it doesn’t look like much from the outside but the atmosphere is great, food and service is even better

The drinks here are pretty good, and not too expensive. The sushi is good too. However, the location and parking does suck, but the owners are super friendly. They are social, and bring a good vibe.

Amazing place. Amazing food. Best I ever had. And the staff is very nice. I would come here again and again. Sony is a great guy and treat us well. And he is a funny guy. Great quality food, with great quality service. Highly recommend to others. I don’t what maki is the best. Because there’s so many. From spider roll, to volcano roll it’s incredible. And there habachi is very good. Especially their filet mignon and shrimps. Worth the price. The environment is small but it feels local and very well. Well overall for those who just want to know how good is this place and skip all of this writing. Is very good and worth it. Perfect for dates and a huge gathering with friends and family. It’s not an ordinary habachi place it’s more than that. Believe me. Try it for yourself. You won’t regret it. It’s a hidden gem in Worcester.

Went there for lunch @ 2PM Friday Ordered my staple dish, Spicy tuna, and decided to try something new, the Volcano Maki. The Tuna was the chopped up variety, not a solid piece I get at more high end places, and about a ¼ teaspoon of spicy mayo, which when eaten just made it taste like a roll of mayo and rice. The Volcano Maki looked just flat out gross, some amalgamation of crab and baked scallop mixture lathered in spicy mayo and some other sauce, piled high ontop of oddly small cali rolls, I tried to take a couple bites as sometimes looks can be deceiving but this time looks were spot on. I wasn’t quite happy with this place the first time but I figured Id try again, really wish I didn’t.

I really don’t know how did this place get 4 star reviews. Shitty place, inedible food, worst service. The fish they use turned musty. We are the only guest in the place, they yank a hobo out before we came in. We left the whole table of food and get the check in 10min, just want to leave this place asap. Don’t believe some of the reviews, I guess those high score reviews are made by their own staff. Don’t ever come here if you want to waste your money and get angery.

We came here around 9PM on a Friday night and the place was completely dead. Pretty standard habachi, nothing special food wise. However, the actual habachi«performance» was terrible. No onion volcano! I repeat: no onion volcano! No sake, no throwing zucchini pieces… nothing. The guy just came over, quickly grilled the food and threw it on our plate. When I asked why there was no onion volcano, he takes some sake, pours a puddle on the grill and lights it on fire… Says he will give me 2 onion volcanos next time, as if I’ll return.

Best crab Rangoon ever! Had the Scorpion sushi roll & spider sushi roll! Yummy! Only drawback to this place is location, it’s right on the corner where 5 roads crisscross! You almost have to be part kamakazi to get here!

I can’t believe the reviews for this place. Worst sushi restaurant ever! Only Sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to that doesn’t have Japanese beer– the waitress looked at us like we were crazy. She’d never heard of Asahi or Sapporo– really? So my husband and I ordered Buds, and we get Bud Light, and a nasty look when we said that’s not what we ordered. But the worst part– fake crab in a spider maki. And more spicy mayo than could drown a rat. Glad we weren’t hungry. Dislike!

Okay, so my hb and I have frequented many sushi restaraunts… this is by far the BEST that we’ve gone to!!! Not only are the maki rolls the best we’ve ever had but the Worcester Roll is nothing short of AMAZING!!! The owner, Juan is so cordial, he makes you feel like family. This is our ‘go to’ place from now on… You just have to try it!!!

This place is a mixture of good intentions and ok sushi. I think the Teppanaki would have been better because I kept staring at the fish and wondering how fresh it would have been? We had the boat for two and it was arranged in a small boat but the sushi pieces were big! I thought that was all the food we would get but they brought out some Maki rolls too, much to my delight! The bad side was that the rolls were slightly warm and not the best tasting? The service was ok, when we got there our table was dirty so my girlfriend asked one of the waiters to clean it. And we had to ask for water instead of them bringing out water. They were polite but a little sloppy on the service? Finally I noticed a fruit fly that was mentioned in a previous post also visited us and the table with the crack in it was not repaired? Ok sushi at ok prices. I might try the Teppanaki instead if you go here. At least you know its fresh and cooked?

Just got the spider and tiger eye. These were great! My wife and I love these cooked and baked sushi rolls. Not sure what the dine-in experience is like(pretty empty on weeknights), but this is my go-to take out place for Japanese food now

They always take care of me and my girl. Only place we will go!!! Love their rolls. Their chefs are amazing. They always treat you like family and you can go without breaking the bank. Always fresh and never frozen so from time to time they will run out. But they will make up for it. You can dine in or take out. The staff is always there for you so never worry about being forgotten and the take out is alway packaged for easy carry. I love these guys!

A neighbor friend recommended Takara highly. We were so disappointed with our meal. The toaster oven needed to heat up the eel was broken and it wasn’t until almost all the way through the meal that it was fixed enough to heat up two very small pieces of eel. The spider maki soft shell crab was pre-fried and re-heated. The most unexpected and disturbing thing to the spider maki and the Worcester roll was the heavy hand of two kinds of sauces laid on in criss cross all over the top. It was a gooey mess and hid inferior rolls underneath. Not going back.

I drive through Kelly Square very often, and I always overlooked this place. I don’t know what made me finally try it a couple months ago, but I’m glad I did. The service was exceptional– everyone was so nice to my boyfriend and I. And very attentive. The food was some of the best sushi I’ve had in New England. We had some dessert too, and that was equally good. The(alcoholic) drinks were mixed really well, unlike a lot of Japanese/sushi places I go to where the drinks are WAY too strong to even enjoy We had a really great experience here. We will be back.

First, this place is very intimate. There are only a few non-cooking non-sushi tables, but outside of Boston this is the best sushi restaurant around. Try the Kelly Square roll which is out of this world. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly and your dollar goes a long way here. Funny that the whole staff running this Japanese restaurant are mostly vietnamese but what does that matter. Really great food, nice atmosphere and a good value.

Right in the middle of kelly Square. they have many options for seating. You can sit at the sushi bar, the regular bar, intimate seats, or grill where they cook in front of you. the alcohol prices were average but very strong. the scorpion bowl was great! The food was well priced and the Sushi and Tempura were really good. the atmosphere was nice and $ 50 went a long way. The staff was very friendly recommended very good food. We’re definately going back and want to plan a birthday party here

Takara gets my vote as the best sushi in Worcester. They have a better than average selection, and some special maki that are really creative. The sushi bar seats about 12, and there are half a dozen teppanyaki tables for 6 – 10 people each. The entrée options are fairly standard teriyaki and steak, with a few noodle dishes. We’ve tried both chicken and beef teppanyaki and found them both to be fresh and nicely prepared. The staff is friendly and does a good job of putting people at ease. The sushi bar is where this place really shines. Over several visits, the fish has been uniformly fresh and appealing — even the yellowtail, which I find is the first thing to have an off odor. The soft shell crab in a spider roll was crisp and hot without being greasy. There is a rotating crop of ‘special’ maki featuring unusual ingredients such as filet mignon, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys either sushi or teppanyaki style cooking.
