Fish Friday done slightly different. Unagi and salmon sashimi at Kulu Kulu. I’m not a fan of something like Yo Sushi, but this other conveyor belt sushi place is decent and has a good variety of sushi. I’ve been to the one in Soho and this is similar look and feel. Overall you can’t go wrong with the sushi here. I doubt it is the freshest/best. But for the price it’s good and has a good fun atmosphere once inside.

Note that this place is a self-serve place, and sadly the staff did not explain anything including where to get tea/water or that there are items on a menu available to order. The servers also did not understand what gyoza were despite it being on the menu and there being signs for it in the restaurant. The food was not cheap. It was edible but not exactly tasty. There was also a very small variety of dishes considering the number of ingredients available. I would definitely not recommend this place.

Yum yum. A fantastic, quick, affordable and most importantly tasty sushi joint. Not so cheap you worry about quality, just affordable enough. I find this an excellent stop before a visit to the museums or the Royal Albert Hall. It somehow manages not to feel overly tourist trap like amongst all the many tourists, which I also really appreciate.

Iam a Japanese student, this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been in London, very good value, also free unlimited green tea, sushi rice is good taste, as Japan. Highly recommend to Japanese students who lives in London.

I like it a lot. I’m an international airline pilot who stays overnight near here. I usually go here exclusively. I love the relaxed vibe. People just talking. Rolls are big and they have good tea. Always friendly, always a great place when you just need relaxing and some good sushi. Nothing«up town» about it but that suits me just fine.

This is one of those conveyor belt sushi places. Décor is a little tired and worn but functional. The chefs are good at keeping the belt full and putting different things on in rotation. Sushi itself is OK. Not the best or freshest I’ve ever had, and not the worst. The salmon sashimi was however, still partially frozen. Can’t really comment on the service otherwise, as you don’t really have a lot in one of these types of restaurants.

A shame to see such a low score for this place because of one guy who apparently just dislikes conveyor belt sushi. Or maybe things have changed over the last four years? Went there with a group of seven this weekend, including three kids. There wasn’t space at the bar but they gave us the entire room downstairs. Friendly and helpful staff. Without asking, they brought a few«child chopsticks»(tied together at the top) which saved us some grumpy faces. The food was good. If I want top-notch sushi I’ll go to Japan, while at home Kulu Kulu Sushi will be just fine. Liked the noodle soup as well. And for freshness: Of course I didn’t keep track of how long things stuck around on the belt, but with the place being pretty much packed and the guys being busy making new stuff whenever I was upstairs, I’m not too worried.

For what you paid is excellent compared with others sushi places. Good for food but the ambient isold. Is th reason why I’m giving only 4 stars instead 5. Avoid peak hours, very small place. A restaurant to repeat.

Excellent value for money, this kulu kulu features a shorter belt than its soho sibling, but a better variety of sushi. Umm. That’s it.

As read on their website, they serve basic standard sushi with no frills which is reflected in the price. You get what you expect and what was advertised with no surprises.

I’ve been to this place twice now and I can say that I’ve been very satisfied each time. Although this place is a bit pricey, the rolls for the most part are worth the money. I’m not sure what bon t. is talking about in terms of sashimi freshness but both times that I’ve been, I’ve had some of the best salmon and tuna ever at a Japanese restaurant. I would avoid the cheapest plates other than the salmon nigri sushi as they have some filler sushis such as canned tuna fish. Complimentary green tea and although the waitress is a bit lukewarm but the sushi chef is very helpful and will make just about anything you want. I absolutely love sushi and this place is a must for anyone who is in the South Kensington area. If you do come here, make sure to get the soft shell crab hand roll. Yes, it costs a bit, but it is absolutely delightful!

Good sushi, and the soft shell crab and smoked fish are delicious. Occasionally a plate of gyoza comes out too. Reasonably priced.

Décor — What’s there to say about a sushi bar with minimal decoration and a belt with sushi rotating on it for god knows how long? Oh, I don’t like to be crammed at those bar seats with other people, there were no one at the tables, they won’t let me sit at the tables, not a happy start. Rice — I had never had sushi rice more gross. I know sushi rice is not supposed to be cold, but they made it when it was so warm and crammed it together so tightly that it really does feel like what I’m eating is what you spent the past 5 minute squeezing in your sweaty hands. Sashimi — If it’s not fresh, and so small, and so expensive, why don’t they just give it up and stop serving it! Surely they don’t have to always serve scallops if this planet is so low on them that they could only give me a piece the size(and thickness) of a pound coin. Service — Of course it’s great, they smile and nod and walk away and ignore you, until you get the bill. Or even better, the lady likes to listen to what you ordered and give you something else, then refuse to change the order or the price. Oh and they don’t accept cards unless you spend over 10 pounds, but no worries you’ll definitely try enough plates until you realize it really is as bad as you think it is and have to get up.

Good fresh sushi! and generous portions too, with each nigri having a massive slice of fish that completely covers the rice underneath! They also do amazing californian handrolls, and the prices are very reasonable. If only Kulu Kulu expanded all over London, they would drive Yo Sushi out of business!

A good sushi place, sit around a counter with revolving belt. The green tea is free and you serve it yourselves. The chef will carve up anything you ask him/her. Recommend the soft shell crab handrolls with avocado. Bit pricey though meal cost around £10−15 each time.
