I wrote a review of here recently after visiting for breakfast — the breakfast was quite tasty and I gave it 4 stars. Unfortunately after visiting today for lunch, I have to drop my review down to 3 stars. I took my parents here for some tasty lunch during a shopping trip but we were all left a little disappointed. My parents were delighted to see stew on the menu and we ordered it, only to be told there was no stew. So we asked for a few minutes to choose something else, and decided to go for baked potatoes… only to be told these weren’t available either. In fact there wasn’t much on offer at all, and I ended up going for a lunch special of chicken and rice with chips and salad, which wasn’t the best. My dad had soup which he enjoyed but didn’t find very filling, while my mum’s omelette was nice but again not the most filling. On this occasion the food wasn’t anything special at all and the lack of choice was very disappointing. Also, one guy seemed to be working alone and it took a long time for the food to come even though it wasn’t very busy. I won’t drop to below 3 stars as I did enjoy my breakfast on my first visit, but overall I think the café needs to raise their game a little in order to stay competitive with other cafes in South Belfast.

I was working on Boucher Road last week and I was looking for a decent lunch. I didn’t fancy the usual meal deal from the Centra so I thought I’d try the Boucher Plaza Bistro or BPB as its abbreviated to. I was shocked at just how nice it was. Even the style of the place was a little more classy than what I had expected. The service was great. The lone worker was on top of 3 tables at once and he knew all the daily specials off the top of his head. I ended up going for the lasagne. It came with a large side salad and a few chips. I was impressed with the quality of the food although it was obviously ore made. BPB makes a nice change from the norm on the Boucher Road. Really convenient to all local businesses with great parking to boot.

Plonked in the heart of industrial Belfast is the Boucher Plaza Bistro. At first it seems a little out of place. A classy black façade with plush interior with great minimal branding doesn’t quite fit with the traditional rustic chippy van that you’d expect in this area. Anyway, I for one think it is a welcome change. I actually went here yesterday to meet a friend who was working at Boucher Road. I had passed by a few times and that classy branding I mentioned before caught my eye. We went in here to grab a quite bite around 2pm, just after peak time I suppose, and the place was quite quiet. The service was excellent. The chap working(on his own I think) rushed right over to take our drinks order. I had a flat white which was lovely. Whilst we waited to make our food order I had a look around. They have an ice cream kiosk, plenty of seating and a huge flat screen on the wall showing Sky News. The waiter ran us through all the specials, there were a lot but I opted for the lasagne. The waiter generously put a few chips on the side to go with the salad. Oddly my friend pointed out that the lasagne had carrots in it, I found this strange but it was delicious. Overall I loved the place — really classy and a nice pit stop for anyone working at Boucher or shopping at Boucher for that matter. Really enjoyed it!
