What a shame. The very appealing menu tempted us to Casa Sabila — it sounded fresh and tasty. What we did manage to eat here certainly was. The one wait staff did warn us that they make everything from scratch and that it would be about 20 – 30 minutes for our mains. Well that’s ok, we liked the sound of fresh food and besides, we had an hour and twenty minutes before we had to be at the cinema. We orderd some really delicious rossini cocktails to start — and they were very good. Pricey, but good. The starters we shared — the goats cheese fritter and assorted crostinis and breads were exceptional. A great start! And then we waited. And waited. And waited. And asked how long our mains would be. And waited. And got ignored for a while. And then asked again. We waited so long that we were faced with either missing our film or getting our mains in the next 2 mintutes and literally throwing them down our throats. So we had to leave before our mains arrived. I’ve never done that before, ever. We asked for the bill and got a less than friendly response and some downright rude scowls despite pointing out that we had placed our order over 75 minutes before. Oh how we wanted to enjoy our mains! We spotted them turning away people just before 9pm, despite showing 10pm as their last orders. Something had gone wrong — a victim of the popularity of Brixton Village Market, and from watching the ktichen staff at work, things are poorly managed here. But the food showed such promise. Head here on a quiet night, or very early in the evening(apparently earlier than our 7.30 arrival time).
