Never been in her before, even with the amount of times I have been through Gatwick airport, and I won’t be back. The service was ok the staff at the bar where you order were polite, as you would expect, but the place has the look of a wetherspoons but does not meet their standards. The food was delivered quickly, a little too quickly, as my eggs Royale struck me as Loki g a bit sad and made me wonder how long this particular plate had been sat under heat lamps. One egg still had a bit of yolk the other was dried up, I would suggest from the time it spent under afire mentioned heat lamp. Whilst I’m all for quick turn around of food when you are at an airport please let’s at least cook it to order not cool and hope someone wants it eventually. Unfortunately the server asked me if my food was alright before I had tucked in properly to my lightly toasted toad and soft boiled eggs! There are many other eateries at Gatwick south this was a day when I thought I’d try somewhere I’ve not eaten before. Not my best plan especially when the next 3 hours will be spent on a flight which sells its food to you.

With time to kill at Gatwick airport we popped to the Whetherspoons in the departure lounge for a quick bite to eat. It’s pricier than a normal whetherspoons, as you’d expect at an airport, but there was less choice and the quality was really lacking. I know it’s no gourmet burger or top notch restaurant but the bun was soggy, the BBQ sauce was flooding the plate and it didn’t taste great. I wish I’d gone for just a bowl of chips as they were pretty good and the bowls looked huge from what I saw on other tables.

This is, without any doubt, the worst Whetherspoon in UK. Reheated fries, poor food, one of the worst fish & chips ever. At least they are friendly, more or less.

Hahahahahahahahahahaahahaha *breath* Hahahahaha. I’ve not flown in years and when I was greeted by a spoons in the airport I was overjoyed. I was sorely tempted to steal the plates they were serving breakfast on, they were beautiful! If this is what all spoons were like(apart from the lack of non-alcoholic beer) in all of London, they’d be a lot more popular. Clean, fast service and a great place to start your holiday with a cheeky malibu and coke.

Haha, what’s more unlikely at 4am than a flying pig? A flying horse of course I’ve flown out of Gatwick South terminal several times recently. Impressively, the restaurants are open, even at that bleak early hour of the morning Besides McDonalds, the other restaurants seem to have set up a cartel with the cooked breakfasts suspiciously all costing exactly the same. The only place to break ranks is the Flying Horse The Flying Horse is a pub, which means that you can have a breakfast beer and yes, I did see people drinking beer here at 5am. I however stuck to freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice to see an orange squeezing machine in a pub After seating yourself, food and drink is ordered at the bar. They guarantee to deliver the food in ten minutes, which is impressive for cooked to order food My sister ordered the eggs royale, which is egg Benedict but with smoked salmon instead of ham. The poached egg was perfect, reflecting impressive attention to detail My American breakfast was a nice mixture of savoury elements and pancakes. The only slight disappointment was the lack of real maple syrup Recommended for breakfast if you’re flying out of Gatwick South

The Flying Horse is a bit of a mixed bag. The good points are the quick(perhaps a bit too quick.) service, large seating area and the excellent beer. The latter is worth emphasising — Gatwick Airport is the last place I’d expect to enjoy a pint of mellow, fruity real ale for £2.99, yet thanks to the Flying Horse, that’s exactly what I was able to do! The not-so-great points are the price and quality of the food. To be fair, the prices are not outrageous, just slightly higher than your standard Wetherspoons and with no deals(e.g. beer and burger) to help you out. But the quality ain’t great. The warning of what I could expect was there when I was told that my chicken burger would be ready in just 5 minutes, rather than a time(say 15 – 20 minutes) during which I could at least kid myself that they’d be cooking it from fresh. When it did arrive, it was lukewarm: time considerations meant I had to grimace my way through rather than send back. Still, the taste of that excellent pint lingered
