The location is great. Not spot on in the center but face it, unless you are living at a college nothing is… The rooms are cheap and clean but they are on top of a pub and that you can hear, till around midnight. It’s and old English house and the sound carries… The pub however in itself has excellent atmosphere and if you are having a pint or two before sleeping, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

went to a few gigs here, and they turned out well. the stage area is a bit small and accesed by the route to get to the smoking area which, when packed, makes it very tight. The pints are well poured. and the bands that play are often quite good.

Great live music all the time, often has little known bands that become widely known bands — mumford and sons most recently. Have quirky nights. Really nice atmosphere, not great décor but its a pub and i think their moving up the street anyway.

The food menu has a good selection on it and it changes seasonally, the specials board is normally there and there is a quick Tapas menu and sandwich menu to allow for those office workers that need to get in, eat and get back to work. The beers are the classic Greene King ones but none the worse for that, a friendly place but be warned when the function room is used for music in an evening it can be difficult to hold a conversation.
