Visited on a Friday evening after the recent(needed) refurbishment and asked for a table for five. Despite plenty of empty tables we were given drinks at the bar and seats in the waiting area. There were a couple of menus lying about but we weren’t handed any so that we could choose while«waiting for a table» After a short while we were shown to a table and then a short wait for menus. This is why I haven’t given 5 stars. The range of dishes was fairly predictable but not inadequate. After ordering we didn’t have to wait too long for the food The food was… excellent. The bill wasn’t cheap but was on a par with similar establishment s in the neighbouring area.

As my good friend April K mentioned, we stumbled across Nawaab after an outing to the Lazy Lounge. Food and service were great and they were very good mopping up the shower of beer that I received. Would recommend for an early or late dinner.

Popped in here for a take away curry after the Lazy Lounge event as we hadn’t managed to eat before heading out. Firstly, they are very friendly and the smells are a delight as soon as you enter, secondly-they do a 20% discount for take aways! We only wanted a curry to share so we chose– Chicken Nihari which is desribed as– An exquisite dish popular in New Delhi & Lahore. Chicken is cooked on low heat allowing the chicken to be cooked in its own stock and natural flavours. A saucy dish containing a delicate blend of herbs and spices. We had pilau rice, a roti and samosas to accompany– for £16 this was all a bargain. The dish was lovely and rich and for me held just the right balance of heat and spice(the Mr as usual said it was too hot but he’s a wuss!). The chicken was ‘proper’ chicken pieces and was so tender. We’ve been here before with a group of friends for a pre-xmas get together and the food was supurb then even though there was 17 of us– they more than handled our group and all the food was said to be right up to standard. I will be frequenting this place as my new favourite take away and highly recommend it be tried by all!

After falling out of the lazy lounge a little hungry at 10pm, we fell into Nawaab. I’m not sure what I feel about this place. The décor is a little 1950s crossed with 1980s and totally unstereotypical indian/pakistani restaurant. The food was really very good, although a little salty and creamy, but oh so very tasty and just what we needed after a few drinks! (plus they dealt with my little faux pas of spilling a near full pint over Jenny S with efficient grace… unlike me!)

Went to this restaurant with friends & it’s hands down the best Indian I’ve been to — anywhere in the UK. Top notch & was a reasonably priced too. Book a table in advance — you wont be disappointed. Since visiting, restaurants thar I previously thought were«very good» actually seem average. Good sized portions, great flavour & taste, reasonably priced. Only down side is a crap desert menu & no chai options. :-)

The food here is amazing, but grab the waiter whenever you get the chance as they tend to hide away by the bar area if the restaurant isn’t full.

This restraunt is superb, the quality of the food is second to none. The service is first class, the staff are brilliantly efficient, polite and friendly. At lunch time they have a buffet from 12pm to 2pm. The evening starts at 5pm with an early bird menu which is fantastic value for money and absolutely no cuts in the size of portions, quality or service. Try their award winning dish, it’s fab. Fair price for excellent quality. They do have other branches we have been to the one in Huddersfield which has the same qualities as this one. There is one in Bradford and Manchester too!

As a fan of Indian Cousine I have nearly tried all restaurants available in Leeds City Centre. Nawaabs definately comes as a favourite to me. Their dishes are beatiful, staff very helpful and friendly. You will be looked after and they will make sure that there is nothing else they can do to satisfy your needs. Nawaabs might be a little more expensive then Akbar’s, but you won’t regret paying £2 more then usual. Nawaabs is great for quite big parties also as they usualy give you a corner space. Which means that you can enjoy your party and go wild and not to worry about annoying a table next to you. ;-)

How can we look at Leeds without having an Indian restaurant in the mix? That’s right I hear you proclaim, how indeed? Fear not my fellow food lovers, the best things come to those who wait or at least that’s what my parentals always told me. So it brings me onto Nawaab. Not too far away from York Place and City Square, it may not be the first place that springs to mind when asked about eating Indian out, but it is one you should consider. They do a kick ass Balti and mores to the point, loads of them too. When I say loads, I mean loads. Try over ten for size. As for the speciality dishes, well good stuff chef, good stuff. I can recommend the Sabzi Thali. Three vegetarian dishes served with a generous helping of raitha. If you’re feeling totally hardcore then risk the Nagia Mirch. An extremely hot combo of chillies, garlic, ginger and tomatoes with chicken or lamb. Get the water by the jug though, not the glass. For value hit the all you can eat buffet Tuesdays through to Friday, noon till 2pm. At less than 10 pounds you can’t really moan. Go on popadom and pakora it up every now and again.

Went a few times around 2 years ago and was very impressed. Nice surroundings, and really authentic tastin food. If it was closer it would be a regular.

We came here for a work night out as one of my colleagues is a big fan, and it’s very handy to get to(two minutes’ walk from the station). They do a special early bird type menu for £10.95(I think), or if it’s a corporate do they’ll do a discount off the main menu instead. We stuck with the £10.95 menu as it had plenty of tasty stuff on it. After stuffing my face with poppadoms I managed to shovel three samosas down me, then a lamb and spinach balti with pilau rice(with added mushrooms, because I like mushrooms, me), and I was so full I had to have half of it put in a container to take home. The staff were fantastic — very efficient, friendly, and polite, and the whole experience was much more laid back than any I’ve had at Akbars, which is much busier and stressful. UPDATE — They also do a lunchtime buffet for £7.95 — well tasty it was too!
