Eclectic Hair Salon

I went to the salon today with my sister and step mom for a ladies day, her treat. We started at one and ended at three thirty, which was amazing for the amount of stuff we did (hair treatment, hair cuts, styling, and pedicures)! The stylist, Macaela (as I remember it), and the woman who did our nails, Whitney, we’re both very nice. I wanted to style my hair differently without cutting all my hair off and she gave me several ideas (as well as an iPad to look up what I wanted on Pinterest) and did very good at replicating the image that I wanted. If I were from Lafayette (we’re traveling through) I would definitely make this a regular.

I asked for a simple foil and cut, a thing I’ve had done at many different salons, usually takes 2 hours or less and cost about $ 100. Here it took over 3 hours and cost almost $ 140! Three weeks later and I look like I got nothing done! I told the girl I wanted it to be bright and to pop, and it was darker than when I walked in! I regret not asking for my money back!!!

When calling to make an appointment the women answering the phone was really rude and impatient. She came off as if I was wasting her time. It did not leave me wanting to go there to have my hair cut by someone who didn’t want to take the time to listen over the phone when making an appointment. I was quite disappointed after hearing great things about the salon from friends.

At a second thought, I’ve decided to revise my comment. Although what happened the other day was unpleasant experience, people sometimes do have their own issues which could make them emotional. As a new customer who has never met her, there was no reason that she would do this personal. Now I take back my comment about the discriminating. And I have to say, her cutting skill was good though.

I had Shawna. I wouldn’t have paid for the overpriced haircut if I knew she was just going to cut the hair from x length to y. Even though I clearly stated that I wanted hair my layered and lightweight, all they did was basically shorten the length. My hair looks straight and chunky at the end, like a catholic school girl haircut. I guess I will go to another Salon to layer my hair. Would not go back.

I had a GREAT gel manicure with Erin last week and my nails still look great with no chips. After a full week. That’s unheard of for me even with gel. This manicure has even survived gardening. I totally recommend Erin for nails.

While searching west Lafayette for a salon I came across Eclectic Hair Salon. I was hesitant at first (I’ve had bad experiences with other salons) but after speaking with the well informed and helpful staff members (yes, I said members. I interviewed everyone) I was confident that this was the place for me. I made a walk in appointment with Shawna, who has a wonderful personality and wide skill set as a stylist. She helped me decide what style and length would be best to flatter my face and lifestyle. While in Shawna’s chair I trusted her with my hair completely. I ended up getting about 13 inches cut off and I don’t regret it at all. She gave me exactly what I wanted and more. I recommend people check this place out. I live an hour and half away and I will be coming back in the future for any hair related needs.

Man, where to even start. I’ve been going here for 3 years and it was always ok although they have a really high turn over rate so don’t plan on being able to stick with one stylist! I always just had trims done so it’s hard to mess that up but Monday I went in for a pixie cut and highlights and had an abominable experience. I brought in a 360 degree picture of the exact cut I wanted and the stylist only glanced at it and then cut a completely different style in my hair. I cut off 20 inches so this was a huge deal to me. I was able to step by step tell her how to fix it to make it a bit better but I still have pieces that she did not cut and sections that are way longer than the rest. As for the «natural, thin, subtle blonde highlights» I wanted? She just bleached my entire head to an orangey yellow and I looked like 90’s era Eminem. She toned it which fixed the color slightly although it’s still much, much lighter than I wanted and I was still charged for the toner. It all cost around $ 100 :(The stylists are all very nice but seemingly not very knowledgeable or experienced. I will be getting my cut fixed elsewhere and praying this color grows out quickly!

I had a wedding to attend in Lafayette in July. I called for a last minute Saturday Keratin treatment with relatively no notice. Curtis was able to sneak me in.
My Keratin treatment went awesome. My hair looks great, 2 weeks later. The price, plus a bottle of Redkin conditioner and a $ 20 tip (Curtis was that good), came out to $ 140 LESS than I had spent for just the treatment alone in Chicago last summer… And that treatment wasn’t nearly as good.
I will absolutely be making a trip back to Lafayette specifically for another treatment in another month or two. The $ 40 in gas is totally worth it.

