I visited Rosemarino yesterday, after reading such good reviews in Unilocal and I have been deeply disappointed. Let’s start with the menu. I was expecting rosemarino to be an italian restaurant and we went there for pasta, but we could hardly find any pasta in the menu apart from one with seafood, which is quite a limitation for many people. Finally we make our order. And wait. And then wait more. And we were ready to disregard the one hour waiting time if the food was nice, but both my friend and me found it really mediocre. We ordered vegetable risotto which was really dry(and the combination of ingredients quite boring) and pork ragu gnocchi which were nicely homemade but over– cooked. And then we made the mistake to order desserts. Another 20 minutes wait for already made desserts! And the restaurant was not even busy at that moment. Overall it was a very disappointing Saturday dinner for us. Moreover, we both got the impression that although the staff were nice and polite to us, they seemed really fake.

After finally visiting Rosemarino for dinner this week, it’s clear to see why this wonderful restaurant cleaned up at the ‘Bristol Good Food’ Awards! Expect to be served authentic Italian dishes Fresh, clean and vibrant dishes using very high quality ingredients, cooked to perfection, beautifully presented. Because the quality of the food speaks for itself, it is not too heavy in size, or bulked out with carbohydrate and fat — meaning that as well as being delicious the dishes are health conscious too! It makes the perfect place to go for a romantic occasion, when you want to treat the parents, or impress guests. It would be okay for groups — so long as all parties appreciate good food, and allow you to enjoy and get excited about the offerings! I ate: — mixed vegetable antipasti; an assortment of chargrilled courgette, aubergines, mushrooms and onions, buffalo mozzarella, sun-blush tomatoes, olives. — mackerel fillets with roasted beetroot, kale and salsa verde — elderflower and blood orange sorbet The wine list was very good too; offering premium wines by the glass as well as bottle. I tried a glass of the cheapest white(approx. £5 for 250ml), and was so pleased to find it of such good quality, and accompanied the food brilliantly. Service also friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. I will be going back again to try their brunch and the Sunday lunch — I have heard great things!

We had a family lunch here and they have plenty of classic lunch/brunch dishes, well executed. Perhaps even better, they have some very nice beer from a small brewery outside Bristol, definitely worth trying! Their espresso is nice, their cappuccino(at least the one I had) more forgettable. Prices are all right. Worth a visit if you’re in the area. I look forward to returning and also try their dinner.

Great skate. Also antipasti with loads of frutti di marre was a relish.

We paid £35 a head, and were given a peach bellini to start — then a sharing plate of antipasti(with honestly some of the most creamy, delicious mozzarella EVER) plus a load of cold meats, sundried tomatoes, fresh bread and the like. Then, fresh pasta with mushrooms, THEN steak and truffle macaroni cheese — and finally, an insanely wonderful dessert plate. Just WOW. Such good value for money, amazing food, and a really great night. A totally undiscovered gem(and apparently one of the best roasts in the city!)

If you haven’t been to Rosemarino yet — what have you been doing?! — Eating nuggets out of a cardboard box I imagine — you philistine. Rosemarino is a real treat and a rarity; they obviously care a great deal about the quality and authenticity of the food but have kept the prices extremely reasonable. Perhaps my favourite thing about Rosemarino — other than reading a paper or having a meal with friends in the light, relaxed atmosphere — is their events; such good value for a truly unique and special social or culinary experience. I paid £20 for an evening of great food and Italian language lessons! Keep your eyes peeled for their upcoming events. I would strongly recommend any one of them to anyone looking for something new and interesting to do with their evenings. Failing that, just pop in for breakfast, brunch or aperitivo!
