Central Ymca

This YMCA is great! It’s very close to a lot of bus stops and a tube station as well.
The place is huge, especially considering its location, and has everything from weights to cardio machines to a heated pool to exercise classes (and a lot more in between). You can take a tour and I was given a three day free pass to use the facilities before buying a membership. When I go before school it’s never been crowded and everything has been super clean, but I can’t speak for the evening crowd.
You need a 1 pound coin to use the lockers but it’s only a deposit, you get it back when you unlock the locker. The locker was big enough to hold a large folder, my backpack and my small gym tote bag. The changing room is large and very clean. There are plenty of toilets, showers and hairdryers. The showers are bigger than the shower in my flat so I really can’t complain. My only complaint is that you have to pay 1.50 to rent a towel, but the place is so nice and clean that I can deal with it and bring my own.
The membership prices are fair considering how much you get (facilities/​classes/​amenities), especially for students. You’ll need to supply a proof of registration letter from your school.
There is also a café where you can get some food or catch up on work. Overall I would totally recommend it!

Great gym for central London location. The prices are reasonable for the facilities provided and the staff are always friendly.
There are lots of classes to choose from and the also offer short course in all sorts of things like languages, arts and crafts and training to be a instructor.
The changing rooms are quite big with lots of lockers and two separate shower areas, which are cleaned regularly. There is also a separate group children’s area.
This gym has something for everyone, I’d definitely recommend trying it out.

Having been a member of Holmes Place, Virgin Active, Gym Box, Fitness First, Cannons, Nuffield Health and braved the Oasis sports Centre I can safely say this is the nicest gym I have been to in my ten years in London. Modern facilities, nice juice bar with web access, big, clean pool and nice changing rooms. They must have recently redone it but after sustaining a few serious injuries requiring me to pause my MMA gym memberships, this has been a consolation.

Central YMCA is an excellent gym that caters for everything you could possibly require. There is a 25m swimming pool, pilates studios, huge cardio theatre and excellent resistance training equipment.
The gym has an urban feel, but it doesn’t claim to be a pretty gym, just a well provisioned, effective gym. With an astonishing array of classes and sports, Central YMCA is a fantastic club to join.
