s parking lot next door. I’m not sure what they’d think about that. All in all, good service, good food, good prices. What more can you ask for?(Well, Oaxacan mole negro… the search continues!)
