We just looked in as it was recommended to us but we didn’t have much time… superb range… everything looked very good… chatted to the wine & spirits guy, knowledgable and helpful… need to spend more time to check it out properly

Paninis, soups, cupcakes, stuffed olives, hot meals, cold meals, tarts, chocolate, bread, marinaded anchovies, stuffed peppers, cured meats, cheeses, gateaux, salads, coffees, teas, soft drinks and, possibly most importantly, booze. I love Peckhams. I’m probably there far too often. They pride themselves on being able to cater to your foodie needs all day long, with pastries and rolls in the morning, a wide range of lunch options and even their own range of freshly made ready meals for dinner. Then of course they have offers for coffee and cake, should you need anything else in between. As far as I’m concerned, this is what delis should be like. They would get five stars out of five too, but the service can be just a little bit on the slow side. I don’t mean when they’re struggling with the lunchtime rush because that’s fair enough. I mean, it can take them a few minutes to realise that you haven’t been served, and in serving you some things they can be very slow(don’t bother getting butter on your roll in the morning, unless you’ve got plenty of time on your hands). It’s easy to forgive them because they’re friendly and helpful and because everything is delicious but if they were just a tiny bit more efficient Peckhams would be perfect.

I adore Peckhams, but I have come to realise that I don’t frequent it enough. Must. Try. Harder. They’re one of the original delis in the area and arguably still the best. Whether you’re after a wee snacky delicacy for a dinner starter(or dessert!), that essential but hard-to-find exotic ingredient that you simply must-have for a recipe, a designer beer or three, or even a quality malt whisky, Peckhams is the place that you’re likely to find it. I usually visit here when my eye is caught by a fancy malt whisky in the window(cunningly displayed right beside their cash machine, the cads!), or when I’m seeking margaritas mix for what has become a Christmas cocktails tradition with us. The West End would be a poorer place without Peckhams. Long may they continue.

Peckhams has all the makings for the perfect picnic in the park! A deli complete with meats, cheese, olives, and the like along with a wide variety of chips, cookies, pastries, and other snacks. They also have a good selection of beers and a very large selection of wines, at a wide variety of prices. As a visitor to Glasgow, this was also a great place for me to pick up a few Scottish treats for my family back home. So glad I stumbled upon this little shop!

I rather like Peckhams(oooh, ratheeerrr) — does lunch time meal deals and has nice selection of quiches/cheese/olives etc as well as a good selection of cakes. It now has fruit and veg and an assortment of scottish and european biscuits and condiments. However the winning factor for me is two things — a latte that doesn’t require a sugar and they sell my favourite wine(Cairn ‘O’ Mohr fruit wine — normally have to traipse to Asda Govan for this!).

They have a large collection of whisky, foreign beers, vegan foods and organic products. Very pretty to do window-shopping inside, fun to do browsing. I once sat down for a coffee and cakes. They have very limited seats though. Their selections of cakes(cheesecakes, blueberries, black forest etc, for sit-in or take-away) amaze me, good pricing and affordable. Their staffs are always courteous. I had a late afternoon meal — lamb curry & rice. I prefer their cakes much more. They sometimes offer chicken curry & rice too. It can be a surreal experience for people who enjoy quiet time alone here by the window.

Blah blah deli, blah blah bread. I love this place for one thing and one thing only, the drink! Now I am no Father Jack when it comes to the sauce, however I know a good beer when I taste one. This place is stacked to the rafters with the best beer money can buy! Spent some time chilling out in NYC and fancy a Brooklyn Lager to reignite your senses? They have it here. Hopped about Australia for a while and longing for a Coopers Pale Ale to cool you down on a hot summers day? They have it here. Or have you treked around the south of France and remember the sweet fizzy taste of Kasteel Cru and long for a bottle to pour into a lovely flue glass? They have it here. And best off all it is relatively reasonably priced stuff when you think about how far the bottles travel from — around 2 pounds a bottle. They also sell minatures of the most popular malt whiskies which is great for someone like myself who likes to try before I buy without paying pub prices! Heads up for beer lovers like myself; this outlet has a beer festival on the 17th of April! See you there?

Never having worked, or known anyone who worked, in Peckham’s I can’t comment on the aforementioned complaints about the practices of this place. Nor can I, in all honesty, comment on the quality of the deli, although I have been assured it is pretty damn good. What I do know, however, is that this particular incarnation of the achingly-West End establishment has the best selection of beer in Byres Road. While having visitors from Mexico over recently, I was able to procure a vast selection of beers from the country, many of which I had not seen before, and I’ve also managed to pick up a six pack of Lone Star beer for American visitors in the past. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, chances are the extremely friendly staff will be able to recommend something similar from their wall of ale. It’s also a beautifully presented shop and a nice place to browse even if the prices are a bit on the hefty side.

I have issue with Food snobbery, I have issue with places that put out of date food in there sandwichs and sell it as that days special(I have friend who work there for a bit and had to leave because of this, she was so disgust) I think even for the west end the pricers are too high. If I’m going to pay this much money for food, I’m going to go Heart Buchanan, or any other deli within three feet of peckhams

Oh, dash it! I just LOVE Peckhams! Even though the staff are pretentious and snobby, even though the vegetables are very often withered from being on display outwith refridgerators(oldfashioned way I presume), even though their cake tasters are always whatever is going off, even though I almost ate mould from one of the said cakes one time. Even though everything is just that bit overpriced, and even though the vegetarian lasagne is £3.99 a portion(it shocks me every time) I really do still love the place. The cheese meats and deli counter always tempt you with the food you cannot afford and want so bad! Like the gastronomic equivalent to those designer shoes you just need. And it always feels like a treat when ou indulge in their freshly squeezed orange juice or a bottle of wine. Their cakes too still have a high place in my heart, even though I’ve been disappointe by a few. All in all, this place is hit and miss really, but they save it all just by the pure style and ashamed pomp in the way they go about it. Food snobbery at it’s best!

Deli time! If you like deli style food, then this place is for you. The deli counter sits in the middle of the shop, taking up most floor space, and offers a massive selection of cheese, olives, desserts and many other tasty treats. I like it lots(They have a packed-with-as-many-calories-as-possible chocolate cake, which is melt in the mouth amazing). Peckhams also stock American and European food stuffs(Oreo’s and Italian pasta, and the likes), which is something a bit different compared to some of the deli’s about — they still have british favourites too, like smoked salmon, or, if you like, Haggis. Mmm… Oh, and, as if I could forget, they are also a wine/beer specialist — they have loads of beers/wines lining the walls, and sometimes they have tasters out for a wee try. They can also source bottles for you, which is decent. Good times! So, whatever takes your fancy, Peckham’s probably have it…

A cosy deli with a great west end feel. A good selection of alcohol and really yummy food to take away. Plenty on offer for cheese fans and have quite a bit of stock your average shop will not offer. Oh, and they do a tasty quiche!
