Solid pub with a wide selection of brews. I haven’t ventured into the traditional ales yet, but the beer the beer I’ve had from there has been great. Ordered some fish & chips w/mushy peas for dinner and it was everything you could hope for really. With the right combo of salt & pepper, lemon, and malt vinegar it was fantastic. The atmosphere was pretty dead when I came, but it was a Wednesday night for what it’s worth. They have some nice views of the Albert Dock, we socially on the second floor. All in all it seems like a worthwhile pub that isn’t too expensive. Nothing wrong with a venue that’s lowkey from time to time.

A great pub on the waterfront. Good, extremely friendly, service from the staff. Food is the same as all the Greene King chain but plentiful and appetising. Nice seating outside to watch the world go by if the weather fits. A really good selection of real ales. Unfortunately, as we were only in Liverpool for a couple of days, I only managed to sample half of them. The barman offered tasters before I decided but, and he agreed, you can’t sample real ales by a mouthful as a pint is needed(my excuse). Plenty of comfy seating inside. Well worth a visit.

Very nice, reasonably priced pub on Albert Dock. Comfy and pleasant décor, better than average pub classics, solid range of beers and lagers. This was a pleasant surprise: A restaurant on Albert Dock that’s not pricey. The Pumphouse is a historic building, and the pub inside certainly does that history justice. The décor is likeable, especially that there are several«niches» you can disappear into(the attentive waiters will still find you). I had a late lunch there, fish & chips. Quite frankly, the best I’ve ever had. And reasonably priced, too — as indeed all dishes on the menu were. The batter was crisp, not oily, the cod fillet not too soft. Lovely. Beers aren’t cheap, but not dis-proportionally expensive either. After all, it’s on Albert Dock, Liverpool’s premier tourist attraction. And there’s a good range of beers and lagers on offer, including several real ales. If you want to take a break from visiting the Albert Dock museums and galleries(Tate, Slavery Museum, Maritime Museum) — I’d recommend you visit this place.

The Pump House was a very busy bar and very loud with many people standing up. Something you wouldn’t expect from a bar at that time, it is located by the river in Liverpool. They have a good selection of Alcholic beverages however apart from Alchohol and Fizzy Drinks, they is not much selection. Common bar drinks such as J20 was not on the menu.

Touch down in Liverpool and The Pumphouse is where I had my first meal in the U. K after my flight from New York, USA. The Pumphouse restaurant is located in a nifty industrial brick building on Albert Dock. I went with the traditional fish and chips and a pint to go with. I loved my pint, it was refreshing and needed after a long flight, but the fish and chips, I’ve had better. These cool Canadians I bumped into at the airport just happened to be seated right next to us. I remember they commented that they expected the fish and chips to be as good they remembered on their last visit to the Pumphouse but was far from good. Staff is extremely friendly which made me forget that I was dissatisfied with my first casual English dish. I did return for the best seat in the house, the bar. Cool place to grab a drink and go.

The Pumphouse is located right on the edge of the Albert Dock in all it’s coblestone lined path glory. It’s called The Pumphouse because… well…it was the pump house of the dock. It’s kept the factory feel on the outside and is now an adorable bar & restaurant. Our waitress was a cute young thing, very friendly throughout the entire meal. I had their Fusmilli Whole Wheat Pasta for 8.95. It was one of four meals listed under their ‘Lighter Meals’ section and packed full of ingredients I loved. like chickpeas, mushrooms and spinach. Apparently it was my ignorance but this was literally just the pasta noodles and veggies thrown in. No sauce or recognizable seasonings of any type that I could detect further than some oil. It just tasted very bland in this state and I was a bit disappointed. My friend had a burger with fries plus a side of onion rings… I envied it all as it looked quite good. A lot of the other patrons in were just catching beers and watching some football so it seems Pumphouse is a great spot for that! There were families, couples and friends alike in this restaurant. Plus they had a big patio space outside which I imagine to be quite relaxing during these summer months on the dock. Positive — clean bathrooms!

Brilliant location, popular with tourists and Liverpudlians alike, food is reasonably cheap and arrived quickly, though I’d mainly recommend waiting for a cloudless day and sitting outside with a nice cold pint.

This place was pretty decent. I’m sure that if we came at an earlier hour, they would have had all the food on their menu. Is 8:30PM really that late for a restaurant to run out of chicken and salmon? The dishes that pertained to chicken and salmon all sounded delicious. Sadly… I had to end up getting some codfishcakes that did not taste good at all with some arugula tasting/looking salad. It was not good at all. My two other friends got a lasagna that looked and tasted just like a hot pocket. Might as well have brought out the hot pocket package. My two other friends got a veggie burger that tasted good. That burger was the only delicious thing on our table. The staff was very friendly. They were extremely apologetic to me when they ran out of BOTH chicken and salmon. Overall, good staff. Decent food(also lack of food). The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. I’m sure if we came here for drinks it would have been a good time. Very cozy and comfortable.

Very pleasantly surprised here today. They now have a choice of real ales and serve them well. We opted to try out the Pumphouse Landlord’s Choice at 3.8%. This was a very tasty pint of bitter, especially when drank outside in the blazing sunshine. When the barmaid asked me for £5, I couldn’t believe she was charging me for the two pints as, in the past, this has had a reputation for fleecing tourists. The menu looked really impressive with some intriguing choices at very reasonable prices. Everywhere was clean and tidy and all the staff we came into contact with were pleasant and helpful. Additional: It is now more than £3 for a pint of the Manager’s Choice, which is a Greene King Brew(what a surprise in a Greene King pub!) but is rather nice. The food seems a little pricey but, on seeing people being served, we realised the portions are very good and the food is tasty. I can say the last part as we decided to try the burger platter to share. This was six mini burgers with a large bowl of real chips. Two bacon burgers, two cheese burgers and two ordinary burgers all about a quarter normal size and made with real meat.

