It’s Yo Sushi. I’ve been dozens of times. It’s never the best quality, but it’s always enough to satisfy my sushi cravings and it’s usually super convenient. I still love the carousel of sushi and other assorted dishes. And if something isn’t there they are quite happy and prompt to make it up for you. If you get the basic, cheep sushi like some avocado or cucumber maki then the price is really reasonable. But if you start ordering their more interesting sushi or curries then the price really starts adding up. We tend to not go for aaaages then one afternoon have a sushi binge: P Which may be why I feel it’s a tad pricey. I never have any problems with the food, the staff are hit or miss, and it’s usually quite busy. But over all it suits it’s purpose and I’ve been very thankful for it at times!

This is easily my fav yo sushi, plenty of room, more booth selection than others in Glasgow Food is as you expect from a chain, tastes the same as any other yo sushi The team are friendly and helpful if not a little understaffed at times Go here about 3 – 4 times a month, having a larger appetite the blue Monday’s offer a decent saving on an expensive lunch/dinner Anyway that’s all I have to say… Have to get dressed I’m going here in an hour

I did consider a 5-star review, I really enjoyed my eating experience here, and if it had been more enclosed with some background music and you forgot you were plonked in the middle of a shopping centre I might have bumped it up. This was my first visit to a Yo Sushi, I always felt a bit put off my the conveyor belt idea. In the end we were able to order our food from the server like you would in most other places. I was there to host a vegan meetup and I’d gotten there first, and spent a few minutes checking the vegan options online and circling the vegan options on the paper menu/placemat. I figured this would make it easier for the other guests. I kept hearing some kind of electronic voice… I don’t if it was to grab the attention of a staff member as it disappeared a bit later, and it’s probably not the sort of place people sit alone to wait for people coming from afar! Also, my arm bumped into dishes as they passed by on the belt. Again, maybe not a usual place where six grown adults will eat together. :s We chose there as instead of selected dishes being reduced to £2.70 only on a selected one(or is it two now?) weekday they were now offering this ‘Blue Plate’ discount deal Mon-Fri. It was also advertised on the ‘Veganuary’ website(the Go Vegan for January campaign), that’s had to be a good sign! Free refills on the green tea appealed, and when everyone else arrived(six people just fit neatly to a booth!) I pressed the red button on the table to call the server and we ordered drinks and food. We were also offered their vegan menu. Duh to me! I didn’t realise they’d have this!(I think they also have a separate gluten free one, too). It was £2.70 for three inari sushi pockets(a blue plate) which is the best value I’ve seen for this dish, one of my favourites! £1.90 for the cucumber maki(green plate), and £2.70 for the vegetable yakisoba — I think this one is usually a little more expensive, an orange plate. All in for the three dishes and the green teas it was £9, which I thought was really good. We also got given two cards each with an offer of ‘buy two blue plates get one free’ which we can use before Jan 29th, in any branch. Unlike their other Glasgow branches in Braehead and the city centre, they don’t have the tofu katsu curry or the pumpkin katsu curry because they only have one fryer and they use that for frying meat products. Aha! That’s definitely worth a drop in rating. I need to visit another branch and see if I find that one 5-star worthy.

Ventured here for the first time since going vegan and loved it. Thought I would struggle with not being able to eat my old favourites, but that wasn’t the case at all. Usually frequent the Glasgow City Centre branch, but was in Silverburn with a friend. Ordered the vegetable gyozas and vegetable firecracker rice straight away. The gyozas are boiled now instead of fried, still so tasty. Firecracker rice was plentiful but always think it could do with more of a kick, will have to start asking them to turn up the heat a little. From the belt I went for the edamame beans with rock salt and spring onion. Love this dish so much, simple but tasty. Had a portion of the cucumber maki which was also lovely. The cucumber was super fresh and crunchy. Tried the sauteed aubergine dish for the first time and was surprised how good it was. Lovely hints of ginger and sesame in there. We had some dishes sent to us by accident, but apart from that the service was good. Nothing out of this world, but pleasant enough. Now that there’s a Cineworld in Silverburn, you can claim your 25% off the bill if you show your Cineworld card. Sweeeeeeet! Sunday — Thursday only, but such a good perk. The bill came to around £26 for three of us(including one kid) which I think is pretty decent. Their allergen menu is clearly marked, which made it easy for me to work out what I could have. Just looked at this online before I went and took a note of vegan-friendly dishes.

As far as smudge is concerned this should be a 5 star review on the simple basis of the conveyor belt. Since it was me that had to pay for all the sushi that the wee shit kept grabbing off said conveyor belt I’m dishing out the stars. I love sushi and we had some really tasty things here, afraid that I’ve no idea what we were eating smudge was pulling them off the conveyor belt far too fast to identify things. But I just don’t like sitting in the middle of a shopping centre to eat. In fairness you don’t come here expecting a quiet intimate meal but it still makes me feel that our meal was over priced. The staff were lacklustre and a bit meh and I wouldn’t look too closely at the conveyor belt, it is in serious need of a clean. I also really really object to being charged £1.20 for tap water. Smudge had a really good time and we enjoyed lots of lovely sushi. But, I don’t think it was particularly good value and I wouldn’t be rushing back.

