Excellent food! I’m having super hot soup for lunch right now. I only wish they serve it in a ceramic non reactive bowl instead of a plastic bowl.

So at first I thought I had my Persian Restaurant of Westwood Village selected, but boy was I wrong. It took a drunk tirade of my friend and coworker at a local happy hour to wake me up to the delicious edible magic of Attari Sandwich Shop. By far the BESTTONGUESANDWICHEVER! Seasoned well and moist AF. You have to try this sandwich– it is so delicious, it should be on the welcoming committee for strange meats. I have plenty of friends that have said that they wouldn’t ever try or like tongue, but when they unknowingly tried this sandwich they were hooked– They wanted their own and had to know where it was from. PROTIP: Order ahead for lunch. Line is always crazy. THISISTHEONLYPLACETOGETACTUALQUALITYPERSIANFOODINWESTWOODVILLAGE.

I woke up dreaming of the soup. THESOUP. So fresh, hearty and delicious. For my main, I had the eggplant(meant to be an appetizer), which was mixed with yogurt and topped with crispy onions. I loved every single bite.

Had a delicious meal here again tonight and thought it’s a good time for an update. I’ve seen so many reviews complaining about the fact that a sandwich and drink here is $ 11. Have any of these people been to chipotle in the last two years? Not only can you get norovirus there but it’s like $ 18 for a bowl and a bevvy. Do these Unilocalers even live in LA? Eleven dollars is not financial sandwich rape, especially since this is real food! I usually get sandwich(kotlet, tongue), ash and salads here but tonight I got khoobideh and was super impressed with the portion, flavor and price. It was $ 12ish for khoobideh no rice(I can never finish rice anyway) and was two nice big kabob with sangak, tomato, onion etc. The special was abgoosht and they didn’t have any — fail. The flavors are authentic, the service has always been fine for us and the atmosphere is exceedingly casual and easy(we have a five month old baby and she fits right in on the patio here). If you think the food is under seasoned, you are probably American, so ask for a salt shaker please and let them keep making it the way Persians like it.

Have been going here for years and just realized that I’ve never reviewed it. The ash here is bar none. It’s one of my favorite things to get to go or to eat there. The tadig is also delicious with the gaimeh stew, as is the koobideh, but honestly it’s worth going just for the soup. One of our favorite spots in Westwood.

People always ask me where is the best place to eat authentic Persian food? Well, the best place happens to be the first place that opened up a Persian restaurant in Westwood. Best koobideh in town. Best soup in town and the best and nicest friendliest owner. The place is a bit hidden for those who are not familiar with the area. Give this place a try; the prices are very fair too.

I was directed to Attari by two very hairy, Farsi speaking, Persian friends of mine. Upon entering said sandwich shop, I saw the room’s demographic was primarily Persian. Jackpot. I ordered the Beef Tongue Sandwich, arguably their most popular sandwich. Must say, I was impressed. The protein was tender and plentiful. The flavor was much gentler and subtler than the more dynamic seasoning of traditional Persian food. This makes it a good option if you want to be adventurous and try Persian food, but is afraid it’s going to taste too«exotic». Don’t be alarmed by the cut«beef tongue». It’s so delicious, and will taste just like very tender beef. The carb was a good quality French Bread. Not too flakey or dry. The pickles are nice and tangy, but chopped too thickly. The total came up to be just under $ 11, which is on the pricer side for a sandwich, especially one that’s not particularly filling. However, in it’s defense, the protein was abundant and on fleek. The day we went, it was raining a rain that SoCal rarely sees. I looked around and saw that most patrons ordered a bowl of chunky, green soup. When I asked my friends, they said it was Osh, a traditional lentil soup that’s perfect on cold days. Sold. A swirl of yogurt lightens up the soup, but it still had a very strong, aggressive flavor. Personally, it was way too salty to eat on its own. But it comes with some bread that sops up some of that flavor, and all is well again. It’s a cute sandwich shop that serves up Persian flavors in a less exotic way! It’s non-pretentious and casually maintains it’s authenticity. Sounds like a win!

