I’m ashamed to admit, that I have lived just around the corner from this place for over 10 years, and I’ve only just tried it the other night. :( All I can say is, silly me! The staff were very friendly and polite. You can see how they make and bake the pizza. This is something 9 I 9 as I’m very nosey and I like watching people making food. I decided to order the 12″ thin crust Popeye pizza. It didn’t take long for it to be ready. I took it home and it was still very hot. The pizza was very tasty and moreish. The I would definitely recommend this place to anyone

The first thing I would say is pay no attention to the pretty cheap looking logo — this actually put me off trying this place for a long time. However, after a few good reviews and me now walking past it most days(and it looks pretty good inside too!) I thought it was time to take the plunge. Prices are pretty average, delivery time was good and the delivery man was pleasant, but that’s the less important stuff, so onto the pizza! One word — lovely! I went for a slightly off the wall choice in the creamy chicken pizza, but oh how glad I am that I did! The chicken itself was good quality — the kind that you can easily pull apart so you know it’s good. The toppings were very generous, with the toppings and cheese going right to the edge of the pizza. But I was also really impressed by the creamyness of it. I’m actually not a fan of getting messy fingers whilst eating, but the cream was all over my hands pretty quickly and I didn’t care one bit! Give these guys a try — I’ll certainly be going back for round 2 soon enough.

I came to call upon Hippo’s to sate my hunger once again, having perused pizza ideas from Unilocal, and reminding myself how much I enjoyed the last one from here. This time things were a little different, as I was feeling particularly piggy, so ordered a burger and chips too, knowing I’d save the pizza mostly for the next day. Perhaps an odd method, but I’m so indecisive it’s standard for me to order more than I can handle in one sitting. The pizza arrived a touch later than last time, but the delivery chap apologised for the delay, and it was all good. The thing I love about the pizzas here is the generosity of topping: I ordered the Hippo Special, which has plenty of veg and plenty of meat, and it was slavered in goodies. The other boon is that all the toppings are of a good quality, so you can be sure the meat doesn’t have that weird plastic vibe some other places have. Downsides would be that ordering the deep pan means that the pizza can get a touch soggy in places in the box. Also, on this occasion, the dough was a little much, so I think I’ll try the thin in future. It was just a little bready, which took away from the generous topping, and meant I couldn’t taste the pizza sauce too well. As for the burger and chips, I’ve almost given up hoping for a really great delivery burger in Leeds, as this was your standard Saturday night, post booze, style affair. Standard bun, standard flat(and I’m assuming not freshly made) pattie of little flavour, with lettuce and onions etc. Really, since they’re a pizza place, I’d imagine it’s only worth ordering what they specialise in. Still, better pizza than I’ve had from most in Leeds, so I’ll no doubt order from here again!

I have been driving past this place for ages and tonight we decided to try it. This is going to be my new Pizza place. It took approximately 40 minutes for it to arrive but we’re also in the middle of a cold snap and the roads are icy and dangerous so I give 5 stars to the delivery driver who made it before the estimated delivery time scale. So kudos there. I had the Britanica on Deep Dish and my Husband had the Ham and Mushroom on thin base. You get two chioces in sizes with the largest being a 12inch pie. The pizza was excellent. Hot and fresh with crispy base. No grease to be found. We also ordered the sides of BBQ Chicken wings and Spare Ribs. We were really impressed. No wimpy little wings here — they were huge and full of BBQ sauce goodness. The ribs were really juicy and tender as well. We also ordered cheesy potato wedges and those were very cheesy. They aren’t shy with the toppings but didn’t go overboard either. This will be replacing domino’s and pizza hut for delivery pizza. I recommend it if you live in the area. It’s not as expensive as the chains and it’s fresher and better tasting.