I really want to love Yo Sushi 5-stars worth. I love the idea, the branding and I feel like it should be a really fun experience. But this Yo Sushi seems to be a little flat. I hadn’t been back since my last review but after a morning of reading Unilocal-sushi reviews, I needed some sushi in my face. I ordered three dishes(and miso): chicken katsu curry, oiishi salmon bun and dragon rolls. I hate it when I order food from the menu and they give me the conveyor belt food — I’d prefer it was made fresh. The dragon rolls were kind of meh to be honest — especially compared to the ones at Pickled Ginger last week. The katsu curry was pretty much a bowl of curry sauce over rice with the chicken on top. Way too much curry sauce as well, so the all the rice tasted like curry sauce whereas I prefer it separate. Finally, the oiishi bun was pretty good and I’d get these again. What I really wanted to try was the Japple special they have on just now — hot apple and vanilla gyozas, with black sesame ice cream in a crisp waffle cone, topped off with raspberry crumble and served with salted miso caramel sauce. It sounds EPIC. So all up — I do quite like the food here, it is just a bit hit-or-miss sometimes. For £13 it wasn’t a bad lunch. Note: they now charge for water. WATER. The taps at your table! That is just madness. You have to pay £1.20 for still/sparkling and it is unlimited. But still, paying for water from a tap, how many people actually do that?!

I love sushi. So straight away, anywhere that specialises in the little rice packages of awesome is a good ‘un in my book. I don’t venture to Silverburn very often — living out of the city centre with a car means it’s just WAY too much of a faff to get there unless I’m heading there with someone who has a car(thanks Gordon M!). After a Sunday wander(read stress-fest) in IKEA, we decided to pop in here for a wee bit of lunch before meandering back home. While this isn’t the best sushi I’ve ever tasted, it’s nice to know that whatever you have will be the same, no matter which franchise you pop into — sometimes it’s just nice to know what you’re going to be getting, particularly when dishes from here can easily mount up to a hefty bill if you’re not careful. I tried the inari pockets for the first time here, which were lovely — and the staff were attentive and friendly, even if the card machine wasn’t working(meaning the customer next to us left after his meal to go to the cash machine — and likely never returned!) The only downside to this restaurant is there aren’t many booths due to it being smack bang in the middle of a shopping centre. And that it’s smack bang in the middle of the shopping centre: everyone can and does watch you munch away while they’re doing their shopping. I’m a bit funny about that kind of thing… though that’s probably just me.

I have to admit, I do love Yo! There are all my favourite classics which luckily seem to stay on the menu each time they update it — prawn & chive maki being my ultimate favourite. I love that they have seasonal updates to with various specials from time to time. I really like the new salmon yuzu. It can get pretty pricey so we only go when we have a voucher or for Blue Mondays. I love being able to just go somewhere hungry and start eating straight away! The only thing I don’t like is being charged for what is essentially tap water just because the tap’s on my table.

I love sushi. I’m still a recent convert and continue to thank my partner for my first steps into this wonderful world of deliciousness and as Yo Sushi was my first experience I continue to hold a soft spot. Is it the best sushi I’ve ever eaten, no. Is it consistent and tasty, yes! The moving conveyer belt idea is a bit of a gimmick for sure, but part of me likes the fact that I get to choose which dish to lift. If you prefer more avocado in your Yo! Roll then ignore the first two that circle past and grab that next one with the big hunk of tasty green in the middle! There are some differences between this outlet and the one in the city centre but the gap is slowly closing(both now serve the heavenly beef with garlic and teriyaki, a hot dish that I’ve probably eaten too many of…). Sitting in the middle of a shopping centre is an odd place admittedly but for me, if I want a quick bite and don’t want to wait for ages, it’s perfect. Healthy too! Don’t be put off if you aren’t a raw fish fan either, they have plenty of cooked dishes and the staff are more than happy to make suggestions and show you the ropes. I’d talk about the dishes themselves, but as their is such a wide choice and I tend to chop and change it’s not easy. As usual I had some sushi, a handwrap and a couple of heated dishes(the pumpkin korroke is always good!). If you see something on the menu that isn’t spinning round the belt they’ll make it up fresh for you and don’t forget about some Miso soup as well! Only downside for me is the price, but if you are careful about what you choose(the plates are coloured coded by price) you can eat well for under £20. There are other sushi places in the Glasgow now(the wonderful Cailins even deliveries in my neck of the woods) but for convenience, Yo Sushi is a good option.

