Great atmosphere but service VEEERY slow. Might have been the Xmas parties ahead of us. Bar staff helpful and polite.

I have been here a few times and have always enjoyed my food and the service. Once for a work lunch with people from another company, it was perfectly acceptable and makes for a nice change to getting dragged into town for some white linen table affair. Other times have all been with friends for lunch. The burgers here are blinking tasty, and they cook them well. Sunday roasts are also very well done. They have a great selection of drinks as well for you to chose from. If you are going here mid week, then normally you can get a table, if you are venturing here at the weekend for food, then I would recommend that you book ahead as it is always chocca. The atmosphere is never disappointing, although even on a weekend every table is full and people are nattering away, for some reason, this works and doesn’t bother you or affect the experience that you are having. The staff are fantastic, and even when it is busy you don’t have to wait long to get served a drink. They also have a quiz night on a Tuesday which is a hoot and everyone is welcome — you don’t get the die hard quiz teams giving you evils for daring to enter! My friends have also given it the thumbs up. It also is a place that you know people keep on going back to, it wouldn’t survive if it wasn’t as good as it is. Always a reliable location for good food and good service. Will return there shortly!

Has now been completely refurbished and made into a gastropub, but still with a decent drinking area and great beer garden. Very popular so need to book table at weekends.

I have been to this pub quite a few times and I feel ounce’s veiws do not reflect the place at all. The food is very good and when I did have a small complaint it was dealt with fast and efficiently. The garden is a dream as is the upstairs resturant. The menu changes with the seasonal produce and there is always ‘specials’of the day. Overall an excellent venue. Laurie

Dreadful! Food does not fit the description of the web site or the menu, is extremely bland and limited and not properly cooked. The staff are not the full ticket. Crazily overpriced and and the place is uncomfortable and quite frankly depressing. I doubt there is a chef in the kitchen after what appeared on our plates! More likely a microwave technician who has failed the course for pushing the right buttons. Anyone who eats here needs immediately to cross off the 12% service charge from the bill although my advice is give it a very wide berth!

Driven past this place loads of times but heard good things about it’s redevelopment and re-launch so we booked Sunday lunch in the upstairs restaurant area. The whole impression when you enter is that is’s huge, big open bar with a mixture of tables and settees, We made our way upstairs and were shown to our table. Very shabby chic but warm and busy with a mix of families and couples. We ordered drinks which came quickly and food which did not. After 40 minutes wait the kids were starving. When the food did arrive it was tepid at best. The waiting staff were vague and just not really there. I had to pop my head around the kitchen door to get someone to bring horseradish. Desserts were nice enough but it feels like it’s not quite on it’s game yet. Shame because it feels like a nice pub/restaurant but it’s got lots of really great competition round here. Looks like they are planning a big garden for the summer, not sure the kitchen can cope!

Nice garden for sunny days, cosy fire inside on cold winter ones. Good selection of beers. Tasty food(especially worth having the fish n chips), well priced and friendly staff(hello Mary!). Recommended, if only cos it’s the only pub for miles, it’s in a beautiful part of Mill Hill with great views, and very quiet. Has carpark and 5 mins on 240 bus from Mill Hill East underground station or Mill Hill Broadway.

This is a small pub that happens to be at the end of my walking hike in the nearby woods and fields in Mill Hill East. Therefore I have stopped here for a deserving ½ pint on two occasions. As I said it is small and somewhat dingy(by that I mean dark inside and not particularly well kept décor. The bar staff are friendly enough and it always seems practically empty in the late afternoon. There is a really nice bar garden at the back so after grabbing my ale at the bar I head out into the garden to enjoy. As long as there are no smokers present(they sit out here to smoke and drink) I can sit back and simply relax. So where the pub might be dark and dingy it makes up for it with the garden. Also the ale is good here too and they usually have a couple to choose from. Cannot tell you what this place is like during the evening but I imagine it would be full of locals as it is a bit off the beaten track.