Everything was 5 stars! — Beef tongue sandwich: I’m not big on tongue and other random parts that isn’t just plain beef but I honestly couldn’t tell the difference. It just tasted like super tender beef! — Chicken kabob sandwich: so bomb! I didn’t realize it was dark meat. I was expecting white meat but it was still so good! — Kashke bademjan: perfectly done and a nice side for the sandwiches — Ash-e joe; Not the best I’ve ever had but still pretty good Service was fine and the prices weren’t too out of control(for the sandwiches at least). Parking can be a B though but I’ll def be back soon to try the koobideh sandwich

Aah man, I was disappointed with my visit here. I had really been looking forward to it! This place has a nice large patio for outdoor dining. The inside is smallish with one big screen TV. Soccer was on. The man that took our order, who I believe is the owner. Was very polite and helpful, giving info on a couple of soups and salads. My girlfriend got the Osh soup and Shirazi salad, I decided on the dark meat chicken kabob plate with rice.(Wish I would have picked a sandwich) The food was just very bland. The best thing we got was the soup, which was pretty good. It comes with 2 pieces of bread. I have had better Shirazi salad. And for SURE have had better kabobs! I really love Persian food and was underwhelmed. Having said that, I would come back and try a sandwich. Have a feeling that may be their best offering.

The food here was fine. I probably should have ordered a sandwich. I got the shirazi salad(no onions) which was just chopped tomatoes and cucumber. The dressing seemed to be lemon juice, which was a bit underwhelming. I also got the soup with the 2 pieces of bread. It was average and could have used salt or garlic or something. Both dishes were a good size and filling. My boyfriend got the kebab plate and for all of that and 2 bottles of water was about $ 38 with $ 6 tip which seemed a bit pricey to me. Would definitely come back to to try a sandwich tho. Cute courtyard, street parking, inside is a bit cramped, but a lot of tables. Owner, staff, and service were great!

I have been going to attari for 25 years ever since was a cute little shack! The owner is a Iranian woman who works and care very much for the quality of her food. She is the cool! I eat at Atari at least once a week. I love their food!!! Is delicious! You don’t feel stuffy after eating. It is good quality authentic sandwich shop/restaurant which is nestled on Westwood in Persian square ! Parking is ok… But if you have to go call your order, they have curb side service! REALLY!!! Or eat at the charming patio. My favorites are: kookoo, ash, Kabab, lubia, salad shirazi, omg! The plain rice is soooo tasty even by it self! There are many Persian restaurant on Westwood, hands down is the best quality food, and the busiest . It is a hang out place!!!

I had heard so many glowing reviews of the beef tongue sandwich here. So many! And though I’ve become a more adventurous eater over the past few years, the sandwich was not to my liking at all. The tongue was as gamey as I was worried it’d be, and even aside from that the sandwich was just really bland and uninspired. Perhaps that’s just the tradition, but the bread was as flavorless as I’ve had, and the other ingredients on the sandwich didn’t do it any favors. On the other hand, I did absolutely love the ash. It was my first time having the dish, and it was spectacular.

I wasn’t impressed. Maybe it’s what I ordered, but I didn’t think it was the best sandwich, Persian or koobideh in LA… I had the tongue because it was what Jonathan Gold recommended and it wasn’t what I expected. It was a soft/mushy piece that really didn’t have much flavor. I also had the koobideh sandwich which was pretty good, but didn’t have enough koobideh. Next time I’ll try something else, but I’m in no rush to go back.

Attari is the place to go for Persian sandwiches or soup in Westwood. I have been here several times and enjoy their kotlet sandwich(Persian ground beef patty), salad olovie sandwich(Persian potato salad), and kabobs. You really can’t go wrong with most of their items. They serve complimentary bread and butter and most of their seating is in an outdoor courtyard/patio perfect for casual dining. They do also have some covered seating inside as well. Service is fast and friendly-you order at the counter and someone brings your food to your table. They offer some more specialty items too that I have not tried(like the brain and tongue sandwiches). Overall, this is a solid lunch or casual dinner spot that is even convenient for group dining. Parking is street parking along Westwood blvd with meters.

A friend suggested Attari Sandwich Shop, and at first we thought it looked a little too casual for dinner. The man at the counter was extremely friendly and helpful with our order and everyone in my group was happy with their choices. I had the white meat chicken kabob with rice, and I had enough for lunch the next day. The courtyard seating felt like we were in a different country. Lots of families and older folks chatting over coffee… a great spot.

