Five stars and three cheers for what must be the foodie bargain of the century, market menu lunch 3 courses for £12 with a very acceptable bottle of merlot at £16. Mull cheddar and leek risotto was perfectly cooked and topped with light curls that tasted like posh Quavers. My Ramsay of Carluke ’ s ham(yes you even get provenance for £12) came with spring cabbage and kale and colcannon mash. My companions had roast chicken breast on a bed of barley and root vegetables with a red wine jus, and stuffed aubergine with all sorts of yummy accompaniments(according to my veggie friend). Pudding was a sugar rush of meringue, ice cream and puff candy. Stylish gently Scottish themed décor and friendly professional staff added to a faultless lunch.

So glad I finally got to try here, having tried the Jordanhill venue and not being wowed. Admittedly, in the middle of summer and very early. Last night, was a booking for 8:15, which was a great time as there was already a buzz about the place. Walking straight into the serving area is a little odd! I loved the simple tartan décor, elegant without being really tacky and touristy. I also loved that the ladies loo, had a sofa, 2 ladies were nattering in there for about 15 minutes!!. The food was impeccable. My Dad opted to have the starter and main from Great British Menu and he said they did not disappoint. I loved the Old Country Rose china, as my Grandma has it, so made my whole family smile. I tried a bit of the smoked haddock bon-bons and they were so crisp on the outside, yet still soft on the inside and not greasy. My crab fishcake and scallops were also incredible. The mains were also of a really high standard. The standout had to be the popping candy meringue, so much sweet on one plate! If I could have it for every desert, that would be great.

We’re in town for a conference and have been eating out every night. We’ve hit quite a few places along and near Argyle Street and have been very pleased. Tonight was our first disappointment. The Sisters presents itself as finer dining than many of the other restaurants in the neighborhood, from the slightly higher prices, to the elegant dining room and clientele who dress for going out. As a result, I was expecting a higher bar of quality. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff were professional and friendly. Those aspects, the restaurant gets right. But the food was incredibly mediocre. I had the black pudding appetizer, which was served in a potato and cheese croquette that had been fried for too long, becoming a hard cake on the bottom and having that over-browned taste that dominated the dish. I also tried my husband’s chicken liver pâté, which disappointed as well. The pâté fell on the thin and gelatinous side, where I prefer creamier, denser(and more flavorful) pâté. It was served with flavorless oatcakes. My main course was a ham, which tasted like a standard Christmas ham and was served with lightly steamed Savoy cabbage and kale. It was boring. My husband said his chicken was good, but when I tried the broth(they give you a spoon to eat it up) it was inedibly salty. For dessert, we had a medley with whisky jelly, treacle meringue and raisin cakes, and their puff candy, which was ice cream, meringue and butterscotch. Both desserts were far too sweet and we couldn’t finish them. It was an unsatisfying meal from start to finish. I will be telling my colleagues at the conference to stay away.

Went to The Sisters on Monday 30 of April for my grans birthday with my mum and sister in law. I booked a fab deal on 5pm which was 3 courses for £12. It had a great variation of choice and I couldn’t wait to go. I had booked lunch for 12:30 and found it a bit hard to find to be honest and the time I put enough money(fingers crossed) in the on street meter we were a tad late. We were sat next to a lovely cosy fire and ordered out starters straight away, 3 soups if the day which was a vegetable broth and one haggis, which was for me. When the soup came my gran gingerly told me it was cold and my mum and Megan agreed. Unfortunately they had to send it back whilst I tucked into my haggis which was lovely, so full of flavour and the gravy that was with it was lovely. For the main course myself, mum and Megan opted for the rosemary chicken with Stornaway back pudding and mash. My gran went for pork shoulder with apples and mash. Presentation was lovely and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their mains. When the waiter mentioned sweet, none of us hesitated and it was an OFCOURSE response due to all the incredible things I’ve heard about the honey comb meringue and my god they weren’t wrong. 4 bowls arrived at our table in a sea of hot butter scotch sauce, sprinkles of honey comb with the meringue sitting proud in the middle with honey comb ice cream on top and to finish more honey comb on that. WOW. The chef even wrote happy birthday on her plate and she was over the moon about that. Well with the money and we all felt satisfied without feeling we had over ate. Lovely place for lunch but next time I will be back to try their A La Carte.

