St. Annes Square has a wealth of restaurants, but my favourite has to be The Potted Hen. Some places can be hit or miss, but I have never had a bad meal here. Ever. With light coming in on three sides, and tastefully, minimally decorated it is a great place for lunch with the girls or a pre-Mac theatre treat. I would say the burgers are wonderful, but so was the risotto I had the last time or the steak I had when in for a wine-fuelled gossip with friends a couple of weeks ago. The menu is simple yet has enough variety for even the picky one in your party to find something, and for what you get it is really reasonable on the purse. Also, the staff are lovely, even when we lingered a little long when I’m sure they wanted to go home! It can get busy, so if you fancy lunch on a Saturday my main piece of advice is get in early to avoid disappointment!

Great location but the food is serviceable at best. Nevertheless the location can’t be taken for granted. It’s a stone throw from the Mac theatre and down the street from the buzzing cathedral quarter bar area. However if a quality meal is your priority then there are many better restaurants than this.

This restaurant is perfect if your looking for a nice meal out. It’s location is great with plenty of car parking near by in the new St. Anne’s Square complex. The menu is varied yet not overwhelming and has a local cuisine fusion with gastropub feel. I have eaten here a few time but would highly recommend the pork belly with celeriac purée, black pudding and apple sorbet followed by sticky toffee pudding with honeycomb ice-cream(heavenly!). Anytime I have been there the service has been impeccable and every waiter/ess couldn’t do enough for you. Overall it’s the perfect place to take yourself or guests if your looking for a quality meal with a local feel.