For a British pub experience, I am sure The Pumphouse would do just fine. For a dining experience, be prepared to be disappointed. Still, I will give them credit for a relaxing atmosphere and great view which my group did enjoy. Again having a large enough crowd to try nearly everything allowed me to confirm nothing was overwhelming good. The fish and chips were slightly overcooked but the chicken was downright dry. The starters were fair and after the meal the pudding sampler was much better than I expected. Stick to the drinks and I’m sure you’ll have a good time.

As a seasoned UK Fish N’ Chips expert I was expecting big things from the Pumphouse. The restaurant provided great patio views of Albert Dock and today was a rarity with warm weather, sunshine and clear skies. Besides the ambiance the Fish N’Chips was over cooked and more batter then white cod fish. The most disappointing part was table bread that looked and tasted like slices of bread aged a few days off the local grocery shelf. The location, good alcohol selection/pricing, service and staff curved The Pumphouse to a 3 instead of 2.

Walking along the dock area you’ll see the tower of this place. Give yourself a treat and go in, you’ll be welcomed and well fed. Great food, great selection of drinks, and history all around you, even out the windows. Enjoy!

The Pump house is a classy pub in the dockside area which is very suited to its classy surroundings. The atmosphere here is great and very warm meaning you can really sit back and enjoy your drinks whilst feeling very relaxed indeed. The staff here are extremely attentive and efficient and make your experience as full as it possibly could be which really is excellent. This pub has a great outside seating area and on a nice day there can hardly be many better places to enjoy a drink whilst perusing the surrounding dockside area. The drinks prices are a tad high but again you pay for what you get and on the whole the prices are definitely worth the experience as a whole. If you are in Liverpool and you fancy a classy drink and a warm atmosphere in a traditional but high brow pub then this is your place.

If it wasn’t for the terrific views around the dock at the foot of the Liver Building, there would be little reason to suggest coming to The Pumphouse pub. Maybe the owners just new there was no need to do anything with the place because its location does so much for it. It basically feels like a very lucky Wetherspoons! As the Albert Dock attracts so many people for various reasons, it is a pretty good pub to get a beer and some scran at anytime of the year as it has plenty of outdoor seating to take advantage of the views in the summer and can be a much needed source of respite from the elements during the winter that wont cost as much as the nearby restaurants.

Say what you like about the grim, industrial outline of the Pumphouse, I can’t think of any other Liverpool pub with such a landmark-laden view. Whereas a window seat in other places will guarantee you a glimpse of bored shoppers, a brick wall or, if you’re lucky, a car park, the Pumphouse thrives nestled amongst the cobbled grandeur of the Albert Dock. Peek out any window and you’ll be treated to a postcard perspective of the Three Graces, the Mersey or the glittering Liverpool One buildings. It’s just a shame the pub’s not that good. Insanely busy at the weekend, it tends not to do a good job at serving food. The staff on waiting duty seem like they’re only seconds from breaking down and sobbing, begging customers to understand how challenging it is serving gobby idiots. I can hardly blame them but there’s only so long you can wait for a plate of nosh before you become disinterested with a place.

After visiting all around the Maritime Museum you are probably going to have worked up quite an appetite. If Gusto’s is out of your price range or its a nice day and you want to sit outside then check out The Pumphouse. With its large chimney, you cant miss it. They have a range of long drinks to cool you down and a new wine menu where you get a bottle for the price of two large glasses. The Pumphouse is yet another location offering Liverpool’s famous Scouse dish available for £5.95. Inside are comfy seats with some quite little nooks and cranies to sit in. Its a very smart pub with some nice features and light fittings which make for a smart and relaxing venue.

The Pumphouse is in a great location if you have just spent the day wandering around the Tate modern or have just got of one of the Duckmarine boats at the Albert docks. Its modern interior is a very pleasant place to sit, but do not plan on a quiet pint. Even at 3pm on a Saturday the Pumphouse was packed full of tourists and local drinkers in search of a more premium beer. Its prime location on the docks allows it to serve imported beers such as Peroni and Budweiser as its main selection and the prices reflect this. If your looking for something cheaper it is probably more advisable to walk up into town were the prices and selection are considerably better. Your also more likely to find somewhere to sit!

Pleasant place to go for a drink(draught Guinness anyone?) or a wholesome meal. Choose between a mixture of seating from high bar stools/chairs to sofas and armchairs, or plain wooden tables and chairs. There are polished floorboards and a combination of old and new décor; old brick arches alongside painted walls and ceilings, inset spotlights, the odd chandelier, modern art prints and curious glass windows looking into other seating areas on higher or lower levels. There’s a good menu with a lot of choice for vegetarians. Alongside the Albert Dock and not far to walk into town so an excellent location.

This could be a great pub but it is aimed at tourist and not at regulars, still it has a good atmosphere and serves decent beer and food. It can get very busy if the weather is nice(When???) The staff cope well and are friendly so if you are visiting The Albert Dock do call in, it has no pretentions.