You can find The Sister restaurant on Kelvingrove Street up the steepest stairs in Glasgow — thank goodness I wore reasonably low heels :-) As the dining room was absolutely packed I never took any pictures, I don’t really like to get in people’s face too much with my camera. The vibe tho is grown up, serene and subdued in the best ways, the cream walls were dotted with beautiful abstract art in shades of grey, there was a large fireplace feature, soothing just audible music, fresh red roses on the table(it was valentines!) linen table cloths. It was beautiful and even though it was jumping it felt like a calm and soothing environment. The staff were exactly what you would expect from a restaurant like the Sister — delightful. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the service was fast… probably faster than it normally would be due to the date, having said that I never once felt rushed or harassed — the staff were just sharp and on the ball with clearing plates. The menu at the sisters is like a love letter to Scotland, it was loaded with haggis, black pudding, fish, venison, beef cheeks, clootie dumpling and puff candy. It was like head chef Jackie O’Donnell had stepped into my childhood and brought all those foods into the 21st century. I could very easily have chosen any dish on offer from each course, it’s an utterly lush menu. In the end I decided to try the haggis, neeps and tatties to start, I never took pictures of the menu so I forget the exact description of the dish. My first thought upon seeing my dish was wow! There was a puddle of glossy gravy, in the middle was a large haggis cake topped with neeps and a fritter… yes a freakin FRITTER! I was beside myself as I am sure by now you know how I feel about fritters. The food was utterly gorgeous and without fault, the haggis was tasty and slightly spicy, the neeps were light and creamy, and the fritter was crisp and perfect. Gorgeous! For my main I finally decided on the Chicken breast with Stornoway black pudding, creamed leeks & a red wine jus with a side of Rooster tatties & market vegetables to share. Again visually it was so beautiful to look at. Taste wise it was amazing, the chicken was moist and tender, the creamed leeks still had bite and were seasoned to perfection, the big wedge of black pudding was soft and crumbly, the mash was silky and the red wine jus was lush and decedent. The side was also a triumph — the roasted potatoes were crispy golden nuggets of joy and the veg was incredibly tasty, I even liked the broccoli(I hate broccoli) but I loved however they cooked it. After all that food dessert was touch and go for a while, but there was no way I could leave without trying the Puff candy meringue with honeycomb, ice cream & hot butterscotch sauce. Now lets not kid ourselves this dish it basically a plate of sugar in various forms… but boy what a plate of sugar it was. The puff candy meringue was light and delicate, the honeycomb was crunchy and sweet and the butterscotch sauce was thick and creamy. This dessert is as good as desserts get. It was a stunning gift from the sugar gods! All in all a pretty exceptional meal and up there with the best I have eaten in Glasgow without question. This is a must try restaurant for me and I will definitely visit again very soon.

The Sister’s is my go-to restaurant for a special occasion with family and friends; this visit was no exception as it was mine and Kris B.‘s anniversary so we paid the Kelvingrove restaurant a visit :) We booked in for the pre-theatre menu(£17.95 for 3 course plus a complimentary glass of wine), which has the best choice for a pre-theatre menu I’ve seen for a long while. There’s a great mixture of meats, fish and veggie dishes to cater to all tastes. I opted for the chicken liver pâté, the fish of the day(cod fillet with chorizo, new potatoes, garlic butter and broccoli) and their signature dessert: puff candy meringue with honeycomb ice-cream, cinder toffee and warm toffee sauce. Kris tried the deep-fried goats cheese with a tomato dressing and leafy salad, pork chop in gravy with black pudding, chive mash and braised red cabbage and opted for the puff candy pudding too. All I can say is we were treated to some gorgeous food; tasty and obviously great fresh produce. So much thought and effort is obviously put into each dish. From homemade oatcakes with my starter, to the tomato dressing on Kris’, the attention to detail is fantastic. The highlight for me was my fish of the day. The cod was perfect and the accompanying chorizo appeared homemade. The smells alone from the dish were amazing; the perfect mixture of fish, spicy meat and garlic and it reminded me of holidaying in Spain(random I know!) The service is also first class; our server was attentive and made sure we were happy and kept re-filled on our drinks, kept us right with the specials and was excessively polite and chatty. Overall the Sisters’ once again gave us a lovely celebratory meal and proved that good food is accessible to all without a massive price tag!

In my opinion the best restaurant in Glasgow. Deserves a Michelin Star. The food is absolutely stellar, had the best beef of my life there and possibly the best salmon ever. Very friendly staff, great service. Must go place. The set menu provides great value for money.

Great restaurant with some of the loveliest staff, especially Chef Jacqueline! I opted for homemade chicken liver pâté with oatcakes and pear relish to start. The pâté was just beautifully smooth and tasted great. For main course, I went with pork which was deliciously tender and moist. It didn’t come with crackling, but was thrilled when the waitress said she would add some in(it was on with another pork dish on the menu that night). This made me very happy! The dessert was one of the best I have had in some time — a beautifully presented little jar with strawberry jelly, creamy rice pudding and strawberry mousse. I will definitely be back at The Sisters. A lovely intimate atmosphere with a great selection on the menu, and food cooked to its best!

