Bordered by the back of John Lewis and above an underground car park, Cavendish Square is the only green space for a while around Oxford Street. It’s a sea of people and legs trying to bathe in the lunchtime sunshine. It is difficult to claim a space in the square to call your own as it’s not huge, and it gets crowded. Yes, there are pigeons and cigarette butts. But there is also grass and a temporary ping pong table. And when the sun is shining, you can stretch back on the green and bask in the light. Work is temporarily forgotten for the hour. All is glorious. It will do quite nicely.
