Tried this place tonight for dinner and was not disappointed! Seems like we were lucky to get a table since when we walked in, the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. So, you may want to make one if it’s a weekend. There’s outdoor seating but we got sat inside. I sort of wish we were sat outside because the inside was a little toasty but I think because we had walked around town before that we just needed to cool down. They brought some bread before dinner and then our main courses came out. I went with the lamb shoulder with minted pea mash & a wine sauce(also came with veggies & potatoes). It was soooo good! I would easily get that again. Hubs had the steak frites, which he really liked as well. Of course, we left room for dessert but I made the mistake of trying to order my dessert without having the menu in front of me. A few miscommunications led me to getting the wrong dessert(which I ate anyway and it was delicious) and when the waiter found out, he actually ended up bringing me a smaller version of the dessert I actually wanted! How awesome is that?! He didn’t have to do that but he did and we will definitely be going back for the hospitality alone. Not to mention that he chatted with us for a few minutes despite being pretty busy because we’re new to the country and are still learning our way around town.

I was visiting Harrogate recently and went to Le Bistrot Pierre one night because I had heard they had an excellent gluten-free menu. I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was wonderful, the service attentive and friendly, and the food was FABULOUS! I had gluten-free bread with roasted garlic, fried calamari(something I almost never get to eat any more), and chicken breast with a lemon and wine sauce, pancetta, and green onions. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! This restaurant made a huge effort to develop an extensive gluten-free menu with the local Celiac organization, and it definitely paid off. If you are in Harrogate, you must try Le Bistrot Pierre!

Set on the first floor above a Thai restaurant is Harrogate’s branch of Bistro Pierre. The whole restaurant is set on one level and from the sizeable bar, to the prints and mirrors that adorn the walls, the whole restaurant has a classy comfortable feel, a perfect romantic venue. Tables to suit all sizes of party, with enough space between them so that you don’t feel hemmed in, with friendly, helpful staff. All in all, a great combination. We prefer to dine on the early side, so we chose their pre-theatre menu for £14.95 apiece for two courses, less choice than the main menu, but still enough variety. We shared a roasted garlic bulb to start, with fresh bread, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. A great start, flavoursome, but not a huge dish, but enough to share for a starter. Mains wise, I always struggle to make a choice other than the steak, Bistro Pierre do great steaks! I had the steak fritte, with fries and a dressed salad, fantastic; the peppercorn sauce complimented it perfectly, as did the mushrooms I had as a side order. My wife had the beef bourguignon, with the vegetable accompaniments of broccoli, green beans and red cabbage, with potato gratin. A huge portion, full of flavour; too often beef bourguignon can be on the salty side, this was just right. After the mammoth mains we had, we opted to choose for the lighter options for dessert, my wife went for the lemon tart, with caramelised sugar adornment and raspberry sorbet. I struggled as always with my choice, but ultimately went for the Gâteau au Miel, a sticky honey pudding with double ginger ice cream, fantastically light and the ginger ice cream cut through the sweetness of the honey perfectly. A wonderful meal, in perfect surroundings, not bad for our first night in Harrogate!

My daughter and I had lunch here today. It’s a charming restaurant with a good atmosphere and good service from friendly staff. The lunch menu is excellent value for money — 3 courses for £13. We chose different starters, mains and desserts and both of us really enjoyed the food, especially the crème brûlée which was scrumptious. To be recommended.