I was looking for a restaurant to take a large group of people in Glasgow for a training event at the University and on a family recommendation decided to go to The Sisters Kelvingrove. So last night nearly 40 of us descended for dinner and we all left with nothing but praise for our dining experience. I’d investigated a few different restaurants before choosing and was impressed that The Sisters was the only one to offer us choice from their full Summer menu, rather than a reduced number of options. All of the food was beautifully presented, fresh and delicious and when hosting a so many people from out of town it was great to allow them to experience Scottish food at its best. The desserts were particularly good, I’d go back again just for the puff candy meringue… Staff were also super friendly and efficient, both leading up to the event and on the night. Food was served quickly and wine and water glasses were rarely empty. I was also so surprised by how reasonable our bill was that I actually checked that we hadn’t been undercharged(a surprising reaction when presented with a £1100 bill!) It worked out as £30 a head for 3 courses with(plenty of) wine which I thought was excellent given the quality of food. Based on last night’s experience I really can’t recommend the restaurant highly enough, especially if you need to cater to a large group. The Sisters will now definitely be my first thought when deciding where to take guests, both friends or for work.

The Sisters is some the best Scottish cuisine at an unbeatable price. You can always find a special offer on their website and I can not express how amazing your value for money is. Local Scottish ingredients and modern twists on traditional recipes make The Sisters the place to eat in Glasgow. You’ll want to save room for the Puff Candy Sundae – trust me!

The Sisters was the venue of choice this year for Frunet Christmas dinner. The restaurant itself is quite small but perfectly capable of accommodating our large group plus several other smaller tables. I didn’t partake of beveraging on this occassion though I have it on authority that the Rioja was very nice. I did, of course, partake of the food… delicious! First of all, I love a restaurant that brings rolls whilst you wait for your food. I think this should happen everywhere. Extra marks if they’re freshly baked and still warm(sadly they were not on this occassion). I started with a smoked haddock risotto with a poached egg on top(so kedgeree essentially!). Very tasty, nice sized portion for a starter. I followed this with the roast ham, accompanied by cabbage, fondant potato and assorted veg. My dessert was an apple and pear tart which was also delicious. I did have a bit of food jealousy at this point as some of the boys had ordered a honeycomb meringue thing which I kind of wanted to steal — looked divine. Overall, I’d definitely like to go back here, seemed like a place my mum would love! One last tip for the ladies(and maybe the men, can’t comment) — the toilets were freeeezing!

Excellent food. My partner and I went there several times, and the quality has been increasing. The service is very good, the interior is classy, and the offer of 3 course meals for 12 pounds is a bargain.

This is the second time I have graced this restaurant, in as many years. I have to say, the food and service is excellent. The food is pretty much on a local Scottish theme and presented and cooked beautifully. The staff are very friendly and efficient, and even the chef mucks in with the waitress role when busy. The décor of the place is lovely and modern, but not overbearing and pretentious. You are greeted with a smile, and asked if you would like them to take your coat and hang it up. You can have a choice of A la carte or a set priced menu, and have your wine topped up for you as you eat this delicious food(if you have a bottle purchased and on your table). I have nothing to really grumble about this place, apart from two things. The 1st time I came here, it was relatively quiet and the mood was chilled. Tonight it’s full — some sort of 40th celebration — and the place is pretty small, so you cannot ‘escape’ the chitter chatter if you want to chill. Secondly, because of the room size and on this occasion, the summer and the volume of people, the temperature is pretty warm and a nice bit of air conditioning wouldn’t go amiss. Apart from that — perfect. Highly recommended :)

Decided to try out another one of Glasgow’s finer dining restaurants one weekday lunchtime and was disappointed to find that they only had the regular full priced menu and not the cheaper lunch deal as advertised on their website. This perhaps explained why the place was completely dead. Still it was a good opportunity to try the best dishes they had on offer, which were nice, but for a £15-a-head two course lunch, were not outstanding.

You’d be better off going to the jordanhill sisters restaurant. we found this one a little sterile and pretentious which is the total opposite of jordanhill. we also enjoyed the food more at j/hill though kelvingrove was very tasty too.3 stars for kelvingrove and 4 maybe 5 for jordanhill

Fantastic food here. Starter of fish cakes so tasty I could have had another two for my main. Main was the fish of the day — sea bream on a bed of cabbage and white sauce. Pre theatre was 12.95 for 2 courses or 14.95 for 3 courses, so of course I had to pay the extra 2 quid for a dessert. Raspberry cheesecake — mmmmm. I cleared the plate although I’m not normally a pudding person! I’d thoroughly recommend The Sisters for their fabulous food. I’d ask for a window table if you want privacy for 2 though. We felt we were sitting side by side with other couples an that kind of inhibited converstaion!

Great food, although slightly awkward to find(you enter through the car park) menu is top notch with the best shellfish in town. Not the cheapest, but then you get what you pay for etc etc. service excellent.
