The portion size here is insane! You definitely get value for money. The menu is pretty simple there is chicken, steak, fish and a veggie option and you get two sides(salad, chips or rice). I went for the chicken where you actually get half a chicken! The wing was tasty but the breast was pretty over cooked. Not particularly exciting food, but great value!

It was my birthday yesterday and to celebrate I decided to have dinner with some of my favourite people. After a few glasses of bubbly we headed to Brixton Village with the intention of going to the first place that took our fancy but unfortunately it was Wednesday and as we discovered a lot of places close early on Wednesday in Brixton Village. It was also a bit chilly so we wanted somewhere that we could sit inside. We only had one option and that was the Brixton Village Grill. I can’t say it would have been the fist place I would have chosen for my birthday celebrations but I wasn’t a bit sorry we ended up there. The décor in here is really cool in wood with lots of Bansky prints. Firstly drinks — we ordered a jug of Sangria which was delicious and bottle of Portuguese Rose which was slightly fizzy, very light and very drinkable. All the wines are Portuguese and very reasonable except for a bottle of Champagne which really doesn’t fit on this menu at all. There is a limited menu but this is perfect for the type of restaurant it is — a typical Portuguese restaurant which will transport you back to holidays spent in the Algarve. There are five or six starters inlcuding of course sardines and the mains are a choice of Chargrilled Sirloin Steak, Flame Grilled Chicken, Chargrilled Spare ribs, fish of the day or the vegetarian option of chargrilled aubergines with parmesan tomatoes. Between us we ordered the steak, ribs and fish of the day which was a whole seabass cooked on the bone. The sides are a choice of two of the rice, chips or salad. We all went for the salad and chips. The food came pretty quickly and the portions were huge. I had the ribs and only got through about half of them as did my friend but the staff were happy to wrap them up for us to take home — they were far too delicious to waste! Two people had ordered the fish and this seemed like a good portion, the steak too was a big portion. The chips were delicious, hot and crispy on the outside and fluffy in middle. We had some of their incredibly hot piri piri sauce which be warned will blow your mind! The salad was a simple dressed salad of tomatoes, cucumber, onion and lettuce and complimented the food perfectly. All of us agreed the food was really great. Dessert was an enormous slice of cheesecake with a candle in it doubling up as my birthday cake. Way too much for me but a good size for five pretty full ladies who still like to leave a little room for dessert! Did I mention it was a dime bar cheesecake? On tasting this one of my friends literally sat back closed her eyes and smiled in utter contentment — if you love cheesecake you will love this!!! Finally the staff were really lovely and went out of their way for us. Our waitress was from Colombia and couldn’t have been more attentive. This place has great food at a great price in great surroundings so what is not to like? I will definitely be back! Oh one thing this is cash only so don’t get caught out!

Me and my partner found ourselves amoungst the bussling Brixton markets when the clock struck 1pm, and man did our stomachs know it! After a little menu perusing we decided to go with The Village Grill. Our healthy appetites encouraged us to get the perri perri vegatable soup as a starter along with the grilled spare ribs and the grilled fish. As soon as the soup arrived we were blown away! It was probably one of the best soups we have both ever tasted! It is a little on the spicy side so do take care if thats not what you like. For us, however, it was absulutely incredible. Then out came the main dishes and to our delight the portions were HUGE! We have both had our fair share of dissapointingly small lunch menu portions and with our mains only costing 7 pounds each we were nervous about how much food we would get. We are also so glad to say not only were the portions huge the food, much like the starter, was amazing. We picked the salad and chips as our sides and they were both as delisious as the mains themselves. The lovely host also had no hesitation in bringing out an array of sauses for our chips. I would definitly reccomend this place to anyone, it not only met our expectations but blew them away!

We went to Brixton Village the week before and found that so many new places have popped up over the last year so we decided to come back and try out more of the places. We saw a lot of people at the Brixton Village Grill last time so we decided to give it a try this time. It was packed with people even on a Wednesday night and we waited for about 20 minutes for a table. We had grilled sardines, chargrilled spare ribs and grilled lamb with piri piri sauce. The sardines were nice and the portions were huge. I can barely finish the spare ribs on my own but had to share it with my friend. The ribs were decent but there were too much fat for my liking. The lamb with piri piri sauce was very good though, love the sauce! For desserts, we love the dime bar cheese cake, it’s like a white chocolate cheese cake but less sweet. We also had the piri piri ice cream, it’s like a milk based ice cream but with spicy piri piri aftertaste, I quite like it! Will go back once we have tried the other places in Brixton Village. A good place to go with a larger group of friends and good for sharing as the portions are huge!

