Amazing location, service and the food is insanely good! The duck is soo good! The cocktails are also amazing! Its a little pricey but value for money is so worth it! Perfect for everybody and in the summer its so nice to sit outside looking over the pierhead.

Brilliant restaurant. Great food and great location. I had half a roast duck with a Thai Vinaigrette and some fried rice and it was amazing. Service was excellent and the food came very fast.

The view. I came for the view. I am certain that almost all of the people that come here do exactly the same thing too. Eager to check out what was on offer in terms of food and drinks, we started with drinks on the terrace facing the Liver Buildings. At this stage in the proceedings everything went well. Even if we did struggle somewhat to acquire any table to sit on. So after our whistles had been whet, we headed inside to see if we could get a table to eat something. Upon checking out the décor inside it was a welcoming blend of modern metal work, bright, fresh paintwork and dark woods. Very nice. We stood at the entrance. The dining room, and as there were no staff around picked up a nearby menu to have a look at what they had on offer, while we waited for assistance. This is where things outrageously went downhill. The staff member came over to us and literally grabbed the menu out of my friend’s hands and snapped it shut in front of her face. Wow! What balls! The staff member barked at us in a passive aggressive tone, «can I help you?». It was remarkable, almost as if we had been caught looking in someone’s handbag as opposed to stood there looking through the menu, while we waited to… Oh, let me see… Pay the establishment a decent amount of money for all of us to eat there. After more curt and rude comments from the staff member our group, we turned on our heels and left. For ever.

I went to this restaurant with my sister and brother for the first time. Food and service was good. The view of the pier and river Mersey is beautiful, and I can imagine that at sun set this would be a scenic place to dine in. Altogether we really enjoyed the night. The dishes are pricey but once in awhile for an occasion is not a bad thing. Downsides were that my steak was slightly over cooked when I had asked for medium rare. Perhaps for next time I look forward to trying another dish. Another thing that irked us was that the pricing on one of the platter was misleading. The price stated was for one person but it said the order has to be for 2 people, which means you have to pay twice the stated price for one platter.

Fantastic location in the Pier Head Ferry Terminal with great views across the Mersey. We were seated quickly and handed menus. Within 3 minutes we were asked if we wanted to order as this was a busy Saturday night and we were clearly being rushed through in order to jam in more bookings later on. Rushing aside, the service was attentive and friendly. The wine was good(and reasonably priced) and the food was freshly cook and arrived in record time. As we were only eating the one course, we took our wine out onto the roof terrace to finish it in the last of the setting sun. Not bad at all.

My family and I were regulars at the Chinese restaurant previously located here. The food and views were great and the prices were cheap. When Matou Pan opened I had thought, rather cynically that a lick of paint and new menu would double the prices as proprietors took full advantage of the location. In truth, it has but it’s so worth it; they’ve done a fantastic job with this place. Asian cuisine is quite new to me, I tend to favour European and was dreading ordering a little as I eat neither noodles, rice, batter or sauces, however the waitress kindly pointed out appropriate dishes. The service was great, the food was fantastic, and the views, of course are remarkable; we ate dinner overlooking the Mersey observing the famous ferry completing its final evening crossing. After dinner we had coffee on the terrace in the shadow of the three graces which was incredible. It’s such a picturesque location,(if a little windy!) and there’s a wonderful atmosphere. It is a little pricey but it’s truly worth it, especially for a special occassion.
