We liked this American-style pub so much we visited it twice in one day. They serve an indecision-inducing 27 draft beers(13 cask ales and 14 craft keg beers) alongside dozens of international bottled beers. There are, of course, non-beer options for non-beer lovers. With lots of seating and a few booths around the place, during quieter times of day it’s a terrifically chilled hang out. It was great to see the large metal beer tanks(which they use) right there in the bar area. If you’re feeling peckish you can order stone-baked pizzas here which are made from scratch on site. They come in 7, 12 and 18″ sizes — the largest much be seen to be believed. The rugby was showing on their big TV(the main reason we returned) and although it was busy, with a bit of luck managed to get a table to watch whilst scoffing down pizza before catching the train. A recommended place to visit if you’ve a weakness for great beer.

Came here last night. It was aright, I guess I was expecting a little more from a place with such a beer selection to be honest. The décor was a little lacking personality, I think the should have chosen one/two kinds of table rather than high, low and booths. The tables facing down towards the toilets feel a bit odd and inaccessible too — not really the best layout. Everything was brown. I wasn’t feeling it. The staff member I had didn’t really know as much about their products as I’d hoped either. They were out of Vedett White, and I when I asked what other wit biers they had he didn’t know, he told us they didn’t have others. We then spotted one on draught after I’d settled for a glass of wine! I’m not really fussy with beer but I guess I was overwhelmed and couldn’t chose quickly, and I wasn’t really suggested an alternative. The a4 print outs from Microsoft word presenting the beers isn’t really the best method of display I’ve seen… My boyfriend had an IPA, didn’t really enjoy it at all! Pizza’s smelled good and came in a selection of sizes, but didn’t try. It was pretty busy as it was a friday afternoon. Maybe I should try this place at a quieter time, or maybe I would just go to North Bar. I suspect if would probably be the latter though to be honest, mainly for the knowledgeable staff. If you’re gonna open a bar with such a huge product line I really think the staff need to be trained well enough to sell it.

Meh. This guy is no York Tap. I don’t know what the deal is – perhaps because it’s not right on top of the tracks, or that it’s been simultaneously packed but lacked atmosphere each time I’ve been, but there’s something missing. Something that just doesn’t grab me. The bouncers are sound. I had some pretty good banter outside with them, and so far as I could tell in a small period of time, their only restriction was full on football colours. Bad news for footie fans, but good news(hopefully) for everyone else — groups of lads, etc. The beer selection is damned decent, mind. And the staff will let you play beer roulette, which is when you pick a number between 1 – 16(say they have 16 beers) and they’ll pour out your surprise beer. However, if they decide to stop serving pizza, no amount of demonstrating severe blood-sugar level danger will change their minds. I was literally shaking, and he’d only just stopped, and I begged, but no pizza. So we had to spend our money elsewhere…(I was going to die if I didn’t eat!) All in all, I want to be a fan, but it’s just not glowing beyond three stars for me. It’s cool — I know I can pop to York to scratch that itch.

No atmosphere really to speak of, but there is a fine selection of beers and ciders, and there no no argument that it looks well fitted out. Most importantly they stock Thistly Cross. Try a pint or two. Best. Cider. Ever.

Due to using Unilocal I found this little gem hiding on Boar Lane. I’ve never seen such a range of good beers in one place(outside a beer festival). It’s a bit on the expensive side, but it’s not just any bar it’s a proper brewery too. I love the concept of this place, I’m looking forward to visiting the others(maybe just for one or two). The bar must’ve cost a few quid !!

I’ve been in here a few times now, so my opinion has pretty much changed from my other review. It is clear that people mainly come to sit and talk with friends/colleagues/etc. I do think the bar staff are friendly and are up for a chat at times with the patrons, but other than that they’re pretty quiet. Don’t expect this to be like a bar where you can go and you’re straight away involved in the fun. Don’t get me wrong, the service is great and they’re very polite. There just isn’t enough ‘craic’ at the bar. I’m afraid it can be pretty boring in here. It can be a bit bland. Great beer though. Can’t fault ‘em on that! I like this place but don’t like it at the same time. The beer is great, but the atmosphere sucks. Not much banter in here amongst patrons. It clear this place suffers from ‘train station bar’ syndrome. Too many boring middle aged commuter types who just come in to chat after a day in the office. The layout and size of this place works against making this place better. Maybe if the pumps were at the front, rather than on the wall behind the bar they’d be more banter? I’d still come here for a drink or two before my train because anything is less depressing than Wetherspoons, less annoying than Slug and Lettuce and less pretentious than every bar on Greek Street, but I wouldn’t come here if I wasn’t on a work day. If you don’t like people and want a decent amount of time to try the beers on offer then don’t come on a weekend. It’s incredibly busy. Overall: not bar, just not great. The atmosphere and quiet staff let down the place real bad. Atmosphere is why you go to a bar! I still haven’t tried the pizza! Maybe I’m missing out on something amazing?

Another new real ale orientated drinking establishment hits Leeds, getting a good pint isn’t a difficult task at all in the city so new bars have to offer something different to stand out. Tapped’s party piece is its wall of kegs at the rear of the bar rather than at the bar itself. Seeing a bar with no taps along its length is certainly unusual and gives it quite a stark look. Apart from that gimmick its fairly unspectacular stuff. There’s a very large selection on offer and the prices are pretty reasonable as others have said. However there just isn’t the ambiance that most people look for from a pub/bar. During my Friday evening visit, it all felt a little soulless in there with the big tables, even though there were lots of groups of people chatting away. It had the feel of a busy hotel or airport bar, which isn’t my idea of a fun venue. So all in all, not a bad place per-se, it will probably do very well out of people going for after works drinks, but certainly not a patch on many other pubs/bars in the city. As a side note, the pizzas look pretty good so I may well try one of those if I ever end up in there again!

My first time in here. I had read Justin R’s Review and I was eager to give this place a try. First impressions are that there are a lot of places to sit. Bar stools against the bar. Stools against the walls. Tall tables with stools. Regular tables with chairs. One thing that is a bit weird is the bar has no beer/lager pumps. Everything is on the wall behind the bar. So after you ask for a drink, mine was an Oak Stout(very nice), the bar keep turns their back on you to pour your drink. I don’t know if I like this. Don’t get me wrong the bar staff are really friendly and even let me try a couple of drinks before I made my selection. It is just that any banter between staff and patrons stops while the drink is being poured. I think the bar layout is a bit bland. But the beer is really really good. So I say bring your own colour to the bar. There wasn’t a huge amount of people in here when I came in and the noise levels were quite high. So could get quite distracting when the place becomes really busy. They also do pizzas too. From £4 for a 7 inch pizza, £8 for a 12 and £11 for an 18 inch pizza or there abouts. Not bad for city centre prices. It didn’t try one so maybe someone could let me know what they are like? The beer is good and all the prices are clearly marked. Just a pity the bar area is so bland.

Went here for the first time last week. Love the concept and the look of the place. Just one issue and thats the prices; £6.80 for a pint of sierra nevada just isnt worth it. The only thing worth getting is their own brewed stuff at the price they sell it for. I will go back but will always be for just one before I spend the afternoon in brewdog
