it’s been a while since I’ve eat in here however, I do enjoy the occasional takeaway pizza. I’d been out all day today and was in need of something savoury to eat. For just under £8 they do a 12″ takeaway pizza with two toppings of my choice(a no brainier) so chicken & extra cheese it was. The pizza is a thin crust, and the toppings go close to the edge which makes a nice change. I’m now home & after devouring it I’m nicely stuffed.

I’ve eaten in this gaff a few times now. But this review will be based on my recent visit… I shared a Rosemary focaccia bread for starter which was very nice. Next was a spicy sausage risotto. It was very flavoursome, however the risotto rice was a bit undercooked. This was disappointing as the food I’ve eaten there before has been very nice. My biggest gripe was the service. Our starter plates were lifted whilst I was still chewing my last mouthful, with our main fired down within seconds. Now I’m all for fast service, but I was in and out of the place within an hour… Guess they wanted a Quick turnaround on the table.

I found myself in here about 9 o clock looking very tired after a long bike ride. I decided that i would get a pizza as a friend from work had recommended them and it was right around the corner from my flat. As you walk in its done in a steareotypical lavishnessFriendly staff members all, was asked what i was in for and they confirmed that they did takeaway food! yes! After preusing the menu i opted for a thin base pizza with meatballs, rocket, cherry tomatoes and some spicy chicken. Also got a side order or sauteed mushrooms in garlic and parsley. First thing is that the pizza came in a round container which is 100% compostable, plus point right there! Secondly the staff member who gave me the pizza opened the lid and showed me it before i took it away making sure i was happy, score one for customer service. whe he opened it the smell hit me and wow i was hooked lol. Got it up to the flat and tucked in, the base was crispy, gorgeous and all the ingredients were fresh, tasty and obviously well sourced. Absoloutely gorgeous pizza and the mushrooms we had were gorgeous too and a large portion for the £2.95 i paid. All in it was about 14 or 15 quid for a 12 inch pizza with 4 toppings, two san pelligrino cans of really nice flavours which are hard to find(lemon and mint and orange and pomegranate) and a hefty portion of gorgeous mushrooms. Amazing value and ill be back soon i think!

Decent Italian in a wonderfully garish setting. A place where I wish I could vote 3.5 instead of 3. The service was good and friendly. The middling comes from a couple of missteps, in my opinion. We went there to try out their pizza. While I enjoy a selection this was the classic case of too much choice rendering me unable to decide. There was, if I recall correctly, over 20 toppings you could choose. Take a base, at £7.95, then add toppings. This, if you wanted to pick all of your own toppings, led to the second issue: price. It’s just a bit too expensive. On the one hand it’s a tad expensive for Glasgow on the other it’s a tad expensive for it’s area, again in my opinion. In regards to the pizzas again they did offer pre-made combinations that sounded delicious and were largely around £14. The pizza base, very important, was fine but not exceptional. It came out a bit wet because of the toppings. I had the Carbonara 2 which was tasty but didn’t really wow me.

The staff was exceptionally friendly. Service was quick and it was very easy to alter any dish to cater to one’s personal preferences. The food was very tasty and the portions big. I will definitely come back.

Need a pizza fix? Then look no further than Shawland’s very own Bella Napoli. This is THEEE best pizza in the city by a bloomin’ country mile. In a slightly strange twist to the typical pizza menu they actually give customers the option of a thick, traditional or thin base(not really sure why). My advice however is stick with the traditional base. Its not too thick and not to thin and crispy. Just beautifully hand stretched, lovely soft dough and crusts. Seriously, this is the bees knees. Its AWESOME, AMAZING and AUTHENTIC and the aroma is wonderful. I could go on and on but I think you will be sick of my ramblings by now… I cannot speak for anything else on the menu as I’ve never actually eaten anything here except the pizza. How can you possibly turn down pizza? So what are you waiting for? Just go… now! Ditch your Dominos menu, in fact delete them from your phone book entirely, jump in a cab /bus /car, or run here and come eat real pizza. You will not regret the decision.

Good example of a local Italian. The food is enjoyable and good value. The table service is excellent but service at takeaway counter is poor(strange combination). Quiet and unpretentious atmosphere. No reservation needed.

«This local neighbourhood Italian doesn’t disappoint» Went on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was pretty busy. No wonder, the food and service are extremely good. We were greeted and served with a smile, which sets the evening off well. I had the lasagna and my wife had the calzone. Both were fantastic. The calzone’s light and crisp base was wonderful and the lasagna was rich and tomatoey. Fantastic. Had great carbonara here, and they offer two kinds; authentic Italian and the preferred Glasgow style. Delicious Italian coffee too. Excellent service.

Whilst I rarely get too excited about Italian restaurants due to the fact I can rustle up tastier pasta at home, there is a certain something about Bella Napoli, probably not the food, that makes it that bit more memorable. Coming with the feel of a proper neighbourhood restaurant that isn’t possible to replicate in the city centre, Bella Napoli has become a bit of an institution in this part of town despite not actually having been here that long. On our visit we sat in the bustling deli /diner section at the front, and it’s got the atmosphere and slight sense of chaos that all good Italian restaurants should have. In all honesty I can’t even remember what I had. Pasta is all much of a muchness to me, but the buzz and character of the place makes it a winner in my book.