Food on a moving conveyer belt? A recipe for eating to much? Maybe so. I normally eat takeaway from Yo and have only sat in a handful of times, this is really just down to being scared if eating everything! As this was Austen M’s first time we would go all out! It was blue Monday so all dishes were £2.50. We ordered the salmon firecracker rice, Katsu chicken curry, chilli Squid, duck parcels and some sort of beef thing(sorry for the lack of names) all small portions but means you can get more dishes! Whooho! All you can drink fizzy or still water with little taps at your table! We didn’t take anything off the belt as it was late at night and best to order fresh! If you haven’t been to Yo then I would highly recommend you do soon.

Review 100! It is sort of fitting that this place is my hundredth review as it feels like Trudie has been asking me to go to Yo Sushi for a hundred years! So this is my first visit to the strange world of food on moving on conveyer belts. We went on a Monday and they do a special deal of £2.50 per plate from a selection of 50. So to start off it was good value at that price. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The food was a mixed bag of lovely and ok. We shared 5 dishes. Firecracker chicken and spicy squid were amazing. Katsu curry was nice. The duck parcels(I forget the real name and the beef something(mini sausages on sticks in sauce) were average. Portion size all were fine for 2.50, but not convinced I would be happy paying 4 plus quid for them. The restaurant itself was just a bit grubby IMO and I was not sure how I felt about the same food going round and round. How long has it been there and who had touched it before me?(Or is that just me, I’m not a big fan buffets either) I have to say I ain’t convinced by the whole experience. I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. It was ok and I will go back, but it won’t be top of the list. So 3 stars for sushi in a shopping centre.

Food generally very good, as is the service. The bottom line, however, is that you are surrounded by great and good of Glasgow doing their shopping, with all that entails.

This is a much smaller branch of Yo Sushi than the one in the city centre but the food is still pretty delicious, if a little expensive. Quick tip: if you join the Yo Sushi mailing list then they often send you promotion vouchers, last month if you printed off your e-mail with your unique promotion code then you got 40% off everything on the belt. You can’t say fairer than that! I joined the mailing list last August and have since had two of these promotions sent straight to my inbox so it’s definitely worth signing up! In a way Yo Sushi is a little bit gimmicky but the food is very good and when you’re getting 40% off I really can’t complain. My favourite thing off the belt has to be the Dorayaki, which are special Japanese pancakes wrapped around a sweet custard like filling with tart raspberry sauce, I was whipping them off the conveyer belt like they were going out of fashion. They taste so good that I even bought some from the take away section to feast on when I got home. Mmm… I can also recommend the squiggly squid sushi and the seaweed salad, delish!

Yo! Sushi is, despite being a chain, one of the better sushi bars I’ve been to in the UK. Unlike most places in Glasgow, it’s true sushi-bar style, with different coloured plates to denote prices. They have a good selection of nigiri sushi, sushi rolls, and warm noodle and rice dishes with nothing too artsy-fartsy or overly experimental. Despite being an uncovered spot located slap bang in the middle of Silverburn shopping centre, the strange layout seems to work. It has a restaurant feel rather than fast-food, and is a good place to sit down and take your time to eat and have a natter. Finally, a great sushi bar for sushi lovers in Glasgow. Hooray!

Before Yo! opened their latest restaurant on Buchanan Street, this one smack-bang in the middle of Silverburn shopping centre(quite literally) was where many sushi fans flocked. It follows the same principles as all the Yo! Sushi places with a conveyor belt of dishes which you can view and pick from and also a menu for hot dishes. The wee bowls are colour-coded for prices. You can end up spending a fortune here and so it seems more suited to a restaurant like that on Buchanan Street rather than open-plan in a shopping centre but it somehow works and fits in well with Silverburn as a whole. Great if you want to grab a healthy treat while shopping and a little less intimidating for sushi first-timers. My brother loves sushi and can’t speak highly enough of this place so that’s good enough for me.

Went to Glasgow almost completely because I wanted to go to Yo Sushi(wish there was one in Edinburgh!) We went on a Monday so we could take advantage of their Blue Mondays offer where everything on the belt is the blue price of £2.20. The staff were very friendly and got us a booth type of table with comfy seats. The offer was good but it still worked out quite expensive. However it’s great being able to have water from the little tap and seeing what there is before you commit yourself to paying for it. My boyfriend doesn’t like fish so ate some Peking duck rolls, cucumber ones, edame beans etc and I ate some prawn nigiri, salmon nigiri and a warm thing in breadcrumbs with a fruity sauce(looked in the menu and it was pumpkin! It was similar to a fishcake) Overall it’s a good place to go for sushi but is expensive for what you get even with this offer.

Ok so the conveyor belt and the strange noises to call for service and the multi-coloured plates — all very gimmicky. But you can’t deny that it’s fun! And it can be a bit expensive if you’re not careful, but if you sign up for the newsletter it sends out some amazing offers!

For the best value for money order miso soup — about £1.20 for unlimited refills(ditto water). You’ll save a lot of money in comparison to ordering bottled drinks. The sushi is timed after preparation so you can be sure that everything is fresh. You can also order whatever you fancy on the menu but can’t see on the belt. If you decide the venture to Yo! Sushi be aware of how many plates you pick up — they mount up!
