This is one of the better charity shops of all the gazillion on Gloucester Road. I’m not a great one for charity shop browsing as I find it hard to identify a real find and visualise how it might work on me. But whoever does the window displays in this shop is really gifted because I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight of a cardie/dress combo behind the glass. This theme was followed throughout the shop where all of the mannequins were equally well-clad and really showcasing the shop’s most on-trend items. I think they obviously get such great stock because this is an affluent and trendy area. But this hasn’t forced the prices up and it’s all in a good cause so well worth buying here.

This one of the poorer charity shops on the Gloucester Road, in my opinion. It’s a bit too white and bright for my liking. I always think that charity shops should be a bit more homely in style — perhaps the money spent on the refurbishment of the shop floor would be better off going to the good cause itself? There isn’t a large range of stock on display either, and this particular St Peter’s Hospice shop seems to be a little more expensive than some of its counterparts in other areas of the city. Nevertheless, I will occasionally stumble across something useful in here, so I might have a look around if I’m passing.

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s biggest charity retailer and has almost 50 shops in and around the city centre. This particular shop on Gloucester Road is popular with students, as regularly receives trendy donations in return. St Peter’s is probably the most stereotypical charity shop on Gloucester Road in that it smells quite musty and is a bit dishevelled. But there are friendly, helpful volunteers here as well as a brilliant bric-à-brac section. I nearly refurbished my kitchen with cups, glasses and plates from St Peter’s!

This small branch of St Peter’s hospice in the popular student area of Gloucester road is situated near to the small clothing boutiques but is obviously at an advantage due to the prices. They have a small range of mens, womens and childrens clothing, as well as the standard book, CD and DVD shelf and ‘white elephant’. Like most of the shops on Gloucester road, this one’s very student conscious, with slightly higher then normal prices for a charity shop and a special attention to current fashions. Definitely one for the list of places to come across a good find on Gloucester Road.
