It took me over 4 years of living in the Southside to visit Heraghty’s Bar, but I’m glad I did and I’m sure I’ll be back. The bar is really small but that gives the place a nice atmosphere. There is a lovely ornate bar serving standard Glasgow drinks. Unfortunately the Erdinger draught had run out, but the Budvar on tap was lovely. Given that the beer selection isn’t great I’d never plan to visit the place on its own, but added to a visit to Mulberry Street and the Allison Arms it’s well worth popping in.

Good friendly local near Queens Park station. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Heraghty’s is a south side institution. A working man’s pub in every sense of the word, you almost expect the dart to stop in mid air when you walk through the door. However the bar staff always welcome you and my boyfriend finds it impressive that it takes about 25 minutes for a pint of guinness to come. Served with care and precision, pouring in this pub is an art! The seating arrangement is quite odd. The tables are pretty far away from their corresponding seats(which are nailed to the floor) making many choose to stand at the bar. This makes for a lively atmosphere as tales of the day and general chit chat reverberate around the place. If you are not a regular you might feel a little left out though. It often seems like everyone in here are old friends. Still, the very purpose of a working mans pub is to offer temporary salvation from the pains of the day, and Heraghty’s does this.

Heraghtys is a well established family owned Irish pub which has been in business for over 30 years. You’ll be greeted with friendly faces, the barstaff and punters alike.
