Don’t go, service awful. Took ages to come to take our order, when food came it was very slap dash, no question of is your meal ok? after, practically had to get up to ask for pepper as they delivered the food to table and walked away so quickly didn’t get a chance — and when we did ask for pepper — was told that they had run out and given a cup literally with fast food pepper sachets in it. Terrible! Restaurant is huge and was empty — be surprised if they last much longer. Shame as venue is lovely.

I am quite surprised that this restaurant/bar is still open. After mistakenly going there a couple of years ago I was quite certain that the competition from other, far superior establishments on Church Street would ensure that no one else would ever have the misfortune of eating here. Alas, this is not the case and Booth’s is still open for business. The £6.50 spaghetti bolognaise I had on my visit tasted like a microwave meal from Iceland and even I, with medium to poor culinary skills can make a decent bolognaise. The service was pretty slow and unfriendly and the clientele were very strange indeed. From the outside, it looks like an attractive prospect, with a large out door seating area and lots of pretty lights, however it is seldom busy and is probably kept afloat by an overspill of people who didn’t reserve at other restaurants on the street. The downstairs pub/bar area is even worse, very 1980s Croydon and not in a retro way. It’s always full of people who look like regulars, so the place must hold some appeal to them, but I really can’t see what it is.

Booth’s is a great big pizza place that has a prime position on Stoke Newington Church Street. I say big because it is big. Big inside and beautiful outside in the garden, where you can sit and relax in summer. The stone baked pizza’s range from about 6 to 8 pounds for a 12″. They are incredibly delicious, and not over loaded with ingredients, the way it should be. There is also a very large selection of starters, pasta and anti-pasti. The place definitely has a continental kind of feel, especially when you are sipping a beer and enjoying a pizza out in the garden. The staff are great, and you get a decent amount of attention, even when it is busy. The restaurant is located right near an amazing graveyard which is perfect for a summers night after dinner walk, preferable if it is still daylight.

A local pizzeria that is proud of its affordable and friendly service, Booth makes some really good stone baked pizza. They have a great beer garden up front, that serves a really good variety of beer — including some great Belgian beer on drought. Its great to sit here in the summer, but on colder days, the restaurant downstairs is pretty simple and cozy. Other than pizzas they make a large variety of Italian dishes and some great antipasti which are all really good value for money. Its a fairly relaxed environment, and certainly worth a visit.

Booth’s a nice little place on Stoke Newington’s Church Street. Wide selection of fulfilling pizzas, comfy sofas(allowing a lie down at weekday lunchtime), jukebox if you fancy(though the track list is rather mainstream and at the cost of 50p a track, you’d be better off asking them to put the radio on). I can only dig them for being one of these greats serving Fruli on tap.
