As an Indian, I am reluctant to go out and eat Indian food in restaurants because I can get get miles better at home. So when my friend took me here I did not really have a positive mindset. How wrong I was, this is one of the few places that actually spice their foods and it’s well balanced. The food is not too oily and unless the dish is specifically supposed to be so, not overpowered by salt or chilli. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and with that don’t match how good the dishes are. This place is goof for vegetarians and carnivores alike — you don’t miss the meat when the food tastes so good.

I am going against the trend here only giving 3 stars but I went, I enjoyed it, but I haven’t actually been back so something must have been missing. I will try it again because it is nice little spot so who knows this review may need to be updated soon. It is in theory good for groups with the big long tables but then again it is often rammed so maybe not.

Great vegetarian/Indian street food. Im a big meat eater so the idea of a full veg meal put me off at first, but the food is fresh, delicious, filling(usually get 2 – 3 dishes), and great in value. I’d recommend to anyone, vegetarian or not. Also, a wide selection of craft beers on tap and craft gin/vodkas and cocktails. The restaurant itself is also very cool, urban/Indian décor on the inside.

Yes, yes and yes. Bundobust does beer, food and ambiance right, not too pretentious and with an owner who actually frequents his own establishment! A friend and I stopped by and ended up tasting all the beers — both still being indecisive we went for a flight of 1/3rds each. The mixed but and pea selection was great, if a little salty, but the bhel puri was spot on and went well with the coriander beer(and darker beers as well). Hell, it all works well! Good price, not too busy, very central — what else could you want? Oh, great people? They’ve got a bunch of them as well. Go. Go now. Go again. Keep going back, and hope one opens a bit closer to London!

Disappointed that I haven’t had chance to eat here yet, too busy First two times, second two, too late for the kitchen that shuts at 9:30 … The staff seemed a little«aloof» … I hope to be able to give a glowing review when I get the chance to sample it’s delights. As a bar it’s great, interesting beers and all a bit different

Went here with fellow Unilocaler and good friend Josh and another friend of ours on a Friday evening. Bundobust is quite different to most eating places that I’ve been to in the UK in the sense that it is not a full fledged curry house, neither is it a fast food joint. This a very typical Indian street food restaurant where the dishes seemed pretty Bombay inspired in their preparation and presentation. The food tasted great and the portions were sized and priced such that you could try a few things before you felt you’d had enough without spending too much. It’s located quite close to the train station and is definitely worth a visit. I will be going there next time I visit Leeds.

You can’t really give less than five stars to such an amazing indie spot like this. I mean, I’d been waiting forever for these guys to settle in – I tried them at the Leeds Beer Fest maybe two years ago and had been hanging on since then.(We tried the coriander beer — it was incroyable.) They also made several appearances at street food happenings around town, so there was plenty of buzz before they finally opened. What’s even more crazy is that I’ve still not set foot inside the place. Don’t worry, I’m fully qualified to write this review: My friend brought over the most amazing selection of goodies from here when I was poorly, so I’ve indulged greatly. It’s a bit difficult to describe quite what we had, since they were all little pots of magic, but I’ll do my best. There were rice dumplings, which came in a spicy, zesty sauce. Another kind of dumpling — I think potato — which will forever now be the best comfort food I could direct you towards. The little pots of curry were bursting with flavour and my favourite was this pot of crispy, flaky, fried stuff(like crispy wonton parcels, but Indian style) with a red sauce.(Forgive me for not knowing the names — I’m sure if you ask, they’d know!) Basically, everything that she brought around to my flat was delicious. You’ll discover taste buds you didn’t know you had. The spice level can be reasonably heated with some of the dishes, but I’d say risk it – and that’s coming from a former spice wuss. It was nothing I couldn’t handle(even recovering from throat surgery) and it only added to the flavour sensation. You simply have to go along and give them a go!

There aren’t enough bars around that can offer such a niche and enjoyable experience as Bundobust. I’m glad to have been introduced to this place by a local and look forward to visiting it again the next time I’m in Leeds. Bundobust is very close to the railway station and offers a unique mix of Indian style street food and craft beer. If you are a fan of both or either then you won’t want to miss this place. They have an outdoor seating area located within the building in a kind of atrium space and very close to the bar, which is remarkably cosy even in the colder months, it’s quite cool that it’s not stuck out on the footpath or in a rear back alley like most places. The food is tasty, inexpensive and remarkably authentic. It leaves you wanting more which is fine as nothing on the menu breaks the bank. The Bundo Chaat is a recommendation. My only hope is they don’t rest on their laurels too much, it would be great to see them change up the menu on occasion as Indian street food varies greatly across the immense country and it would be fun to try specialities from all the regions(pani puri would be something I think would go well with a beer for example)

I’ve been to bundobust twice now and still can’t get over how great it is. There are so many good things I have to say about this place that it’s hard to know where to begin, but I’ll give it a go. It looks rather tiny from the outside and that might put you off if it seems busy but venture in and you’ll realise there is an abundance of space– they’ve done really well at utilising the space they have a there’s plenty of room. You might have to share benches with other parties but why not? This is Indian street food– get into the spirit of things! For both of my visits a friend and I ordered six or seven dishes and shared everything– which I would definitely recommend doing because it’s ALLSODELICIOUS! Also this only cost about £30 including drinks and we were stuffed both times so that’s pretty good going. I’ve had pretty much everything on the(small but perfectly formed) menu now and I cannot pick a favourite– though the okra fries are an absolute must! They also have a great range of craft beers including a limited edition mikeller x brew dog offering which is so tasty!

I’m quite a negative guy, things in life piss me off. But I’m struggling to find a negative for Bundobust. The beers are cracking(theres a huge selection of bottled beers), and the food is great too. Really relaxed atmos, a good place to start the night or go after work, friendly, knowledgable stafft too. 5 stars.

When I heard that legendary Bradford Indian vegetarian restaurant Prashad had opened a beer and street food bar in Leeds I was inevitably interested. And my expectations were more than lived up to. Joining the throng of quality beer bars in Leeds comes Bundobust, an unassuming but thriving bar/restaurant in Mill Hill. It’s much more informal than Prashad itself, but the food is just as good. The choice is a little limited but that doesn’t matter. There are around a dozen dishes available, and all are served in small portions so it is a little like Spanish Tapas. Between 3 greedy people we managed to order almost everything on the menu! It was all absolutely outstanding but a few dishes were in a different class. The Bel Puri, a cold dish made from puffed rice, crushed samosas and tamarind, was ridiculously tasty. The same can be said for the Massala Dosa, a curry with rice pancake. The Onion Bhajis were as good as I have ever tasted. Every dish we had was delicious. Curiously the choice of beers far exceeds the selection of food. And there are good beers on tap, other good bottled beers and you can taste before you order. All this coupled with super friendly customer service makes Bundobust a very quality but thoroughly informal and relaxed place to eat. We absolutely loved it.