I like Bella Napoli, I have a few friends who live in Shawlands and whenever we have a catch up we usually head here, no matter what time of day it is it’s always a nice place to sit. I pretty much always get one of their delicious pizzas or a chicken arrabiata pasta, I know, I’m adventurous. For some reason whenever I’m here I’m always famished, perhaps it’s the fact that this place always smells delicious. Luckily, I’ve never had to wait too long for my order as the staff are super efficient. You don’t need to eat a meal though, Napoli is also great to sit in for a coffee and cake and although I generally don’t like coffee, the stuff here is pretty delicious! At weekends it can get very busy so if you’re looking for somewhere quieter you could maybe go to one of the other cafes on Pollockshaws Road and save this place for a weekday. Due to the fact that it can often get quite busy they have both upstairs and downstairs seating but I’ve only ever sat in the upstairs dining area but downstairs looks very nice. I guess the only downside is the price, it’s slightly pricier than other cafes/restaurants in the area, many of which do a 2 for 1 offer, but if you’re in the mood for pizza or pasta then this place is the best on offer.

This is one of the best restaurants situated in Shawlands. Although, that may not be entirely saying too much… as Shawlands does seem to be losing some of it’s buzz lately. One suspects this is due to the recession combined with people beginning to flock to the West End more. Anyhow, this is in an ideal location to pop in for an afternoon coffee or bite to eat, if you have been looking round the shops in Shawlands. If you can, try to be seated in the front section which is admittedly slightly nosier and a bit more hectic. However, you will receive a wider selection of small meals and snacks for a fraction of the ‘back’ restaurant price. The restaurant at the back does have an array of traditional Italian pizza and pasta dishes as well as good(if slightly overpriced) wine. Although, the décor in the restaurant is dated and feels at odds with the front of this venue; e.g. lots of pinks, fabric table clothes and brass metal fixtures compared to the marble floors and clean tables in the front.

The Bella Napoli doubles as a daytime coffee shop and a swish evening restaurant. It is a family run business, part of the proud Crolla empire that dominates Italian food in Glasgow and have the distinctive Crolla expertise in pasta pizza and ice-cream. Owner and chef Domenico has a habit of winning awards, as well as making sporadic forays into making record-breaking pizza, including the world’s most expensive one! The best time to have a coffee is the afternoon: the spaceis big enough to accomodate a fair number of people in comfort, and the cakes are to die for. Evening meals are best savoured at the weekend, when the plush downstairs dining area is opened, although it is also worth checking to see whether the restaurant is celebrating the lastest record-breaker. Then they offer an invite-only buffet, which showcases both the range of food and a wonderful hospitality.

I like Bella Napoli. Maybe just a tad overpriced, but it has a certain something. The carbonara is excellent, though I would give the desserts a miss because they are pric-eeey! The deli section at the top is a good place to go with your mum for a coffee and quick bite to eat and the restaurant downstairs is a welcoming alternative. What I like about the deli is that is has a different menu to the main restaurant. Slightly cheaper, more snacky versions of the main meals. The deli thus becomes a conscious choice, rather than somewhere you go when the restauant is full. There is a nice family atmosphere, one gets the impression — however wrong but strangely comforting that everyone working here is related in some fashion. It can get extremely busy in the evening and you can sometimes feel a little like an unwelcome intruder as things become rather hectic and stressful for the staff. All in all, however, the Bella Napoli is a good old-fashioned Italian restaurant — a little chaotic, extremely satisfying and very, very tasty.

I’ve only ever visited during the day and would say the standard is pretty good. They serve most traditional italian foods and the price range is affordable. I’ve only ever had small things, the pizza slices are filling and I can never say no to their ice cream. The staff can either be great or clueless. It’s best sitting at the window on a stool or in the booth as the rest of the area feels really crowded and tight.

We specifically asked for a window seat as there were 2 free but we were told No because there was only 2 of us and the window seats were kept for groups of 4 people, the booths were also taken so instead we were sandwiched between 2 other couples on the floor. Minus point #1. The menu had changed since our last visit. For starters we shared the Antipasto(£7.95). It was ok, but to be honest the Antipasti we had in Bella Fresca on Paisley Rd West a few weeks previous was cheaper, larger and tastier. Minus point #2 For mains we went for the tried and tested Spaghetti carbonara(£8.50) and five cheese agnolotti(£8.95). Both dishes tasted fine, though for the price a few more agnolotti slices would’ve helped. Minus point #3. These were washed down with their cheapest white(Orvieto) wine(£13.95), which was fine. For desert, 3 scoops of Lemon sorbet with limoncello(£5.95) and poached pears(£5.95), again we had tasted better elsewhere. Minus point #4 Grand total was over £50 yet we were still hungry! Minus point #5 Overall, a disappointing visit to a place that has supplied good meals in the past. Oh, and as we left all 4 window tables were taken. Each one was occupied by only 2 persons. Minus point #6!!! I shan’t be back in a hurry!

A very popular Italian place in Shawlands catering for the ‘coffee and dessert’ customer through to full meals. When you know Italians that recommend it you can be sure it’s more authentic that your average place. Prices may be a little above average but so is the quality. Take away available as well as sitting in.