I just moved to Lafayette and I heard that Eclectic was pretty awesome, and the owner had the same name as mine so I went for it. It is the best salon ever. I get my hair done by Shawna and she is seriously phenomenal at coloring hair. She’s pretty amazing at cutting it too. I’m really picky at who I let style my hair, and I trust her completely with it. Their prices are really competitive too, which is surprising given the amazing job that they do.

The first time I visited here, I went in about 30 minutes before closing time and I am aware of other hair saloons getting prepped to close shop, and generally do not like customers walking in so close to closing time. My stylist (Allbanee Flora), however, was very accommodating, didn’t rush and listened to my requests, did changes and made for a great experience overall. Most stylists just want to get done with their shifts usually, and although I blame myself for walking in so late, her patience and professionalism was much appreciated and well received.
The place is a nice, clean and looks peppy. I would love to visit here again.
PS: I generally never write reviews but the service I received here was worthy of one. This place comes highly recommended.

Was referred to this salon by a friend. I has Shawna cut my hair. She did a fantastic job. The price was great for the quality cut I got. The décor was great, the staff was so friendly and Shawna was super nice and listened to what I wanted to have done.

Shawna and her staff are first-​rate. My entire has been using Eclectic for almost two years. We’d never go anywhere else!

My grandson came to visit and his big starting middle school wish when he got here on Sunday night was a new haircut. I went online and scheduled for Monday. He found a picture online to show the style he wanted. He was thrilled with the cut and was shown how to use product to do it every morning. I was a very popular grandma! Thanks Eclectic!

After moving here from California, I had to rely on recommendations solely when selecting a new hair dresser. I am extremely particular, and it’s a week before my wedding. I tried a small shop elsewhere yesterday and I was completely butchered. Cheetah print to say the least! I scheduled based on review with Mr. Curtis Anthony of Eclectic. He is a «hair God!!» I love him and he is very knowledgable on color correction. The entire staff were very comforting and gave me my confidence back. Highly recommend this place!!!

My wife is really picky when it comes to choosing a salon but she was pleasantly surprised with the service and the staff at Eclectic. The online scheduling is about as good as it gets! No need to remember to call during business hours to get your appointment, couldn’t be easier.

Eclectic Hair Salon is a real class act but down to earth and authentic. I took my 9 year old daughter to get a hair cut and they made her feel like a movie star. :)

DO NOT GO HERE if you have a function to go to and are thinking about an updo/​formal hairstyle. We were from out of town, I saw the reviews and decided to give this place a shot. I came in with 3 others to get our hair styled for a wedding. The stylists were rude and obnoxious when we were asking what we wanted to get done.
In the end, our hair styles were sloppy and felt like it wouldn’t hold for the night (2 hours later my updo was falling apart). At the register, they ended up charging us an extra $ 20 EACH because it took them an hour and a half to finish everyone. It’s not my fault that they work slow.
Absolutely terrible experience. I wish I went somewhere else instead.

I also got my hair chopped straight-​on sideways :(
The person cutting my hair was really nice and I could tell she was doing her absolute best to add layers to make my hair look light,
but my hair is black, thick and weighty so the «snipping sideways cut» just looks really dull and boring on me.
She told me I can come back if I need it fixed so I might.
I really do like how the people are friendly, the prices are affordable and we can find out exactly how much a service is.

I go here regularly for a massage from Traci. She does a great job and my back always feels better after. I have a bad hip and she always remembers to ask to see if she needs to be gentle in that area. With the dimmed lights, relaxing music, and great massage, I usually fall asleep. Her studio is in the upstairs of an old building that she’s done a great job decorating. She has 2 massage rooms, a bathroom, and a waiting area. While on-​street parking can be a problem in this area, you can park in the parking garage next door. Her current price is %60 for 60-​minute massage.
