The waitresses here all deserve five stars. The service at the tables and at the bar never lacks, but the food is apparently like buying a used car from a questionable salesperson — it’s prepared and served «as is». Sure, if there’s a problen when it’s served, the waitresses will try to make it right, but the cook (s) are something else. You may or may not be satisfied with a fix. And there’s never an offer to take a bad meal or a questionable drink off the bill.
In spite of that though, the place is very popular because the prices can’t be beat. In other words, everything is great except the cooking. So, if you want to fill up and get a good drink at a better than fair price and get great service, this is the place. But the cooking is a crap shoot.

Food was great. Only issue, my wife goes to counter to get the bartender attention. She said «what?» in the rudest voice I ever heard. I was behind her and proceeded to flip out on her and tell her no one talks to my wife like that. She didn’t respond. I would not go there based off the service. I believe she was actually the owner. she didn’t like us because we weren’t regulars or something. Food great & Service is horrible. Go see for yourself if you’d like.

Must be a local joint for sure. Small menu. Mostly all fried food. Hubby got fish and chips. And I had fried scallops and shrimp. Frozen everything. Definitely overpriced. I understand there is not much here in this town. Needs a overhaul and some cleaning for sure.

This is a dive bar but prices are amazing and so is the food ! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something great to eat and drink at a cheaper price.

This place is a seriously awesome example of how EVERY dive bar should be. Friendly and attentive waitstaff, funny locals who you can sit and listen to for hours, awesome food, and just a laid back, chill atmosphere. The next time I’m in town, I’m definitely coming back for some more lobsta rolls!

Just had a wicked AWESOME lunch! My kind of lobster roll– more lobster, no mayo. The fried whole belly clams are sweet, light batter & not oily.
Finally found a favorite dive whenever we’re in town!

This restaurant was quite a find, amazing food, overwhelmingly low prices.
It came to my attention who had this recommended to him by a local, the exact recommendation was for their lobster rolls which I’ve yet to experience as they’re served only two days a week (Monday and Saturday).
I have told numerous people about this place and I am planning on returning soon

Wow. Amazing lobster rolls, so full of meat I had to eat it with a fork. They use lettuce rather than celery, which was a little weird, but excusable. Cheap $ 4 beer. Harpoon IPA and wormtown (7 hills?) on tap. Didn’t look at the wine list, but it seemed like the bartender gave generous pours. I sat at the bar, service was brusque but good. Loved listening in on conversation between the bartender and the regulars. Also, the interior is much more appealing than the exterior, and there were several families with kids. Total townie gem, will be a first stop for out of town guests.

This place is the best. From the outside it looks a bit sketchy but the food is delicious. Cheap beer and food, great staff! I wouldn’t go here for a first date, but the place is awesome!

Great food, great prices, great people! What more can you ask for? The seafood is always awesome!

At some point in time no matter how good your food is, wait staff that make customer’s feel uncomfortable is going to drive people away. I was not the subject of the wait staff’s rant but an observer of some type of bad interaction that started before I arrived, I know this is not the place to go for ambience and 5 star customer service but I do deserve to enjoy my meal. I have eaten here for years and have recommended Herbie’s to many people, I can’t say I will do that any longer.

First time here on a recommendation. Fried scallops and Cajun swordfish with the best we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back!

Definitely a dive bar but with nice people and delicious food. Lobster Rolls are only served on Monday & Saturdays. But the Crab Cakes are a great alternative.

We stopped at Herbies on trip from PA to Maine based on Unilocal reviews. We were not disappointed. The lobster rolls were fantastic. It is a classic dive. Ignore the appearance and elderly clientele. Enjoy. You’re welcome!

What a hidden gem this place!

Went for business lunch on a Wednesday. The place was PACKED and had to wait. What is this place? It looks like a dive bar.
60% of the customers were retired, 20% drunks with no teeth, and the other working class.
The draw I find was the cheap beer on draft and the fantastic fried seafood at very reasonable prices.
A good meal, just ok service (but I was in a hurry, ya know?)
When I come back to the dirty old city of Wocester, I shall return.

My favorite bar! I named my dog after it! This place is amazing, don’t judge a book by its cover. You may look at this place at think it’s just another dive bar but the food here is amazing and cheap! This place is packed every day during dinner hours, you will wait for a seat because it gets crazy busy. The fried seafood is probably the best in the area, it’s right up there with Ronnies. Beers and shots are cheap, at nine o’clock the juke box gets turn on at the younger crowed starts to pile in.

A pure hidden GEM! Simple great food and wow on a Saturday they open at 11 am and it is packed! I ordered the lobster roll and when it was set in front of me my GOD! How does this happen it was hevan! Will be back

It was an amazing experience! It was like homemade. The portions were super big and I’d definitely come back again!

Always an excellent meal for the price. Friendly servers and staff. Atmosphere is only thing lacking (noise and crowd) but other than that, a perfect place to eat.

Like other reviewers, I was nervous my first time in Herbie’s but was pleasantly surprised. The food is good. The only complaint is that the staff can be, frankly, a-​holes to their customers, particularly the bartenders. The waitresses run themselves ragged to keep up, bless them.
The drinks are a great deal though, as is the menu. The quality of service is what keeps me from giving them more stars.
