A trad Irish bar, with live entertainment at weekends in the evening and occasionally mid week. They have a decent selection of beer and the Guinness is nice. There is food served and although it looks nice I haven’t tried it. It’s a perfect place for a quiet pint basically.

I liked the small atmosphere and the friendly Shauna behind the bar. The Fish and Chips with mushy peas, was a nice warm meal and filling. Tons of flavor. I am now a huge fan of mushy peas! The Guinness was a perfect pour and temperature! Music in the background… not too loud. There were two TVs within the bar area as well that had subtitles. I am glad that I ventured down to this place — easy walk from the Hilton. No one recommended it to me, but I will certainly recommend it to others. It is worth a try!

I like Ronnie Drews. It has had a makeover from its previous incarnation as Maginnis’s and had a bit of a bad rep because of the event that took place at it a number of years ago. It was just literally around the corner from where I work, and I had not been in it before and needed somewhere close by to meet for a work day lunch, so chose here, and came along with a completely open mind, unaffected by what the place might have been like previously. I was impressed with how it looked, bright, spacious, modern, and comforable but intimate booths, where you could sit and have a bite to eat and a chat. It wasn’t terribly busy and the waitress was straight over to us, chatting away and passing the time of day, she gave us recommendations for food on the menu. We ordered our food, I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap, which came quickly and was very tasty and a perfect amount for lunch. I’ve not drank in here before, but would not hesitate to come back for a meal. It is very friendly, comfortable, and does good food for a decent price.

I hadn’t been in this pub since the re-name and rebrand though I had visited Magennis’s a few times in past years. Anyway, on the way to a concert in St Georges Market it seemed like the logical place to have a pre-gig pint at. Unfortunately the place was so packed it would be unfair to try and pass judgement on it as we had to stand outside in the rain whilst a few more hardy souls’ ferried drinks out of the packed bar area. The pints themselves were good and I will return to give it a more thorough check-out. Pros: Guinness was good. Cons: Not really fair to comment.

This pub has had a name change since a terrible incident happened outside this pub back in 2005 and I think since then it’s tried to re-lift and rebrand. I don’t really feel comfortable in this place and I’m not sure why. It has the usual Irish pub décor, lots of wood and lots of pub items on the walls. The beer is the usual mish-mash of taps and the usual selection of bottled lagers(sadly no half decent local ales) They also do food and are also big on showing football(possibly one reason I’m not a huge fan)

Ronnie Drews in a pub which is steeped in History and in prime location minutes from the Waterfront Hall, City Hall and next door to the fabulous St George’s Market. The bar has recently been done up and is a great place to go for a pint and a bit of pub grub! The décor consists of lots of wood, booths and wide screen Tv’s ideal for the football. The food is the usual pub grub burgers, steaks, chicken and fish. The Trio of fish is pretty good! They also offer soup and sandwiches and although they offer an ulster fry I haven’t tried it. yet!
