I’m a huge fan of D’Nisi. It’s got a good atmosphere, there’s a decent range of food and the coffee is exceptional — I’d say it’s the nicest latte in Shawlands, possibly even in all of Glasgow. It also opens late some nights which makes it a great place to go and sit around to read, work or socialise for hours uninterrupted. The only thing which bugs me about D’Nisi is that it can get pretty hot in the summer and there’s no air conditioning or fans to speak of so they leave the doors open which means sometimes you’ll be sharing your nachos with a fly(or even worse — a wasp) which has roamed in from outside.

D’Nisi is unpretentious and untrendy but relies simply on good coffee and decent, home-made food. They do make most of the food from scratch — I’ve been in often enough that I’ve seen them making pancakes for breakfast, putting the baked potatoes into the oven for lunchtime, making up panini if the one you want isn’t on display and even making the strawberry tarts. They tweak the menu every so often so that there are plenty of new things to choose from, while always keeping the old favourites. The staff are really friendly and they do a loyalty card now which lets you collect points and get money off. We are among a host of regulars who go in here all the time — breakfast, lunch, coffee, or a few bottles of wine with the girls of an evening — it does them all!

We purposely walked from The Shed intersection all the way down to D’nisi for afternoon tea with friends — on a brisk, snowy day that is quite a recommendation! Don’t be put off by the steamed up windows — everyone is snug as a bug inside. The staff were super friendly. D’nisi have just launched a loyalty card(which I’d have signed up for if we went out for afternoon tea more). I tried the Apple loves Mint tea(£1.95 for a pot) and was delighted — this was perfectly uplifting with a good balance of flavours. I tried some of the chocolate mascarpone cheesecake which was heavenly. Definitely a place for a return visit.

Whenever my lady friends and I are looking to have a wee get together in Shawlands, this wee coffee shop is usually where we end up. Tis nice and cozy with plenty of booths and couches to go about, and there’s even a toybox to keep kids occupied while the grown-ups have a natter. My friends and I are more inclined to visit this establishment on a Sunday afternoon for some coffee and a panini. There have been a few Sundays when the café has run out of various things, which was a wee bit irksome, but it goes to show that there are no shortage of customers. The food that is available is always yummy and the portion sizes are pretty generous, which is why I don’t mind the relative priciness. On a weekday afternoon, there are usually a few families in(well certainly a few wee ‘uns), and you might find that getting a seat can be a wee bit tricky. Not being much of a coffee drinker, and sadly no longer able to enjoy beverages full of Moo Juice, my drink of choice is usually a soy chai latte. Some places do this really well, and some fall a bit flat — unfortunatly D’Nisi still haven’t got this right. The overly generous helping of ground cinnamon dusting on top really doesn’t help either. I think if the soy drinks improve, my rating would definitely be upgraded to 4 stars. My coffee drinking friends say the coffee is great, so don’t that put you off(see Charlene’s review as testimonial). The staff are nice and friendly, and quick to offer assistance. Service is also very prompt. If you’re ever in Shawlands, do pop in. ^^

Coffee, Coffee, Coffee! I gave D’nisi 5 stars for their coffee alone, their Caramel Latte just brightens up your entire day. I’m very picky when it comes to my coffee and D’nisi is by far the best Latte around. When it comes to the food, there isn’t a great selection on the menu but what they do have is always prepared to a high standard. Their soups and paninis are delicious and very filling, I’ve seen a few reviews saying they found the menu a bit pricey but for the portion sizes I wouldn’t complain. D’nisi, in my opinion, is the perfect choice for anything from a lil quiet time alone to meeting up with your friends for a good catch up over coffee. The staff are always very friendly and service is always prompt.

As a newbie to the south side of Glasgow, I’ve been trecking the streets to find a coffee shop I really like and want to spend a lot of time in. A few people have said D’nisi is good, but i found it a bit less than average. The pictures of cakes on the walls looked nice but my lunch was so mediocre I didn’t fancy another dish of below par food. It was quite busy when I was in, so others must like it, but nothing here shone for me and doubt I’ll be back.

If you find yourself in Shawlands of an afternoon and feel a little peckish then head along to D’nisi for a spot of brunch, as the food here is of a good standard and very reasonably priced too. This place is also great for coffee catch ups with friends, I’m not a coffee drinker but the hot chocolate is awesome! The staff are really friendly and seem very enthusiastic which gives this place a nice buzz setting it apart from your average coffee spot. I like the décor inside, the wooden floors, the oak tables, I even like the plastic shrubs and if you have tots with you I noticed they had a toy box with a huge cuddly Finding Nemo toy, very cute but I can imagine a lot of fighting over him.

D’nisi is a little bit past Kilmarnock Road’s busier end, but despite the low profile location it seems to be doing pretty well, and manages to feel modern yet homely and cosy at the same time. I can’t say I echo the other reviewers’ criticisms of the baked taters. Mine was admittedly just a safe cheese and butter option, but hit the spot and was almost worth the four pound odds it cost. It is maybe a little generic, but preferable to other such chains as Beanscene, and a relaxing enough spot in which to have a nice sit down come a Sunday afteroon.

A nice addition to Shawlands, D’nisi brings it with good coffee, reasonable food and most importantly, a cosy place to relax in an area that was crying out for it. Although some of the meals appear a little over-priced(five quid for a baked potato), the café really excels with its extensive drink choices, while its free wifi and weekly Thursday live music nights ensure it’s already making a name for itself. It’s a chain of sorts, with branches in Kirkintilloch, Hamilton and Alloa, but a very homely one which represents a far more relaxing refuge than the usual go-to guys.

My boyfriend and I popped into D’Nisi on a chilly Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was warm and homely and it was busy with couples and families spending quality time together. Being something of a hot chocolate addict, I appreciate anywhere that provides a hot chocolate menu with four options to choose from instead of the standard one most cafes offer. I didn’t try the food as the menu looked pretty generic and overpriced. However, I could be wrong about this as, as I said, I didn’t try it.

It is a relatively new addition to Shawlands, but one that already has alively personality. I would not bother with the baked potato choices– gebneric, and often undercooked, but hit the place for brunch, as their coffee is bang on. The sandwiches are much better and the staff feel a lot more relaxed when the place isn’t too busy. It’s more friend formal than date intimate, but cheap at the price and worth a shot on a Thursday night for their«Chillax» evening, til late.
