Easily one of my favourite pubs! Great food with even better prices can be found at The Baron of Beef. The location, bridge street, is close to the city centre and river so the setting is perfect!

Surprisingly nothing I had here was as bad as most of the other pubs I’ve been to, even, *cue gasp* the chinese chicken noodle. Who the f goes to an english pub and orders chinese chicken noodle? I did… I guess I was that sick of pub food. I started with the tomato and basil soup, which was decent, and then had the noodles. For 7 quid, the quantity was actually pretty small, but it tasted pretty good! I tried the Beef and Ale pie which was good. The sides were good as well. The pea was not overcooked, and I heard it was good, though I did not have a taste, and the mashed potato was really buttery. Not so bad for 8 quid. The service here was very good. Both our bartenders and our servers were very friendly and helpful. I think the food here is supposed to be really cheap, but we just didnt order the cheap stuff.

This is a damn fine pub. It was nice and cool; a great place to hide from the sun on a hot day. There’s a cool atmosphere, pretty little patio and awesome vegetarian selections. A cauliflower and cheese tart? Yes please! The amount of food for the price you pay is redonk – I was so full I could barely walk out. I believe I paid £7 for the tart, salad and big-ass jacket potato. We were there for lunch so the place was pretty empty, but I hear the place is pretty hoppin’ in the evenings. I will be back!
