Unlike the Smokie Mo’s up by the Adelphi, this Mathew Street version seems to appeal more to the younger generation and feels more like a night club than a bar. However, very much like the other branch, it is godawful to visit in almost every way. Even intoxicated to the point where I’d love a flatulent beach fatality I could still tell this place was horrific. I’m sure the usual cowboy garb is here but it’s hidden behind the seething mass of people shaking their booty and thinking they’re the England team out on the lash. I know it’s my own damn fault for visiting this place but that doesn’t change anything about the fact Smokie Mo’s is gaudy to the point of satanic.

Smokie Mo’s is a well known bar in Liverpool, it can get extremely busy but it’s popularity eludes me! It attracts a lot of hen nights etc. due to it’s sheer cheesiness! They have both live music and karaōke which draw in the crowds. If you’re up for a laugh and want somewhere loud and brash, Mo’s is for you. However, if you’re after a quiet drink and a catch up, I’d advise you went somewhere else! The staff are really friendly as just as much up for a laugh as the customers, they’ll quite happily join in on the antics, dancing on the bars etc. As it’s sooo busy and the staff are often away having fun, than serving at bar, it can take a long time to get your drinks. But, if you keep your chilled out head on, this will wash straight over you and you’ll soon be knocking back cheap shots and bellowing out on the karaōke!

Another one of my favourite karaōke bars, Smokie Mo’s is a well known franchise in Liverpool. It’s the place you say to your mates«I went there yesterday» and they reply«oh god why?» A dodgy karaōke place that attracts the over 40s, you would assume this was no place for ‘the likes of me’. You’d be wrong. I love it! Not sure if this one does the same business as the one down the other end of town — I reckon you get more of the hen party crowd going in from Mathew Street. Still, it’s a decent place to have a knees-up and make new friends. The drinks are typical pub prices, the staff friendly and the atmosphere great. I prefer to go to the larger pub near the Adelphi Hotel, but that’s because I prefer to steer away from Mathew Street crowds. At least in the evening. In the afternoon it’s a bloody good laugh!
