I have to admit, we only tried one food in this place: the bread sticks … as we took full advantage of the cocktail happy hour! Divine cocktails in a very relaxed and not crowded environment near the V&A. What more to expect on a Monday night … or any other weeknight. I had the chilli Martini and let me tell you … it was definitely had chilli in it. Woah! My friend had a coffee Martini and it was much better than what was offered at the V&A later on. Although they were for free, so no bad words about the V&A. anyway as this place is near to work I will be back in a flash!

During a week in London went to Cassis twice. Reservations sere easy to obtain and available as scheduled. It has a contemporary European feel, interesting graphics on the wall. Staff was attentive and enthusiastic, however they seemed less experienced than expected. The wine list is fairly large, however they have a group of wines all listed as 50 pounds or less. Had one Sancerre and one Merlot from that list. On both occasions had a starter and main course(fish and pasta). Food was nicely presented and tasty. Overall this was a pleasant dining experience, compared with other restaurants in the area there were only a small number of customers.

I’m a HUGE fan of Cassis’s happy hour! I’d seen the drink specials on their website, and thought surely this cannot be real — nearly their entire cocktail menu is half off, and happy hour runs from something like 4 pm on(til 7? 8?) — so you can literally spend half the day sampling their cocktails if you so desire! The booth area by the bar is great and spacious — the bartenders can be incredibly friendly, and often give free olives along with happy hour. My personal favorite is the passion fruit martini, but there are so many great options to choose from(champagne drinks are the only ones I recall not being half off). Steps from Harrods as well! They have heat lamps outside also, so look forward to returning this summer, and hopefully enjoying the outdoor seating. Never sampled the food, but it smelled amazing!

This review is actually quite hard to write. There was a lot of love about this place, but it was definitely hit or miss as far as the food went. We came here after a very, very long day touring the English Countryside and were tired and starving when we came upon Cassis. It was my fella’s birthday and despite having bookmarked a million and a half different restaurants in London to try we settled on Cassis 1. because it was close to where we were when the hunger hit us and 2. because a moment after we decided to look for a restaurant my fella tripped and twisted his ankle and was in quite a bit of pain, so we needed to find a place to sit asap to rest his swollen tootsie. The restaurant was incredibly empty. Just two other parties were dining when we entered around 10pm. I hoped this wasn’t a bad omen, but I think it was mostly due to the construction that was going on on the street outside. I ordered the ribeye with pepper sauce and a side of punalette pasta gratin. The ribeye was a complete disappointment the only thing keeping this from being a 4 or 4 ½ star review. The meat was tough and poorly cooked. it was unseasoned and very gristly. The punalette was divine. This cheesy concoction was so delicious, it almost made up for my poor excuse for a steak. The pepper sauce was quite tasty as well. I poured it on my steak liberally. My fella ordered the Herb-crusted rack of lamb, which he adored. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was the highlight of the meal. There were quite a few other options on the menu that I had meant to try instead of the steak, so I regretted my unfortunate choice quite a bit. All in all the meal was good, but the steak marred what could have been a wonderful birthday meal.

This was a really great brunch spot. It wasn’t cheap but the quality of the food was really good and wait staff was on the spot. The crepes were fantastic and so were the steak and eggs.

I had an tasty, fun meal at Cassis — while clearly still through working out initial kinks(I visited during the one-week anniversary of the restaurant), I found both the food and atmosphere worthy of a repeat visit. On the ambience — sleek tables, a more than adequate bar, and fast music helped create a fun vibe. The staff was attentive; the sommelier helpful and forthcoming; the pace of the meal appropriately set. Amidst these fun surroundings(and with the multi-Michelin Star pedigree of the chef), I found the food a tad anticlimactic. Part of it may have been that I ordered incorrectly: I started with the Scallops(served in a pot amongst a mountain of white beans and broth) and had Duck Breast(with berries and a polenta gratin) as a main. While neither was poor, I was far from wow-ed. For those keeping score: the winning dishes appeared to be a healthy portion of black truffle risotto for an appetizer, and the Steak Tarate as the plat principaux. The risotto was rich, creamy, and earthy, while the tartare was reviewed as having excellent texture, flavour, and spice. Dessert was tasty but unmemorable — save the Ginger Tea, which packed a huge wallop(arguably the spiciest brew I’ve ever consumed — order at your own peril). All in all, a bistro worth a visit for a date — or for a casual meal. Prices are not egregious(easily within 50GBP per person includes drinks) and, given the past success of the chef, the food will only keep improving. The location makes it perfect for a neighbourhood bite in South Ken.
