You probably already know what Oasis stores are like, and this one is pretty standard, so I won’t describe the style of clothes or anything like that. What’s good about it though is the staff. They seem particularly helpful and friendly in this shop. As any woman knows, buying a pair of jeans can be a total TRAUMA. Jeans are difficult! Oasis were doing some sort of denim launch and had about a billion pairs of different jeans, so I put my brave hat on and marched in to give it a shot. There were 2 employees in the changing room, and they couldn’t have been more friendly and actually helpful, giving me honest opinions on the different styles I was trying. Not for them the whole ‘that looks great on you’ patter. I was quite liking the ‘boyfriend’ style, but thought maybe they made my legs look a bit short, but I really wasn’t sure. While not explicitly saying ‘yeah they do make you look a bit stumpy’, I was getting that vibe from the girls, and when one of them said that the flares ‘suit your figure much better’ I thought best to take their advice on board. Very diplomatic too I thought. Then a third girl came in and hadn’t seen the flares on an actual person so had a good look at me. So there’s me parading up and down with my cool flares on like I’m in some sort of alternative universe where I actually like trying on clothes. There was one minor blip when one of them suggested the slim fit something or other and brought a couple of pairs in for me to try. I read later that they are ‘body shaping’. I had purposefully avoided anything specifying slim fit, and for good reason. They aren’t ‘body shaping’ when you can’t even get them over your thighs now, are they?! Anyway, I left quite happy with a pair of jeans and was actually really appreciative of the opinions of the staff, as they had genuinely helped me decide and made the whole experience of trying on jeans a bit more bearable than expected.

Warning — I’m going to start this review with a Really Bad Pun. This shop is like a calm clothing OASIS in the middle of the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre. Get it? Yes? Good, now we can get on with the rest of the review. I am generally a fan of Oasis stores, and this particular branch is no exception. I love that in this shop, the style doesn’t end with the clothes — the décor is just as lovely.(As are the carrier bags!) This place has a delicious vintage-y feel — but without the 80s no-nos and all the clothes being the wrong size. Definitely worth a look if you’re after something floral and cute.

I will second Eleanor’s observation that the lighting and general décor in here makes everything look very vacant: almost hospitalish. I used to shop in Oasis when I was a bit younger, and wanted to appear more grown up. I once bought a turquoise, shimmery trouser suit for a wedding from here, which in hindsight was actually hideous, but cost well over £300. The stuff in here was always expensive, and not much has changed over the years to be honest. I am not a fan at all, and I think the clothing style of Oasis is stuck about 2 years behind. The dresses just don’t do it for me and they all seem really old fashioned, as does everything in here for me to be honest. The shoes are all classic styles, whereas I prefer more modern, platform heels. The accessories are ok, but for the price, I’ve seen better. Somewhere I would normally avoid to be honest! Might decide to go back and shop here when I’m 30, but for now, it’s just a bit behind in the fashion stakes for me!

I can’t quite put my finger on it but I really don’t like Oasis clothes. They charge far too much from something that’s no better quality than something you can find in Primark for less than half the price. I don’t really get what their aiming for or who their intended target audience are, they seem to get the trends completely wrong and everything either looks completely trashy or boring and mumsy. They try and hide this behind a fancy logo and pretty carrier bags with a nice floral design on them. The only thing I like about Oasis are their accessories, they sell really nice watches that come in lovely boxes and are great for presents. I also like their vast selection of earrings but everything else, I’m afraid, just isn’t up to scratch. They bright lighting in this store also makes it very uninviting and makes the shop seemingly empty.
