Be pre-warned! No license on site, so you need to bring your own booze!(Slightly disconcerting to arrive, be seated, and then note other arrivals getting up and casually placing large quantities of beer in the fridge situated at the back of the restaurant) Had a ‘taster’ meal(four small curry dishes) — lamb and prawn were excellent, chicken dishes for myself an other diners a little salty. Ambience a little ropey(small, battered chairs causing waiter to reseat one of us during meal, aforementioned massive fridges next to diners) but food interesting and generally of an above average standard– although less salt, and being able to buy a pint on site would add another star…

Strangely everyone i know whose been to Moghul went on the advice of someone else. Its odd that such a small place in such an out of the way area should gather such a reputation. Still i think its well earned. First off remember to bring your own alcohol if you want it. Moghul don’t have the licence but will happily chill and dispense anything you bring. Being right next door to a relaxed pub also makes it easy to sort out drinks if you’ve forgotten your own(though you may get dragged into Kareoke for your trouble!) Moghul started well, the Lassi(yoghurt based smoothie) was really well made and the various chutney’s and sauces served with the starter were really nice. All the starters were impressively sized as were the nan that accompanied the main. We had some debate on the food. I’m a little easy to please and reckon mine was really nice. Very standard affair but well made and just about spicy enough for me. The foody to my right was a little concerned about the origin of his meat. I guess when you buy duck and don’t recognise the taste you…(cry fowl?) sorry. But despite reservations over the taste everyone did enjoy the food. Its a little small and on a day like we’ve been having recently, incredibly hot inside. But the staff were attentive(if a little dopey at times, 1 glass for the jug of water amongst 4 was funny as was the cutlery count to start with). I think for the price and given the lack of serious contenders in Horsforth that Moghul could almost warrent 4 stars, thrown into the mix in leeds it might not fair so well but for what we wanted it fit the bill perfectly.

Excellent food, simply delicious. definately the best restaurant ive been to. if you love curry, the moghul is the place to be. non alcohol restaurant, but nothing to worry for alcohol lovers as there is a pub next door. the staff are great. very welcoming and service is excellent, it is a family run business according to my knowledge, so you will always see a familiar face. definately reccomend this small restaurant and takeaway to all curry lovers. dont miss out.

Quite simply the best curry house in Horsforth! Staffed by owners and family. I even have my Christmas dinner there! I have never had a bad curry in 20 years.

Moghul’s is a quality little curry house hidden away at the bottom of Town Street that I had never noticed until a friend recommended it to me. They don’t have a booze license, but they almost encourage you to bring your own, or, as the place is surrounded by pubs and bars, you can always nip out and bring some back from any of the nearby places. The chicken korma I had was delicious, and my(much more adventurous) friend was singing the praises of the liver starter dish for the rest of the night, so it must have been something special. Moghul’s don’t just play it safe — they offer less traditionally stereotypical dishes such as fish and the aforementioned liver, and for this they must be praised. But most of the praise must be reserved for the prices — scandalously low for such fine cooking.

Arguably the best Indian restaurant in West Yorkshire. Small, ‘classy café style’ restaurant, handily placed on Horsforth Town Street(behind the Kings Arms) This restaurant does not have a alcohol license, but you can take your own(and you dont pay corkage!). As its next to a pub, you can easily buy beer and take it in if you forget or run out! Food is fantastic, cooked to individual requirements(ie extra spicy, without oil etc), using quality meat(not the usual low grade fatty stuff used at some curry houses), and not even expensive(which you would expect with them allowing you to bring your own alcohol). Run & staffed by the owners(to my knowledge) — its always the same staff — and they are very nice, calm, helpful and attentive. Great for nights out with friends, as the cost of the alcohol on the meal bill is often the most costly part — but here it will never be there! — and the food is great. Booking recommended on weekends, they also do takeaways /delivery
