I once purchased a bright green mac with diamond buttons from Envy. That pretty much says it all, really. It’s always full of teen girls buying the Playboy merchandise that they sell, and boys drooling over designer jeans that rappers wear. Neither of which is really my thing anymore. Good if you are looking for a designer item with a bit of a discount. They do have quite a few dressy outfits for clubbing but they are mostly revealing tops and shorts skirts, which again, i have grown out of. The shop is actually divided over two floors so you can go easily from the mens section to the womens through the actual shop.

I have to agree with Gillian, here. I’ve always browsed in Envy a lot more often than I’ve actually shopped at Envy. When I was younger it was mostly because I didn’t have any money, but liked to cover some of the times and hope that they’d go on sale. I did buy a few cute tops over the years, and they tended to have a decent selection of nice going-out tops, skirts, and dresses. Over the years, though, everything became a little less cute and a little more revealing, a bit too overpriced and a lot less quality. The sale prices are decent, but by that point there isn’t much choice in terms of sizes. They’re also lacking in the accessories department. I remember the men’s section having a good selection of belts, scarves, shoes, and so on. The ladies department is severely lacking, though. Overall, it’s pretty trendy and probably still good if you want a sparkly or revealing top to wear out to the dancing, but if you’re looking for something a little more substantial and lasting, Envy is not the best place to look.

When I was a teenager and slightly more interested in ‘designer’ labels(slightly) I loved Envy. It was ‘cool’ and trendy in an edgy way. Their sales were the bees knees and I stocked up on lotsa trendy(but uninspiring) tops and skirts and jeans. Since that phase passed though I have never made much effort to visit this store which is spread over two floors of the Buchanan Galleries. The trends displayed are no longer of interest to me. I do occassionally pop in during sale though, perhaps feeling nostalgic and although delighted if I find a Yumi dress or something similar, I am generally disappointed. I think the guys clothing is much cooler though — perhaps because their fashions from teen to adult are more stable than us girls with our various fad.
