With out a doubt the best food I’ve had all week not that everything else was bad but this was soooooo good. I can’t believe this place doesn’t have a constant que to get in I placed my order for a mixed grill. I’m always a sucker for mixed sat down with images of kebabs and shawarma dancing in my head. I was settled in and ready to wait. The owner asked if I had been before and how I found the place. We chatted for a bit then he went to the kitchen and popped out with what he called a snack. To me it looked the size of a starter. Hummus, baba ghanouj, and something called a rabbi salad I think. They were all very good the entire time I was there everyone was very friendly and chatty much different that I usually get when I order take away On to the mixed grill I almost forgot I was waiting for food. The portion was insane easily enough for 2 – 3 people. There was lamb and chicken in various forms some ribs and kebabs and wings. All amazing the rice and bread were cooked perfect. Sadly I have to admit due to the large portion I didn’t try the salad I had to prioritise what I shoved in my face. Perhaps I’ll give that a go later after a burn off some calories I didn’t look at much else on the menu but I did hear someone order a falafel wrap and it was only 3 pounds

We’ve been on a bit of a pilgrimage recently to try to find the Glasgow equivalent of the restaurants we loved when we lived in London. As we were in Shepherds Bush, we used to eat a hell of a lot of Lebanese and Persian(aka Iranian) food and Babylon was next on our hit list. After a night freezing our limbs off for a great silent film screening in the brilliant Britannia Panopticon, Babylon was the ideal stop off for two very hungry, very cold people on their way home. And my goodness, what a place. Grilled meats, Persian stews, the most perfect falafel. The food was really, really fantastic. The menu seemed to be a mixture of Lebanese(some of the styles of kebab, the wraps, the falafel) and Persian(the dips, soups, stews and some of the other grills). You walk past a take away area into the warm dining room, buzzing even on a Thursday at 8.30pm. There is no booze on the menu and I wouldn’t imagine it’s OK to bring your own here — but the soft drinks are fantastic. There is a date and rosewater drink which I didn’t try, but will next time, and a gorgeous minty lemonade(‘minto’ on the menu) which was freshly made with crushed ice and loads of mint — and the perfect foil to the food. The service was charming — our waiter and waitress were lovely, and clearly so proud of the great food they served. My only regret was that we were too stuffed(and it was too late in the evening) to get any of the baklava. We asked for some just before we left and the waiter said that as it came from the bakery in their supermarket next door(they had apparently installed the bakery at great expense some months ago) and the supermarket had closed, we would have to ask earlier next time! We were stuffed, so probably a good thing really. The location is a slightly unusual one. It’s under the railway bridge on the way out of Central Station. The map on Unilocal is correct though Google maps doesn’t seem to know where it is. Basically, if you’re driving, you can park up by the Crossfit Gym or the Babylon supermarket — walk up, turn under the bridge, past the Indian restaurant and you’re there. You won’t regret making the trip.

This is an amazing place, although it may not look too promising from the outside inside it is a different story ! Fresh, healthy authentic food served by helpful waiters who are willing to make suggestions if you are new to middle eastern cusine. It is also very reasonable with main meals ranging from about £7-£10 and they don’t serve small portions, so make sure you have your extra large jeans on! Overall, I had a fantastic experience with great food, good hospitality with a real flavour of the middle east.

I’ve always wanted to try this restaurant out but from the outside I’ve always been rather apprehensive, especially with it hidden under a bridge in a not so nice area. However, I’m glad I went inside and found the place full of customers all chatting away in Arabic and staff who are also from the Middle East/Iran/Turkey. The menu is full of traditional Middle Eastern foods, in particular the Kebabs, Stews and Shawarmas. Craving an authentic shawarma, I ordered the chicken and lamb shawarma wrap with a side of falafel and houmous to takeaway. The chicken shawarma is as close to authentic as you’ll find in Glasgow, juicy, full of chicken and vegetables. Amazing. It was delicious. I couldn’t finish it all in one go and saved the rest for later as it’s that big! The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Very good. I wasn’t a fan of the houmous though, slightly too much olive oil on it and not enough lemon juice for my liking. You can buy better out of Waitrose. If you go here, you HAVE to get the meat. I saw someone order the Mixed Grill and it looked sensational. Cannot wait to go back and sit in. The location and décor may be a little off putting but the food makes up for it.

Good service and great food. Got some free dates and soup for arriving just after maghrib in Ramadan. The Lebanese minto drink was perfect. Portions were generous and reasonably priced. Downsides… could improve the décor; a few items on the menu were not available.

Fantastic and authentic Middle Eastern Food, Iranian, turkish, Iranian and Kurdish Dishes on the menu. Suzy the manager is a great girl and very freindly and informed about the various menu options, also very willing to adapt any of the dishes to personal tastes. Well worth a visit if you like these types of cuisine.
