what a peculiar place. Came here for the gin festival and was quite surprised by the building — back and back it went! I’m not sure how this place usually works, but liked the gallery of film posters that were up and the different feel to each room. Not a place that I would walk by to think about stopping at, but the wafts of pizza smelt amazing, may be back to try it again. minus the gin

This one is a really quick review, before a fuller update to come. But, this place has to be shared! It’s a fantastic gallery, tucked away two minutes from the station, with an amazing bar attached. The bar itself, as you walk in, is pretty small but there is a cosier seating option just past that on your way to the gallery. Think chesterfield style sofas, for a cosy glass of wine, and some excellent nibbles. The range of drinks is really good, including several lovely reds, a great choice of classic cocktails and all manner of local ales. I recall seeing Saltaire, and they’re a firm fave. I did balk a bit at the price of the San Pellegrino cans though — £2.20. Is it just me, or is that a little steep? Perhaps I’m getting old. You can also sate hunger with their bar menu, which includes a range of pizzas. I’ve been told by several trusted friends that these are a real treat, so rest assured I’ll be back to give them a go. They’re only £7 too, which seems great value! As for the gallery, my visit was mainly related to the excellent Sneaky ciné screening(which is monthly, and well worth going to if you’ve not checked ‘em out) so I didn’t catch the latest exhibition. Needless to say, there’ll be an update on that too. If you’ve not been, get down there soon — it’s a supremely cool addition to the city!

A random bar I had only been to drunk on previous occasions until tonight. It’s a bar that grows there own herbs for the cocktails on wall hangings. All furniture is proper old style comfy leather sofas. But the lights are new style multi coloured wire hangings with bulbs. Each alcove has its own theme with the next having normal tables and chairs surrounded by photographs of people on random nights out. The last bit has a big mixture of pics and holds events. It was a lovely place for a lie down when spinningly drunk. All in all worth a visit.