It’s very difficult for me to find something in Brixton Village that I do not like. With all the selection, surroundings and local flavor, the Village is where it’s at. Brixton Village Grill is very small and the menu is a bit limited as well. With just a few main course options featuring veal, sirloin, grilled aubergine and a seafood option, you shouldn’t have trouble deciding what to order. The beautiful thing is, I’m confident that you will enjoy it. My sirloin was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The steak was served with my choice of two sides including rice, salad and chips. I chose the chips and they were quite good. They were hot and fresh and extra salty! The salad was a little meh to be honest. Overall I would say that Brixton Grill is a great choice for dinner in the market if what you’re looking for is a great steak or chicken option that you can sit and enjoy with a bottle of wine. I think it’s only real set back is that there are so many other exotic options in the Village to compete with. The menu seems a little predictable compared to the eccentricity and color that sets the rhythms of the Village. I will go back, but not before I try every other eatery in the place!

Flame grilled spring chicken with rice and salad and a spicy ‘Mozambique sauce’. Oh my goodness what a fabulous and healthy lunch! Tucked in Brixton Village Market amongst all the gorgeous little cafes, restaurants, shops and stalls, the Brixton Village Grill is one not to overlook! The chicken was delicious, especially with the kick from the spicy sauce dribbled over the top. With the meat you could choose two sides out of chips, salad and rice. I opted for the salad and rice, the portions were generous and the salad was dressed perfectly — not too little, not too much. I devoured my food in record time. It was a perfectly filling lunch and the ladies serving were delightful — smiley, warm and welcoming. And did I mention the price? £7.50! Bargain! I’ll definitely be popping back soon and will perhaps try one of the specials such as grilled seabass or piri piri prawns, if they’re available. Yum!

Yummy yummy in my tummy! Oh Brixton Village Grill, you made lunch such a thrill! Half a chicken with salad and rice, and please may I have some extra spicy. How I love that flamed grill taste, what that on it, rub or paste? Eitherway you’re really nice and even better with that cheap price!

came here today for lunch with my boyfriend and a couple of friends. i had the fish of the day, which was seabass. it came with beautifully cooked and seasoned chips and a lovely fresh side salad. for £9.50 and a whole seabass, i thought this was good value, plus it was absolutely delicious. try their chilli sauce — it’s super good and has a great kick to it. my boyfriend had the ribs — it was a mega portion, and he couldn’t finish it. surprisingly as he is a rib fiend! he had high praise for them, too. the waitresses were good, sitting outside very pleasant — excellent people watching spot. i just love the vibe of brixton village market. the food does take quite a while to come, but with good company it is definitely worth the wait :)

We had a late lunch at the Brixton Village Grill today and ordered the ribs and chicken mains, and my friend ordered the Piri Piri prawns. Portions for the meat were very generous and came with 2 sides out of a selection of chips, salad or rice. I can’t vouch for the chicken or prawns, but the ribs were well seasoned, juicy and quite tasty. My friend was a little disappointed with her prawns thoughthree baby prawns on skewer for £5, while we paid £8.50 and £9.50 for the meatsher fault for being a non meat eater I suppose We would have preferred to have eaten at one of the other vendors, but these all had massive queues. But, no real complaints here, as the service was fairly swift, and the food decent.

This place is not very good. I went on Saturday for a friend’s birthday and will not be going back. The service was rubbish and the waitress was rude. We had to wait 25 minutes for the wine we’d ordered and one of my friend’s dishes didn’t arrive at all. My boyfriend had to send his steak back he ordered it rare, it came well done and after requesting another one came out blue. I’m vegetarian, so I’m aware that I’m not their target market, but there wasn’t a single veggie starter, and my main was pathetic: three thin slices of grilled aubergine with some watery tomato on top, accompanied by some cheap Iceberg lettuce: a complete rip-off at £6.50. There are lots of great restaurants in Brixton village don’t bother with this one.

I’ve only been here for their breakfasts at the weekend. The restaurant menus are put away and the breakfast ones come out., A simple menu — variations of a theme incluing sausages, bacon, mushrooms etc.(the garlic mushrooms with a sprinkling of cheese are an inspired touch). One section of the menu reads ‘Hangover’, under which you’ll find a shandy, bloody mary and bucks fizz. Nice touch, Brixton Village Grill. Very much looking forward to trying their evening menu. It sounds delicious. Pleasant outside seating.