With so many Persian food establishments in the Westwood area, I really don’t get the hype here. The kabob is very mediocre and the rices are very blehh. I had the Adas polo with raisins. Why? The place is also small and uncomfortable. Even standing in line you feel cramped. Also you need to chase people to find to clean up a table if you find one of few. What did I like though? Their Asheh Reshteh was pretty good and it came with a nice piece of bread. For this they get 3 stars and I could imagine coming back on a cold day to have it. Other than that go somewhere else where you will get service and sit comfortably and also have better food.

I came to West L.A. to visit friends and this place is walking distance near where they live so we decided to go here for lunch when they dine here often. They like to order the popular tongue sandwich and the vegetable lentil soup they recommended me to try. Persian food is usually pricey. I had a chicken kabob with rice, tomato and also the soup that had lentil and vegetables that I forgot the name of. Just show pictures of the soup or what you want to order that will help the cashier know what you want to order. The menu is both in Persian and English on the wall near the cashier. The food is really good here for a quick lunch then it can get busy at the times people get hungry there is a line out of the door. While waiting in line you may get hungry look at all the food in the glass display fridge. Those desserts look yummy then maybe next time I’ll try it. There is always ice cream across the street.

This place caught me completely by surprise! When a friend suggested we try the«Persian sandwich shop» in Westwood, I went with an open mind and an empty stomach. Despite knowing the culinary scene in WW relatively well, this place wasn’t on my radar. Around lunch time on a weekday we settled into a couple of chairs at a table on the patio and awaited our order. Shortly after we were seated, the shirazi salad arrived, which we promptly drowned in that lemon dressing. The salad was definitely fresh and the onion, tomato, cucumber mix had a nice crunch to it. We nibbled on that until our sandwiches were ready. We got two to share — beef koobideh and tongue. The koobideh was beautifully seasoned and despite the small size of it in comparison to the baguette, the flavor was definitely noticeable. It was served with pickles, lettuce, and basil. The tongue was something I’d not had before but Attari’s was tender, moist, and it essentially fell apart in my mouth. The layer of fat really added to the flavor. Pickles, tomatoes, a light dressing of mayo and lettuce were stuffed in between the crusty baguette. These were actually really great sandwiches, perfect for a quick lunch or something to grab on the go.

Pretty good sandwiches, maybe a 3.5 rounded up but I was definitely surprised to see Jonathan Gold ranked it in his Top 100 restaurants. Sitting outside on the patio, even at night, is a good time because the location is tucked away from Westwood Blvd, across from the 7 – 11 and across the street from Pomodoro. Once we finished dinner and walked back, the street was blocked off with four police squad cars and flares set up. Another group of teens were yelling at a driver. It was an immediate reminder of just how rare a quaint and homely sandwich shop like Attari is especially given it is a few feet from the heart of Westwood. FOOD: Osh: Lentil soup w/bread. I think crispy onion strips too. Was pretty good and had a lot of flavor which I never believed lentils could have. Tongue sandwich: this was good, the best of the sandwiches we tried. However, my friend’s tongue sandwich had thin slices whereas the one I ordered came with big, thick, and tender pieces. Depending on what cuts of meat you get it can make a huge difference. Chicken: I wasn’t a big fan of the chicken but it certainly had plenty of leafy greens and tomatoes which made for a lighter and healthier sandwich. One thing I have to note is that there is just something missing in the sandwiches. I felt like it needed some kind of sauce to really give it that extra pizzazz and oomph. In the end, we used copious amounts of Sriracha and Tapatio sauce. Overall, good, fresh tasting sandwiches and a nice introduction to Persian food and flavors. Tip: Credit card min $ 10 Tip 2: Make it a date by getting ice cream at Saffron and Rose across the street.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating! Attari is one of the best Persian food places in Westwood. I have been coming here for many years and I’ve tried most of their sandwiches and Kabobs; everything is amazing and delicious but I definitely recommend the Persian Soup or «Ash/Osh» it SURPASSED. Tonight for the first time I tried their Ash, I really don’t know what kind of Ash was it but it was very delicious. Attari is not a fancy place. Do not expect an A+ service; you order the food and one of the staff brings the food to your table. Yes, very casual and small place and no server to serve you but the food worth trying especially the Ash/Osh! Finding a parking space can be pretty challenging in this area because there is no parking lot and you need to find a street parking.
